Z owners age

Im not sure if this has been done before, a quick search didnt show anything, and after a couple of threads about younger and older guys here I thought this might be a good idea to see how versitile the Z has become with different age groups.

I am in my middle 40s, married with two kids in college and still in my cash pocket for now. Hopefully after college they can support themselves and I will be able to get closer to my dream car of something like the GTR or the upper end Porsches but thats a yr or 2 away.

Love the Z and hope to be able to give it to one of my kids and get my dream car soon.

There is a age poll for 370 owners somewhere on this forum, but I am 23 and in college currently.

I bought my second sports car, my 370 Z, at age 61 and chose to put the additional "Porsche money" into the retirement fund, instead,to be able to sooner spend less time in my law office and more time enjoying my hobbies and pursuing my interests on my own terms. But everyone has his own plan and his own dream to chase. Just don't "wish the years away." They'll fly by quickly enough!

Had to do it since the statement works for me also, but there is a poll somewhere. I think the 20-29 crowd is winning but I would also bet that is because that is the largest online user base.

36, married (currently), oldest (19) in the Air Force and a 5 year old (aka my co-pilot) at home.

25, single homeowner.

Surprised at how many college kids here are rocking $30k+ sports cars. When I was that age I worked my butt off to pay for school and happy to be able to afford a 98 Saturn. More power to ya though if you can make it work on your own dime.

Makes me feel less special that it took years of college and work experience to land a great job and career path to comfortably afford the Z :(

26 here, condo owner, getting married next year (she drives a G35), happy Z owner :tiphat:

48, married, son in USAF, daughter a H.S. senior applying for colleges. I've driven sporty/sports cars since my very first car ('73 Vette). The best I can probably hope for is a GTR, medium 911 or maybe another M-car. Don't see a Ferrari 458 Italia in my future!!!!

Azroadster 12-29-2009 11:03 AM

56, married. I came from the Miata world. My first sports car was a '80 RX7. Baby came along and had to do the mini van thing for a while. Have owned three Miatas and still have a very nice '94 in the garage. Had the Z for six months and couldn't be happier.

23...I accepted a job with a Mid-Size CPA Firm after my internship so I knew I had a job when I graduated. After passing the CPA exam I decided to trade in my 06 Si for the current nismo.

Payments are kind of high, but hey, I don't really have much else to spend money on right now

matrix_square 12-29-2009 11:45 AM

Age:29
Married for 4 years now, but been with my wife for 9 years altogether. Went and graduated together at University of West Georgia in Carrollton.
Home owner with 3 rentals
I didnt drive nice cars until 2005, drove an 1986 Toyota Pick up for a while 4-speed
Then got a new 05 Honda S2000 Blue, which my wife claims is hers... So ended up buying the color i really wanted White 04. I have an RSX for daily right now and
Traded my childhood fave car the Evo Lancer for the 370Z.
Thats about it for me...

Horseface 12-29-2009 11:51 AM

I'm not (yet) an owner... (Still looking at the new Z4, but it's slowly losing the battle due to me lusting after new audio and camera gear instead)

...But I'm a 36 yr old European, married, pasty white, professional artist and noise maker, childfree and with no debts whatsoever. And I aim to stay that way.

Not telling you about my assets... ;)

:tiphat:

"not yet an owner too." still got my eyes on the Z and been planning here and there for the mods when I get one.

used to own a 2003 Honda S2000 Type-V.

20, entrepreneur.

BrianMSmith 12-29-2009 01:47 PM

39 y/o, homeowner, 3 kids :10, 7, 2. Thankful that I saved my money when I was in my 20's.....I drove a hot rodded Camaro SS for 8 years, so this is my first real sports car, though the SS did a fair imitation.

The wife drives the 8 seat Outback kid/bike/hobby hauler, I had to buy the family car first to accomodated the new child, so my sports car had to wait another couple years, and I'm glad because the 370Z was worth waiting for. I thought about a Corvette, but simply too expensive when you have the Z as an option.

I also cause trouble on my old Ducati 748S when I get the chance.

The wife, age 35, never worked, but is just starting school for her new mid-life career in a couple years, so I am looking forward to quintupling my discretionary income, getting a vacation home, and taking advantage of my 7 weeks of vacation (earned after 15 years of employment) to enjoy the Z and other hobbies...road trips through eastern Oregon, 120 corners in 12 miles, that sort of thing. I never had the time or the money until the last few years....

Good luck!

I agree with every word you said. That also describes me perfectly, except for the condo and girlfriend thing.

When I was in college, I was barely able to make ends meet with the mafia tuition fees that I had to pay. I wonder where do those people get all teh $$$ from to finance tuition and a sports car

shabarivas 12-29-2009 01:52 PM

19 - purchased my G35 (w/ a little help from my mom for the downpayment)
21 - purchased '91 300zx
23 - purchased my Evo X - also happened to write it off soon after
24 - sold G and used my evo moneys towards the Z
