AGREED except I tend to shift 5000-5500 RPM ;)

I've been pulled over 3 times in the last 2 months. My 4500 rpm shift point is a result of my deliberate efforts to break this pattern. Let me put it this way: I'm no stranger to the shift light.

I totally agree. I guess I can still get away with shifting a bit higher because of the quiet stock exhaust. Once I upgrade it with aftermarket, I will def calm down a little.

depends on how wide your throttle is at 4k. if you WOT each time to 4k you'll use up considerably more fuel, but i dont open it up that wide for normal acceleration. i like to be in torque band for the next gear, so that is part of the reason why i rev to 4k.

that said, i dont really keep track of mpg either. :p if you want to save fuel, get another car.

That's a good point and I agree completely. My throttle is open maybe 40% at most. It's not a WOT mad dash to that 4500 rpm mark. And being in the torque band is also why I shift where I do.

Actually I believe in Ohio a judge just ruled that you cannot base a ticket on sound level or aftermarket modifications. Meaning, "well the radar freaked out, but I knew he was speeding because of the sound of his exhaust." That does not hold up in court.

I don't rev high at all, but why is my gas mileage 14mpg??? hehehehe....

wow.. really? that's def not followed by State Troopers here because I got pulled over for accelerating TOO aggressively on an accelerating lane going into a big highway. The trooper was facing the opposite way but he heard my excessive "noise" while accelerating and pulled me over. He clearly told me it's the aggressive "accelerating NOISE" that distracted and led him to pull me over. I was going to ask him," If I can't accelerate FREELY on "acceleration lane", maybe they should rename it to "slowly get on to the highway lane"! lol.. but I kept my cool and didn't say anything.

Did he write you a ticket?
I am sure they can pull you over for whatever they damn please, but if he attempted to write me a ticket...well lets just say I would enjoy the justice system. :)

of course he didn't get a ticket, he told the officer he's not just a member of the370Z.com, he's also the president...

:bowrofl: Nicely DONE :tiphat:.

He told me that he CAN give me a ticket but he's going to let me go for this time (in my mind I'm saying, "WTF did I really do??). He did give me a $54 ticket (non moving violation) and a warning.

another reason why my car is stock. :D

areyouin729 12-14-2009 04:25 PM

around 3500 and higher gears 4000+

tbonesteak 12-14-2009 04:27 PM

i shift at 2500-3000 normally, 4-5k when im feeling cuhhraaazeee. hahaha. This car has so much torque compared to my s2k that even shifting at 2500 feels crazy for me.
