Reviving this thread because....

Had 2 dots left in my nis, was at full throttle on my way back from work in 3rd gear, (2 miles from home) on the highway, about to get an exit, at 6k RPM and the car dies. First thought was omg my Z is dead. Pulled over on the exit ramp, called my buddy and he picked me up and we got a gas can, 2 gal of 93 later it started.

That low and you could have had the fuel starvation on right hand turns the car is famous for. Also, you have to remember at full throttle you may only be getting 4 or 5 mpg so what you have left will go really quick.

Always keep the dots ringin! I dont want to be that one person who is stranded on the highway and has to call someone for gas. Then that person says u are on ur own, and dont bother calling back. :bowrofl:

Ive never ran out of gas but I have had fuel starvation happen like 5 or 6 times (half of them when on the track). Funny enough I was only stranded twice and neither of those were on the track.

18.57 gallons costing $75 last week. I completely forgot till i seen the low light indicator. Still had 1 dot remaining and made plenty of right hand turns with no problems.

Never go low:

1. If you ever get stuck in traffic, u r dead.
2. Ever get called on an emergency and find out you are low on gas? Every minute counts and you don't want to to be looking at a gas station.
3. Ever lost in a bad neighborhood?
4. Ever with your love ones in the middle of the night and you are in between cities?
5. Anyone remember the California Northridge earthquake? All gas stations were down! You can have all the $ in the world but no gas to buy. I am sure other states have had calamities where $ is worthless.

I was just going to say, I 've never forgotten the Loma Prieta quake that shut down the Central Coast gas stations for a day or two. (that's the one that happened during the World Series game) I never like to go below about 1/3 of a tank.
