Not today but I picked up another Z finally. Chicane yellow with sport package and 6MT :D

Ordered the Zspeed cmak kit. Also went with their Stage 2 clutch kit.

I did notice on track my clutch going to the floor on hot days. So a little of proactive maintenance before I get stranded.

My buddy made me some keychains.

Got the cmak and clutch kit installed. Definitely smoother clutch action than before. The single mass/lighter flywheel is interesting. Car starts up much easier and cruising in 6th gear is a bit different. Need to breakin this clutch before next month track event.

I love my Exedy Stage 1 w/ Single mass LWFW. Def perks up the car. I love the faint sound of flywheel chatter on idle!

I did some weight loss mods:

1. Finally removed rear spare tire, tools, and Bose sub
2. Z1 Front Strut bar
3. Powertex LI battery
4. Ohlins TTX 2-ways

Should add up to about -65lbs. Just in time for the new suspension install

How long did it take for it to arrive from when you ordered it? I had to wait close to 5 months.

I waited 5 weeks. Granted, I order right before Christmas. So I wasn't expecting it to ship out till 1st or 2nd week of Jan. But it shipped alittle later than that. George was good at responding to me inquires.

Picked up some HFC off FB marketplace. I had a question for you guys. What are these barrels hanging off of them? Resonators?

Im hoping these arent too loud. :ugh2: Any insight is much appreciated.

Rusty 02-28-2025 05:43 PM

Those are for drone control. Helmholtz resonators.

I had to get the Z fixed at Specialty Z. Here's the back story.

On my way home Thursday, I took surface street vs the freeway. My car broke down along Balboa Blvd, shuddering violently slowing me down, and started to see smoke coming out of my AC vents. It was 3 pm. I got stuck at the center yellow lines between opposing traffic. AAA had trouble finding my location despite clear description of the street I was on and the cross streets. She said she could not locate the cross streets. This took forever. I waited two hours for tow to arrive with cars running fast left and right. One guy stopped and offered help. The tow truck finally showed up and the guy started taking pictures of the car from all sides. Went back to his truck talking to someone on the phone, went back and said he couldn’t do it and to call AAA again. It was too low and left.

My wife arrived and waited in one of the side streets. The car cooled down, so I managed to limp the car safely onto one of the side streets and parked. I popped the hood open and saw dried up blue coolant all over the engine bay. A heater hose broke, releasing coolant all over. More bad luck, it was in a bad cell area, AAA couldn’t make out my location, I was waving down cars for help, just to tell me the city I was in because AAA couldn’t find the city, no one would stop until one good Samaritan stopped by and answered my question. You’re in Granada Hills, he said. I then got cut off while on the phone with AAA. I called again and told her I need a tilt bed tow truck with a ramp for lowered cars. She calls back 30 mins later and said 2 more hours but no guarantee they’ll find anyone, and if they did, I’d have to sign a damage waiver. I called Seb at Specialty Z and he said call this guy in Burbank. It was 6:45 by the time he showed up which is when he said he’d get there. He showed up in his black and chrome polished rig. He had exactly what lowered cars needed, a tilt rig, a solid winch, a race ramp, and a wireless remote controller. My wife and I followed him and got to Simi Valley at 7:30 to drop off the car.

Got home by 8:45. What a night. That was 6 hours without using the restroom. I was lucky on that one.

Heater core hose, coupler, clamps, some other dry/cracked hoses and fluids done. Tranny and diff fluids checked and all good. Thank you Seb!

Original 13 year old heater hoses?

Download the AAA app. no directions needed as it uses your GPS coordinates to locate. :tiphat:
