ChaseZ likes me a lot (like analysis - whats your ratio?)

I got bored with what college basketball had to offer me tonight... so I decided to see who likes my posts the most. I have too much time on my hands, somehow.

My post:like ratio is 1.84:1 - so I get a like slightly more often than every other post. What's your ratio?

Here are my top 30 "likers"... ChaseZ and I should be BFF.

It would appear the feeling is mutual! (though I am makin' eyes at Chuck too)

Here are the users I've given more than 1 like to. Apparently I am stingy with the likes.

You're forgetting that there is no dislike button so sometimes that one has to serve dual purpose :icon17:

I don't even know where to find those stats/graphs

jaytirbhaw 03-08-2017 09:42 PM

Made it to the top 5....yes.

lol touche. You have to get SUPER bored, and then scrape (in my case) 46 pages of likes in your profile and parse the data out of it. Made the graph in excel.

It didn't end up taking that long... but I had to set a macro to do that part. I'm not bored enough to do that manually!

Not a clue how to do that, and only use iPad anyways so probably isn't even doable if I wanted to.

In arts and crafts class today I went to town with a 2" x 50' roll of titanium heat wrap in my charge pipe to try and keep heat soak down. Unfortunately it was about 5' too short. Pulled it apart three times to try and make it work but it actually got shorter the more it was stretched. Go figure

I don't think this is the type of wrap you'd want to do on your chargepipes. That titanium heat wrap is great for the hotside ( keeps heat in) but for your charge pipe you'd actually want that air to escape, doing this might keep your IAT up higher than you'd like cus the hot air would be "trapped".

What you need is some of this - https://www.designengineering.com//c...r/reflect-gold

That should help with heat soak on your chargepipes since it'll "reflect" the heat away vs trapping any heat in

Zbrah 03-09-2017 08:02 AM

Just experimenting.

Unless it allows heat to escape while reflecting the outside heat back, that other stuff would do essentially the same thing you're describing. My thinking is that it's better off keeping the cooler air the charge pipe is bringing in than allowing the charger pipe to become heat soaked by the much hotter air under the hood, which would heat up the air coming in even more.

The other thought is by not running any sort of wrap on it would the aluminum charge pipe dissipate some heat as the air travels through it, keeping AIT's lower than any intervention. I don't know the answer which is why I'm playing around wit it. Only a couple of zip ties to undo and find the answer.

Plus the Ti heat wrap looks boss. The reflective stickers look like a blind guy wrapped a candy cane :) and something you'd find on a 10 year old subie with a fart can.

There's also ceramic urethane coatings and such but that's not so easy to just try.

And it keeps me occupied enough I don't get tempted to start charting likes :ugh2:

FWIW, insulation works equally well in any direction (although you can probably find a few exceptions). Insulation on the intake ducts is to keep heat out - any heat that makes it inside has to be sucked into the engine. Keep the heat out and you don't get as much hot air. If you do manage to heat soak the insulated ductwork, it doesn't have a lot of thermal mass and will cool off quickly.

I think the reason the insulation tape got "shorter" when stretched is the width was reduced. The length was actually longer but the extra wraps (width was less so more wraps were needed) more than made up for it.

I wonder what the temps are like coming out of the SC - after you got everything up and running just the way you like you can probably put a temp sensor in the engine compartment and compare against the AITs shown by OBD2... see if its worth insulating or not.

You've got to be on your way to setting an unbreakable record.

I have already started handing out more likes as a result of this thread.

Jayhovah 03-09-2017 09:20 AM

Interestingly, this thread has gotten me 8 likes already - but none of them have been from ChaseZ. I think I've deterred him lol.

Not surprisingly, of those 8 - 3 are from JAR.

I've got a MAP sensor tapped into the manifold between the TBs on the Stillen manifold, which is basically right st the end of the charge pipe run. I should be able to compare AIT right from there. Ultimately that's where I'm concerned about it anyhow.

Update!

http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1499490400

Hotrodz and wildglideleon have caught up with ChaseZ in admiration of me.. along with JAR, but we can all see he's kind of a slut and likes quite a few folks on here. ChaseZ's rate of liking me seems to have cooled.. I can only assume jealousy - as evidenced by the next chart.

Also this:

I have grown quite hot for Chuck. That's pretty much the only takeaway here. :nutswinger::supergay::superghey:

Honorable Mention: husam's burst onto the scene here shows how big a fan I am of his GTR turbo/manifold adaptation project. For those of you who haven't seen it, follow it here (because it's awesome!):
