Did my first hand wash on my new 2018 z yesterday. Spend about 3 hours washing with some new products. Bilt Hamber touchless and a few others.
Continued today with another 3 hours. Decon wash and two stage paint correction on the hood. Used 3D One + meguiars microfibre cutting pad. Then a jeweling step with sonax perfect finish and a rupes yellow foam pad. Hood has some paint chips in it otherwise i would have ceramic coated it. Instead I put some Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutiions Ceramic/Graphene wax on the whole car. As i was just finishing polishing a portion of the hood I looked up to see the new 2023 Z go by. The dark blue one. Only got to see that back of it. Kind of annoyed the driver didn't give me a heads up honk when he saw I was polishing my Z. Oh well. ^ I'm going to get the Viofo 129 Pro I think this time. I watched a head to head with the thinkware and you can't really tell the difference between the thinkware 1440p rear and the viofo 1080p rear. And the viofo is cheaper and has only the features I care about. Also ordered a super low profile jack so I can lift from the front and rear service jack points. Need to get under the car soon to remove rust and spray it down with rust inhibitor. oh and i got a 100usd refund on the doors. I harvested all the darker nismo colour parts out of them to transplant to my car. EDIT: Actually going to pick up a thinkware u1000. The parking features and the radar sensor make it a better buy over the viofo imo. |
Yeah, it depends on what you want to prioritize when shopping for a dash cam. I'm not too worried about parking as my mentality is "oh well, that's what insurance is for", but recording quality for price was my main target. Specifically, getting tailgaters. People here get really offended if you drive the speed limit in a sports car. Even if you are in the right lane.

To add to that, your toe settings are going to be what wears the tires out quickly. I have around -2.4 degrees of camber all around and no real issues.

Blacked out and added halos to the headlights. Second one isn't done yet, so more fun tomorrow, then I've got to wetsand and clear them.
edit - Finished and pic attached |

Finally got around to installing the stillen gen 3 long tube CAI. Haven't driven since last fall so not sure how much of a difference it made but engine bay looks a little better at least.

What did you do with your Z today V (ON TOPIC DISCUSSION ONLY)
First autocross of the season (in reasonable weather at least). Smashed a cone and ripped out my fender liner, overdid my new ‘street’ brake pads, and blew out an exhaust gasket before the muffler when an exhaust bolt rattled off. The car sounds like a monster truck now. Eventful day to say the least!! Lol
I guess I was too optimistic that basic ‘street’ pads would be fine for autocross. Although the course I’m running in RI has some very open sections where I’m able to get pretty deep into 3rd gear. Probably 80mph or so. I did enjoy that these pads had much more modulation whereas I found myself locking up the fronts too easily under hard braking with the carbotechs. I’m going to have to step up to something like EBC Red/Yellowstuff for a dailyable pad that can better handle autox. Any recommendations or should I just go right to the EBCs and call it a day? Had a quick weekend trip to see the family this weekend… averages 28.2 mpg over 240 miles with some stop n go…peaked at 29.4. I’ve never seen above 24 in this car, so that was wild. It felt moderately practical for a second when I had my two doggos in the car, and getting that MPG… :roflpuke2:

My 2018 Sportech with 6M transmission averages around 28 mpg on mostly highway driving. My 2019 Sport Touring with a 7 auto transmission averages about 30 mpg for mostly highway. I drive like an old man and the weather is warm when I drive, so I don't think that I can do better than that.
