What did you do with your Z today V (ON TOPIC DISCUSSION ONLY)

Replaced my door speakers with some Kenwoods. I wasn't trying to go overboard, just update the system for some fuller sound. I also replaced any broken clips on the door

Replaced my door speakers with some Kenwoods. I wasn't trying to go overboard, just update the system for some fuller sound. I also replaced any broken clips on the door card.

I also added some 20mm hub-centric spacers on the rear wheels to fix the fit of the square wheel setup.

As a road cyclist I can confirm, if there's any car in front of me willing to maintain a steady 30-35mph, it's amazing how much reduced your effort gets and how much easier it is to hold that speed. Without a car in front, you could sustain such speed maybe for max half a minute.

Isn't the point of cycling to exert effort?

True but you're still exerting effort, high speed (in cyclist terms) riding is also needed, to train at high cadence and different speed dynamics. It's never easier, you only get faster

This weekend was super long for me and my brother. I did the gallery gaskets, timing chain, tensioners, etc.. Went on to replace the valve cover gaskets and added z1 coil packs. We added on some z1 motor mounts since it was easy to do with the entire front end off. I replaced the radiator, and ended up adding z1 silicone hoses. After we wrapped all of that up, I did a OEM oil cooler delete and added a 34 row oil cooler with thermostatic plate.

This was the most intense project I have done, and we managed to get it all done it two days somehow. So far no leaks, but only time will tell !!

On my drive home I realized I need to make a block off plate for half of this oil cooler, here is Missouri the winter can get cold. It only got above 180F sitting still, the highway it was around 165F which is not ideal for me.

I am thinking a aluminum panel held on with some high temp Velcro and a few bolts maybe, idk.

If you have the thermostatic plate, the oil cooler should have little to no effect of cooling oil until you're above 78°C

I finally decided that I'm going to sell/trade in my Z. I've had it since new and I bought it ten years ago this month. The Z has been reliable and has never left me calling for a hook.

I just broke 107k and have only had a handful of repairs that I've had to do besides fluids, filters and normal wear items like brakes and tires. Im going to get a truck due to the fact that I now live in Northern Utah and have 4 seasons. I'll be getting another toy in a couple of years which will probably be a Mustang GT, 6MT, performance pack with the active exhaust since I think it is quite a bargain for what you get compared to the new Z. Plus, I'll have back seats and a trunk. The 5.0 is a good motor and easy to work on.

Good luck on your purchase!

I can't part with my Z. It's not the money I spent on it, but the time. My next vehicle is going to be a motorcycle!

I have all of the parts to do the front motor refresh in my garage, but I'm putting it off as long as i can!

Getting the rear differential serviced and upgraded this Friday and throwing in a nismo gt pro lsd while they have it apart, other than that, have been taking her to the local road course the last couple months and I have to say, it’s nice to have her back out on the track to be able to really open her up and really see how much fun this car is

Grab some through core fan mounting straps, drill holes in the block off plate covering the number of desired rows. You can then add additional block off plates by simply wedging them under the 1st mounted plate. I'm in S. Fla. and my 27 row Setrab is half covered with a Thermo. plate for routine street driving.

New limited slip has officially been installed, about 250 miles in from initial install and it just keeps feeling better and better….i do have to say though while they advertise the nismo gt pro lsd as vdc compatible, the vdc system doesn’t very much like it and will overreact if the diff locks up too quickly, so I’ve found that if I want to drive a little more aggressively I just turn the vdc system off and if I’m cruising I just leave it on. It is a little noisier at low speed sharp turns, but nothing I can’t live with, really looking forward to see how it behaves out on the track here in a couple weeks

Picked it up from the dealership today. It was due for regular maintenance, and I had been dealing with the dreaded clicking noise from the axles when the weight of the vehicle shifted upon acceleration and when coming to a stop. They performed the TSB where they push back the axles, apply grease and replace the axle nuts, washers and cotter pins.

I’ve only driven it a few miles since picking it up, but the car feels a lot better. No more annoying (and embarrassing) clicking noise and it feels a lot “tighter” overall. Glad that’s all out of the way now. Looking forward to enjoying it even more
