Lets be honest here - look at a large majority of people buying imports. Fast and the Furious fan boys who are hard rollers, far too cool to toss a simple wave of respect. Everyone has that attitude like they have something to prove. Just look at the way they're always portrayed in the movies - badasses who are too cool to talk to one another instead of welcoming a newbie with open arms.

On the other hand, if you look at the modded domestic crew (like, seriously motor modded...Im not talking lowering springs and wheels douches) - they obviously bought the car because the ease of mod-ability and a self-proclaimed love for their vehicle of choice. Its a much smaller, generally tighter-knit community because everyone else and their mother wants a true sports car like a Scion tC with a dealer-installed TRD supercharger kit. They need to take what respect they can get, and being as I HAD a modded Camaro like that, getting a thumbs up from an import guy was an immediate sign that he was NOT a douche, and I didn't hesitate to throw one back.

Indeed. Definitely a different crowd than when I was running with the vette, fbod, and goat people.

To be honest, I miss the community I had back in Omaha, NE. Sounds silly, but they had some SERIOUS car guys out there, that really did whatever they could to go fast as cheap as possible. No flashy body kits or ******** like that - a lot of really tasteful stuff. We had a weekly car show at a local bar/restaurant that, on a day with good weather, 200+ people would show. Who cares how many were repeat attendees...it was just nice to BS and get some real car enthusiast chatter in there. Rat rods, ground-up classic resto's, new age tuners - you name it, it was there. And everyone got along. Ok, minus the dumbasses showing up with their sound systems and blasting them while they rolled hard through the lot - and THOSE are the same kinds of guys I don't want to associate with.

We have had some car gatherings that have been brought down by that type of crap as well. I don't even bother anymore.

Even though he was KINDA a douche, we had a cop who showed in uniform all the time....off duty in his 60's Chevelle. But none the less, it did a decent job warding off the morons tried doing burnouts and rolling through subs-a-blaring...

rofl, nice. so even though he was kind of a douche, he reduced the douche of others so much it offset his own doucheness.

djsizzy 12-26-2009 05:02 PM

My Dad has owned a vette for years now, and they all wave to each other. It would be cool if we had a community like that as well.

JakeZ34 12-27-2009 02:54 AM

I try to wave if it permits at all the Z heritage lines 240,300,350, or 370Z but unfortunately in california everyone is ignorant as fxxk and won't return your waves or thumbs up and some will even go out of their way just to flip you off or stair at you like you're retarded. I think when you do a thumbs up to them the people sitting in the 350Z is going "that fxxker in the 370 wants to race me!" But anyway, my fellow 370Z that I've seen on the road all gave me thumbs up when I do it, so again the 350Z community pisses me off a bit. lol

NewlyIMPORTed 12-27-2009 10:54 AM

yeah i waved at a guy in a 370 the other day and he just gave me this blank stair like WTF? and threw back this half wave i felt like a retard haha
