Street price is$42,000. A used GT-R is 60,000 in questionable condition and maintenance is a lot more expensive.

Dream Team 07-16-2017 08:20 AM

You can still get the red in Canada but not the silver. Might be worth it to have it shipped. I hate it when these companies offer or don't offer something in one region and not the other. I get they are two different countries but were are not talking China here. They are literally next door to each other. Canada doesn't get the Heritage addition which blows my mind considering it is a stripe package and 3 leather bits. Canada didn't get the sport package for years either it went from base to touring although we get it this year. Sorry for the rant but I think things like paint and stripe packages should be available North America wide.

Actually maintenance costs didn't actually cross my mind so I'm glad you mentioned it; However right after I posted, I saw an article mentioning a new Z will be unveiled this year (sorry if this is old news). Might wait to see what that entails.

Also, do you think I'd be hard to find a used GTR in good condition? Or would you say the original owners just rag them the f*** out then move on? Thanks for the advice guys!

The lower the miles, the better.

My mind is seriously blown right now. I didn't expect them to take away 2 of the measly 4 color options they provided. The red on red didn't make sense to me, never liked white and black is a pita to maintain. If anything, I was expecting them to add more options such as blue and that dark metallic silver or whatever like some of you already mentioned :yum:. The only color I was interested in was silver as well!!
Hmm I'm beginning to think I should purchase soon now as there are only two within a reasonable driving distance from me - still in different states sigh. I wonder what the future of the Z is now. Everyone including myself was wrong. We were all expecting either the end of the Z34 or a TT Z35. Instead we get this.....:shakes head:

KCZ 07-17-2017 09:11 AM

I live on a dirt road. I'll never be able to own a white or black car without it looking like ****.

So for those who are/were interested in purchasing nismos....what is your consensus? Did your plan change?

I'm looking for a silver 2017. I'll stick with the auto, I was considering the manual, but... oh well. I'm not willing to pay more than $39,000 OTD at this point, brand new or $32,000 with less than 5,000 miles on it and NO paint blemishes.

Praying for a Z concept, but doubtful.

Anybody NOTICE the NEW sport package WHEELS?

https://www.nissanusa.com/buildyournissan/colors/index

The Z34 will run until 2019, mark my words. We won't see a Z35 till 2020 model.

Dream Team 07-18-2017 05:33 PM

Agreed.....this slight refresh was not intended for just 2018. It is likely the bridge to 2020 which would be the actually 50 year anniversary. Which is okay because then I can get one of the last ever NA engines in a Z car :)

I am really on the fence now because I'm not buying a '18 Nismo in black or white. For this price I should be able to pick an actual color that I want. And I'll still have to deal with the CSC replacement.

So...
Look for a '17 Nismo in red? (How fast is this window of opportunity going to close?)
Buy an '18 non-Nismo and mod it? (Been there, done that, don't want to do it again.)
Just keep my modded 350Z?

I'm still massively angry with Nissan for discontinuing the Xterra. This is 2 strikes. The third will be if the next gen Z is an I4 TT POS that looks like the baby GT-R concept rendering.

Yes, I have them on my 2018 Touring Sport Coupe.Didn't like them when I first saw them, but they've grown on me .Lot of Z guys on the forum aren't too crazy about them but I really like 'em now & that's all that counts. Also did a search the other night & found that I have the only TSC in the province,(for now) although one dealer has a 2018 white roadster TSC.

KCZ 07-18-2017 08:33 PM

The US no longer has a Touring Sport Coupe for 2018, just Touring or Sport. And the Touring is only available as an automatic. Looks like Canada is being offered packages and colors that aren't available in the US, which I don't understand because fewer 370Z's must be sold in Canada.

Yes more are sold in the U.S. but Canada is ten times smaller yet still bought about 1000 Z's last year compared to around 5000 in the States so we are punching above our weight Lol. The really weird part is Canada has not been offered the Sport model for many years. This year we get the sport. I don't know why all options are not the same across North America. We don't get the Heritage Edition which makes no sense either.

I like this color more the more I see it....same with the rims. Is that the new Passion Red?

KCZ 07-18-2017 09:06 PM

Passion Red is brighter than Solid Red?

