I have the Z, My wife has an Element, though she'd rather see herself in a Miata... I can see the need for 3 cars in the future, to help her with her image needs, and to maintain the practicality of the current rides... Usually 3 cars for the two of us is the magic formula. I've had 3 Miata's in the past...I can see a fourth to round out the stable....You guys can laugh all you want, but they are awesome drivers..

My other sports car is my M edition Miata I bought new in 1996 and will keep until my last day. I've put virtually every available aftermarket item on it and it is a true showpiece and future collector's car with only 35,000 mi. Although, like two of your kids, it and the Z have very different personalities, I love them both and will keep them both the rest of my years.

Bought it couple of weeks ago. But the debate between the both would help others to make a decision too.

oo7, I ended up going for the Z also! :happydance:

matrix_square 12-29-2009 07:43 PM

i would have bought them both... traded in the sedan... and by the time you guys are ready for children both would be paid off...

That's a totally sweet car. Interestingly, the other sports car I was cross-shopping against the Z was a new MX-5 Miata. I love that car - Definitely a pure driver's car in every sense of the word, despite what others may ignorantly think.

Post some pics of the Miata!

oo7mech 12-31-2009 12:27 AM

On order? Where do you live where you can't get one right away? Almost every Nissan dealer i've been to had 4 of them

I decided to not go for the G, these were my conclusions, of course very personal to me:

- External looks, Z wins. Wife will surely look sexy in it.
- Keeping my old 4 seater so '2 seater being inconvenient for trips to the city' eliminated, Z wins
- When I get older, I would go for an even more luxurious car than the G. Plenty out there. I'm a fan of great interiors (incidently I was the one who started the wood trim in the Z thread..LOL! because I was going thru the exact same problem of the Z not being luxurious from the inside).. Z wins
- When I get older, no offense to anyone, it'd be nice to not be associated with a mid life crisis. Z wins at age 24 :)

Z now, luxury car later. Hope that helps.

oo7mech 04-23-2010 12:57 PM

What makes it even harder, if you put both cars right next to each other.
or maybe for you, it could make it easier.
Pictures of both

fullmonty 04-23-2010 01:38 PM

I'll take the Z over the G

Trips 04-23-2010 01:44 PM

Both are Good Cars, it's just a matter of personal needs

elmz 04-23-2010 02:13 PM

It would be the Z all the way for me, that's an easy one! As luxurious as the G may be, the Z is a drivers car.

Jeffblue 04-23-2010 02:20 PM

Its tough, you've got a sports car with the transmission that should be in a luxury car, and you've got the luxury car with the transmission that should be in the sports car. I'd go with the G for the 6spd. you got the G because you wanted a 6pd sporty car, if you're always going to want the 6spd i'd stay with it.

Be a G and take the G

FuszNissan 04-23-2010 04:21 PM

G = 2 Door Luxury Sedan
Z = Sports Car

And G37 = Gee I wish I had a 370Z

forza370z 01-03-2012 07:53 PM

I know it's an old thread. But very interesting... I am from an 06 G35 coupe to an 09 370z. I actually still have the G. I consider the G as a performence luxury coupe and Z as a true sports car. It really depends on what you want. In my case, I want a true sports car. So I went to Z eventually.

As both G and Z driver, I can tell you this - people does give me thumb ups time by time while I am in the G. But when I am in the Z, people give me thumb ups ALL THE TIME even following me taking pix. Btw, my g35 was pimped out while my z is born stock. So consider this as a factor too!:P Like me, now the first mod I want to do is to tint my windows to get some private.:D

Fixed it for yeah.

UNKNOWN_370 01-03-2012 09:30 PM

Calling the G a luxury coupe is an overstatement. Calling it a dedicated sports car is also an overstatement. The G is a high performance premium coupe with luxury features. The G performance is underestimated often on this site. But the Z is better in all areas of performance except I think the G is more stable at high speeds. It inspires more confidence at over 120mph.

TerribleONE 01-03-2012 09:38 PM

Sounds like the G is a better fit however I came out of a G37 and am very happy with the 370Z.. It is not my daily driver though and I do plan on tracking it..

The Z is more raw, for sure... but the G is no slouch. Modifying a G is fun too. Especially with rims and bodykit. The G looks more dramatic when modded. But the Z is more exhilerating behind the wheel. Shorter wheelbase and lighter weight help.

kenchan 01-04-2012 03:34 PM

the G and Z are two VERY DIFFERENT cars... i will say that as an owner of both.

and i am not a fan of the G37C styling... im waiting for the next gen G. :p

The Z monster 01-05-2012 09:17 AM

you should trade both cars in for a hyundai elantra

As having owned both G's, I actually felt the styling was an improvement. I just felt the G35 did a better job of having performance that was closely related to the 350z vs the G37s on the 370z. The 37hr cars definately don't share as many driving characteristics as the 35's. The G35 performance was just more of a true sport coupe. The G37, though still high performance feels more refined. And I don't mean more refined in a good way. The 35's definately felt more torquey as well. I'm sure that helped.

the G37C's are definitely a class up as far as refinement in the interior. but the exterior....damn wtf did they do to that thing vs the concept? I was so sold on the concept model. :ugh2: no offence to anyone with G37C's.. just my opinion. and you're right UNKNOWN, the G35C's are a lot more fun to drive than the G37C's.

forza370z 01-05-2012 09:24 PM

Yeah, that's because the g35 has faster throttle response than the new gen thus feel more torquey. But I feel my 370z pulls harder at higher rpm then my g35c(unless I had my FI carbon fiber cbe on).

ronaldr911 01-08-2012 09:39 AM

the G makes love to you, the Z effs you.
