I'll have to agree with 370zsteve on that one. I dont understand what really constitutes as a 'mid life crisis' and whether it really exists! it's an urban myth in my book! What's wrong in someone wanting to drive a sports car when they're not in Teens, 20s,or even 30s? Maybe circumstances prohibited them to owning one. Maybe they simply love sports cars in general.. I'm 25. So no, my defence is not from experienced knowledge but I can say it isn't biased.

ANYWAYS to OP.
like everyone else said. If you have things to carry, get G, if not Z.
Both are amazing cars and I contemplated the exact same. (But up here in Canada, we do not have "Base" Z.)
Styling on Z is definitely much nicer than G IMO stock v stock but i think modified G looks as nice

I just finished a Developmental Psychology class in Nursing and we learned that a "mid-life crisis" is a MYTH. It was on a test. lol... They also claim that "Empty Nest Syndrome" is also a MYTH. I'm more likely to suffer from the latter than the former. My 370Z isn't a mid-life crisis since I've had a 240Z, 280Z, 300ZX..I just love me some Z's

Edited to say: I did test drive the G37 coupe and the G37 convertible...But the Z won.

Because if that's you in the avie, then you're not old enough for the former...

Well I'm almost 40, so that is getting close! My oldest will be leaving the nest in about 4 years

I'm nearing 60 and I've just liked hot/stylish cars all my life. Any affordable 2-seater (well, except maybe not a Miata... ).

I think they need the G at this stage of their marriage if they're only going to have a single vehicle. If they will have w vehicles, then I'd give more weight to the 2-seater.

Yeah, I'm there too.....You pick your cars to support your current stage in life. There are just times when a Minvan or 4 seater are just plain necessary. I have the Z, My wife has an Element, though she'd rather see herself in a Miata... I can see the need for 3 cars in the future, to help her with her image needs, and to maintain the practicality of the current rides... Usually 3 cars for the two of us is the magic formula. I've had 3 Miata's in the past...I can see a fourth to round out the stable....You guys can laugh all you want, but they are awesome drivers..

My other sports car is my M edition Miata I bought new in 1996 and will keep until my last day. I've put virtually every available aftermarket item on it and it is a true showpiece and future collector's car with only 35,000 mi. Although, like two of your kids, it and the Z have very different personalities, I love them both and will keep them both the rest of my years.

That's a totally sweet car. Interestingly, the other sports car I was cross-shopping against the Z was a new MX-5 Miata. I love that car - Definitely a pure driver's car in every sense of the word, despite what others may ignorantly think.

Post some pics of the Miata!

Don't knock the Miata. I've owned a 1st-gen and it's an awesome ride. Brilliant handling at any price-point...

In fact, I'd take a hard-top MX-5 over a Z4 for half the price!