You are correct about the red, sir.The car was so new when it hit Canada the dealers had very little info,(still no brochures or warranty manuals) so my bill of sale says Solid Red.As far as I've been able to research, it's the only 2018 TSC in the province- at this time.:tiphat:

I made a mistake on the color as it shows Passion red on the bill of sale.I was doubtful about the color and finally checked the Lh door sill tag.It is coded A54 which I believe is solid red.

Firstly, I seriously doubt there will be a new Z anytime soon or ever. If and when it happens, it will definitely not be what you expect. Probably a 4 cylinder turbo or even some sort of hybrid on a crossover platform. Let's face it, these are the last of the true Z's.

Secondly, it's almost impossible to find a used GTR that hasn't had the sh*t kicked out of it, usually on track. And that's if you find a stock one. I'd love to upgrade to a GTR one day but I know the pitfalls of buying one used.

babyzilla 07-19-2017 06:59 AM

This is an unrelated question, but I cannot find the answer anywhere...are there any differences between the nismo tech version vs 16/17 models?

Zingston 07-19-2017 08:57 AM

I think you are right Cyber. I just saw that Honda eliminated the Accord coupe... and while certainly not a direct competitor for the Z, the trend for all coupes isn't looking hopeful.

I compared the '18 specs on the Nissan website with the specs in the '17 brochure. Besides the EXEDY clutch and Dunlops, the things listed for the '18 that weren't listed for '17 are:

Smoked taillights and door handles
Power outside mirrors
Dual exhaust finishers
UV-reducing solar glass
Illuminated cruise control
Key-operated windows
Audio--MP3 playback

So not much difference, if any, other than the clutch and tires.

I read that the smoked tail lights are new, but I wouldn't be surprised if the other stuff is unchanged from '17.

Thanks for the info peeps....I may be a Z owner this Saturday if this salesperson gets off his high horse lol

Story time: Yesterday I went to a nissan dealership and the salesperson didn't know what a nismo was. ::sigh::

Good luck. I've been trying to find a dealer within a reasonable distance that has both a 370Z Sport and a Nismo so I can test drive them back-to-back with my 350Z. Most of my phone calls have been massively frustrating.

I don't understand. Either sales are picking back up (which I think they are, or at least in the used segment) or they're just being typical salespeople. I don't get calls back, no follow ups, no nothing. As a matter of fact one dealer I had to call 3 times and every time it was "I'll call you right back after I get numbers." Then theres this dealer who checks back with me only to offer the same price and gets frustrated that I'm not flexible. All these salespeople that ive been talking to are saying these cars are in high demand. I honestly dont even know what to tell them. its like arguing with a stupid person..

280z/300zx 07-20-2017 12:10 PM

You most likely need to go in person. Most dealers don't take you too seriously when you call. I find that if you actually show up then it shows them your are more apt to buy. After you've made that contact then you can usually get away with doing things over the phone.

And no, these cars are not in high demand. Especially if you wait another couple months. Once fall/winter starts to come on sports car demand drops. I bought my 09 special ordered when they first came out for 500 below invoice and bought my 2010 NISMO at invoice. Just takes patience and finding the right dealer.

That's good in theory, but when the nearest dealer with a Nismo is a whole day away, round trip, I need to lay some groundwork over the phone. Just showing up and finding out the car on their website is stored in a warehouse in the next county and not available to look at, let alone test drive, is not an option.

Just noticed that the 2018 hardtop comes with a hatch release button in the center console where the soft top up/down button goes.

Also the Tokyo auto show starts this friday. As much as I doubt there will be a new Z I'm still getting anxious of the possibility that they might surprise us.

Besides based on the rumors coming out of Nissan many on hear will not like the next Z if it offers no manual or isn't naturally aspirated or heaven forbid is some type of sporty crossover.

Well one of the bragging rights for this generation Z when it came out was that it was faster and better than the Mustangs and Camaros of the same year. Now it's been surpassed.

Come on why no price reductions. There have been no R&D costs to speak of in years.

It's been the same price years... What else you want? The Z has NO COMPETITOR. They have no one to be price competitive with...

Nissan dealers know the Z is a relic andoften discount the car greatly in a deal. Especially during Dec n Jan. You can get a base Z 27k otd
