ARK Exhaust system and Z1 Motorsports Spacers installed
What's up guys! New here, just picked up my 370Z 2 weeks ago. I just got in my first parts (wife insisted I get an exhaust for father's day...:happydance:) I also had already upgraded the stock head unit as it was seriously lacking and replaced it with the Pioneer 6.2" AVH-X391BHS with backup camera. Looks and sounds so much better.
As far as exhaust, I had it narrowed down to either FI, Armytrix or ARK. After speaking with multiple vendors, I went with the ARK True Dual GRIP CBE from Vivid Racing (thanks for the amazing deal Austin!). I also wanted to add some high quality spacers to get that nice aggressive flush look and went with with 20mm CNC Aluminum Bolt-On Wheel Spacers (front and rear) from Z1 Motorsports (great guys too). These first few mods have really made a big difference in how the car looks, sounds and performs. I know I"ll need a tune and some test pipes to get the most out of bolt-ons, so that will be a project for next year. For now, I just flat out love the stance, sound and performance from this car thanks to the latest mods. The first car I bought was a 350Z, so Japanese muscle cars have always been a favorite of mine. Looking forward to learning a lot on the forum and from you guys and hopefully getting in on some local meets! Until then, here are some pics :driving: <a href="http://s24.photobucket.com/user/computerdoc275/media/img_1496464250586_zpscfrbqdnc.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c29/computerdoc275/img_1496464250586_zpscfrbqdnc.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo img_1496464250586_zpscfrbqdnc.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s24.photobucket.com/user/computerdoc275/media/img_1496463561008_zpsujtiwnt9.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c29/computerdoc275/img_1496463561008_zpsujtiwnt9.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo img_1496463561008_zpsujtiwnt9.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s24.photobucket.com/user/computerdoc275/media/20170605_225036_zpss1nbwxod.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c29/computerdoc275/20170605_225036_zpss1nbwxod.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20170605_225036_zpss1nbwxod.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s24.photobucket.com/user/computerdoc275/media/20170605_224933_zpslricgjih.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c29/computerdoc275/20170605_224933_zpslricgjih.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20170605_224933_zpslricgjih.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s24.photobucket.com/user/computerdoc275/media/img_1496463647087_zps6wdlyhz2.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c29/computerdoc275/img_1496463647087_zps6wdlyhz2.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo img_1496463647087_zps6wdlyhz2.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s24.photobucket.com/user/computerdoc275/media/img_1496463778485_zpseohnm2cx.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c29/computerdoc275/img_1496463778485_zpseohnm2cx.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo img_1496463778485_zpseohnm2cx.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s24.photobucket.com/user/computerdoc275/media/img_1496464457739_zpsjyzushrt.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c29/computerdoc275/img_1496464457739_zpsjyzushrt.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo img_1496464457739_zpsjyzushrt.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s24.photobucket.com/user/computerdoc275/media/img_1496463362530_zpsxpkphtyk.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c29/computerdoc275/img_1496463362530_zpsxpkphtyk.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo img_1496463362530_zpsxpkphtyk.jpg"/></a> |
Glad to see you're getting mod happy already :) Welcome to the club buddy!

I'll be combing through many threads for research, but I was curious on your thoughts on going with upgrading the intakes vs test pipes and a tune? I've read that the factory setup seems to be really efficient and the best gains (just from what I've gathered) seem to come from going with a high quality exhaust system, test pipes and tune for the largest power gains as far as minor bolt-ons go. |
Looks great man!
|
Just out of curiosity, why did you go with the ARK exhaust and not the Motordyne shockwave? I ask because the Shockwave is only a few hundred more and similar setup. BTW beautiful car.
|
Looks good man, congrats!
|
Congrats OP, your car looks bad azz. I see a new front sway bar and end links in your future. Also maybe a new quaife rear differential....J/K have fun with the mods.
|
I really like that exhaust. .nice!

I'd like to invest in some test pipes and possibly a CAI next (and a tune to take advantage of the mods), but it could be next year until all that happens. Until then, I"m having a blast in the Z :driving: It's very nostalgic after owning a 2003 350Z in LeMans Sunset (first car I actually bought). |
the 370z is already 8 years old, and it's style is still very up to date.

Hey I'm also curious about your wheel spacers. I've read a lot about vibration issues after installing wheel spacers. Are you experiencing any extra vibration on the highways or high speeds? Also, I worry about the tires now able to throw gravel onto the paint because the wheels are farther out than before. It does look really good though. I want them but am skeptical of those two possible issues. |

I love the track tuned suspension and forged wheels, so since I won't be changing either, we went with 20mm up front and 20mm in the back. I see where some go as far as 25mm in the rear, but I'd like to possibly go to a 285 or 305 in the back later and that would definitely push it (don't want to roll the fenders or scrub). The possibility of getting some paint chips from the more aggressive stance is there, but well worth it IMO. I never take it on the interstate and keep my distance from other cars. Dr. Color Chip does an excellent job on repairing the occasional chip though when it does happen =) |
Absolutely beautiful car. You may want to add some Intakes as your next project now. Quick question, what exactly was the Deal breaker on the FI exhaust? (I'm about to get an exhaust myself, and FI is up there as first candidate)

FI was on my list until I found out how long I'd be waiting, lol. This is their busy season, so you are looking at 3 months or more. If there weren't so many options, I could have waited, but I absolutely LOVE this ARK system! The welds, sound, look and power gains are right there with any other high end exhaust system for the 370Z. No drone, exotic like tone up top, gorgeous design (loads of compliments already) and those Tecno tips...my goodness those things look amazing against the Magnetic Black paint :happydance: |
