About a dozen 1964.5-1970 Mustangs. All but the last were 6-bangers. Last one was a 1967 coupe (Mexican-block 302 +0.030 (plus other mods), 4MT (Toploader). Got rid of it and a 1998 Pontiac Gran Prix GTP (3.8 V6 Eaton SC and a HUD) to make room for the 2009 370Z Touring I had.

1968 Dodge Dart GTS (hi-po 340, bumble-bee stripe)

196x Rambler station wagon

1972 Dodge MaxiVan (great party wagon)

1968 Pontiac Tempest (230 OHC I6)

1979 Chevy Camaro Berlinetta (replaced 305 with built 283 after warranty ran out)

1964 Plymouth Valiant (slant-6, baby-blue)

2014 Dodge Challenger (3.8 V6)

Bunch more that I can't remember

It wasn't as long as it looked--only about 20 years. I traded the 300ZX in on the Infiniti--had > 250,000 miles on it. I would have kept it longer except it had the electronic dashboard which was getting very flaky and unreliable. I couldn't even find a replacement from a junkyard to take a flyer on at anything near a reasonable price. I never had a mechanical issue with it.

Man. That's a lot of cars for someone who's 40. I may be forgetting some too. Took 3 accords to over 200k miles (didn't buy them new though). My MO is buy late model Japanese luxury, and occasionally be an idiot and buy a huge American barge. As much as I love my Z, and I love it a lot, I wish I had my turbo SC back sometimes.

I didn't actually get my driver's license until I was few months shy of 18 years old, but I was given my first car at 15:

1981 Datsun Stanza hatchback 5MT (inherited it from Grandpa with 140K miles - put another 50K on it before donating it)
1988 Nissan Pathfinder 2dr (inherited it from Dad with 220K miles - put another 100K on it before some idiot hit me and insurance totaled it).
2005 Ford Explorer Sport 2dr 5MT (bought it with 50K miles - put another 100K on it before donating it in exchange for the CR-V).
1999 Honda CR-V (inherited it from Dad with 200K miles - put another 150K on it before I gave it to my cousin who promptly killed it by not changing the oil )
2001 Nissan Sentra (inherited it from Grandpa with 50K miles - put barely 2K miles on it before trading it in on a new Z for my wife).
2004 Honda Accord EX-L 6MT (bought it with 40K miles - put another 60K on it before trading it in on an Acura lease for my wife).
2011 370Z (inherited it from my wife when we got her the Acura - 91K miles and still going strong :driving:)

I can't believe one of the most integral members of this forum got his Z as a hand-me-down.

She didn't even step foot in the dealership - she sent me to look at a used Z. It was already sold when I got there, but I took a test drive anyway and fell in love. They found me a new one at another dealer with the color and options we wanted and had it shipped over - and the used car sales guy got commission on a brand new car.

I posted on behalf of my better half for the first year of ownership. Then she changed jobs and switched from a 15 minute commute against traffic to a 45 minute commute on the other side of town with ridiculous traffic and lots of hills. The 6MT wasn't fun anymore as her daily driver. I tried to convince her we needed a 7AT Z as well but no dice :icon17:

I just got back into a Z after a short while in a nice little german car and then a horrible 2 months in horse that must have been built the Monday after a full blown, all weekend long blowout (that car was seriously a P.O.S.!)

First car: 1977 Chrysler New Yorker
http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1491687161

Took that the day I bought it, at the tender age of 16...

1989 Chrysler LeBaron (brand new in '88 - Traded in the New Yorker on it... I was in the Navy and stupid. Sold it for a huge loss just to be rid of the thing when I got out.)

Following this I got into small race cars:

1972 X 1/9
1973 914
1972 240Z
1977 280Z
1981 Lotus Esprit turbo
1988 300zx

(see a trend here?)

Eventually I moved to Virginia in the late 90's and the dotcom happened, and things got a little crazy...

1966 Mustang street rod (I thought I wanted an American Classic, I was wrong - sold it two years later)
1994 F350 dually 4-door (used to move my 28' Scarab around)
1998 300zx TT

Eventually the bubble burst and I moved back to Colorado...

2006 PT Cruiser GT (Always been a Chrysler guy, so this was inevitable...)
2010 Jeep JK Rubicon (Keeping it in the family; nice trade-in value on the PT)
2012 Chrysler 300 SRT (Still in the family for the trade-in. Another land yacht - I thought I'd learned my lesson but I guess not.)
2014 Fiat 500 Abarth (Still in the family, though estranged... The cost difference between this and the SRT 300 as a trade-in actually made me some money. Still have this.)
2016 370Z (still have. I finally got out of the Chrysler Cycle.)

The best of the lot? Hard to say... A toss up between the 914 (raw driving fun in Bermuda shorts) and the 370Z (raw driving fun in business casual)

DeliriousClam 04-08-2017 05:53 PM

Beginning in late teens to today...

1. 1981 Dodge Diplomat - retired police cruiser (no interior door handles in back, no glove box as this is where the police radio had been).

2. 1979 Pontiac Firebird Esprit - when the crankshaft broke in the original (rebuilt) 301 V8, I dropped in a 400 (6.6 ltr) from a '77 Grand AM pulled out of a junkyard. An utter piece of shit in terms of reliability, but I loved the damn thing. Had more torque than power, and was a sideways driving, rubber destroying beast.

3. 1987 Toyota Celica GT - Sublime. A joy to drive. Very fun car, and my first fuel injected car. Made weaning off the V8 surprisingly easy. As an added bonus, it started every morning and never left me stranded or tried to kill me, which its predecessor did... routinely.

4. 1993 Toyota Celica GT - A nice ride, but pretty dull. Smoked a bit, otherwise, a fine car. Didn't like it as much as its older brother, tho'.

5. 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S - Beautiful looking and handling car. Really fucking slow, tho'. Eventually I added an overdriven roots blower, a custom A2W intercooler, and methanol injection. It was only a bit slower than the Z, astoundingly. Still, I don't recommend anyone make their project car their only car... after a while, it had to go. I learned how to tune on this car.

6. 2010 Nissan 370Z Base+Sport - A dream car for me! Faster than my project car and also brand new. My first new car. Wrecked it...

7. 2011 Nissan 370Z Touring+Sport - replaced the wrecked car with another Z. Love it. Nearly paid off...

8(?). Planning on a 2015-2016 Alfa Romeo 4C for my next car, quite possibly before the year is out. I'll keep ya posted...
