Everyday Driver 370Z review

Anyone see this yet? I stumbled across it last night and hadn't recalled seeing it posted here.

I need speakers on my work computer!

areyouin729 12-05-2009 07:00 PM

this car is a future classic, that is all I have to say

spearfish25 12-05-2009 07:09 PM

Every time I see the car in a review video, I wish I could see mine from the outside more often. Watching it bank around a curve coming head-on at you is a sweet sight.

These guys seemed right on with their review. The only thing I can't corroborate is the 7AT upshift gripe they had.

PapoZalsa 12-05-2009 07:13 PM

I noticed about "feeling the debris on the road", yesterday I was like WTF was that.

Nice find!

theDreamer 12-05-2009 07:14 PM

I can see them unhappy, because they feel it should have that instant gear change automatic, but in reality that is the GT-R.

areyouin729 12-05-2009 07:15 PM

nitpicking at debris on the road is asinine to me, the Z is a $85,000 BMW

On my DSG Audi I was able to get a transmission chip that made the dual clutch even faster and changed the max rpm. I ownder if in time the 7AT might be able to get a transmission chip to spped things up? But I do believe the Z should have put the DSG on the 2010 model.

Nice find! I agree on most of the review, can't comment on the automatic though.

370z vs 350z vs 300zx by them as well

worth watching as well

AK370Z 12-06-2009 02:15 AM

Very nice review. I agree with them 100% on the handling. The car handles so beautifully, it's near dam addicting! ALL aluminum suspension parts with perfect balance and engineering, I constantly find myself downshifting and accelerating though any twisties I find in my everyday driving.

Great find

I can - although it doesn't happen all the time.

What I've found is that you really need to turn OFF the VDC. That pushed my car into another category of performance - and it's like finding another 20-30HP. Even on hard straight take-offs, where there was no way I was going to lose traction, the VDC throttles back the car - and it shouldn't! Turn VDC off and do the same thing, and voila - the performance I was expecting.

Now, unless it's raining, I automatically turn off VDC. I sure wish there was a way to make VDC off be the default mode when you start the car!

onekneedown 12-13-2009 05:19 AM

Nice review. Thanks for posting.

ricky bobby 12-13-2009 05:45 AM

nice review, just reminds me of how much i hate these winters:shakes head:

j.arnaldo 12-13-2009 10:46 AM

Best bang for the buck! Period. Por$che? Nope! Give me my Z!

kenchan 12-13-2009 12:06 PM

In my snow belt state it's just sad watching sports cars trying to make their way through the snow running ugly skinny snow tires and still slipping around all covered in salt.

Get a winter beater.

Most of the accidents reported in this forum has happened when the VDC has been turned off. :stirthepot:

^^^ but only the 2004.5 Z for you right? Cuz as far as you know it is the only Z that was made purfect

goalie35 06-05-2012 03:10 PM

Absolute truth... I have tried several times to pass and with VDC on it goes all ZOOM on noise then takes off. W VDC off it just goes..

The reason it is there is so folks do not get into trouble on wet days. I live in North Central Texas... Not so many wet days..

I just got my 370 used. The dealer has it as a "Certified" used car and did an oil change.. Great EXCEPT they used reg oil not synthetic..... after running a long trip at higher speeds i got the dieseling sound... checked and found a response that the oil viscosity break down caused the tensioner to slip... Well dont know about that but replaced the oil with synthetic and noise went away... So low octane from the quick gas may have an effect but it only stopped for me with the changing of the oil.. as i used the same on the road gas 93/94 for my last trip and NO NOISE... Love this car.....

The ticking is taken care of by a good synthetic or esther oil.

Daily Driver Here

bought my 2012 370z as my daily driver. Put about 120 Miles per day on the ride. Bought it to drive it cause I hate trailer queens....so far, really like how the car handles, the performance, and the quality that I paid for. Much better than my Pontiac.... Just trying to figure out what to do for the Winter Months.....All season on some cheap rims?

Snow tires for the win. There are video's of 370's with them and making their way through snow just fine. Do not waste your time, or your cars survival and your safety with all seasons. Get actual snow tires or dont drive it. Hit Tire Rack and others for options. Especially since its a daily driver.

danegrey 06-06-2012 01:55 PM

sums up why I got the my 370z

RandyD 06-06-2012 02:09 PM

I had an $80,000 BMW M3 and my new 370Z nismo tech is every bit as nice (handling, performance, build quality) as my Bimmer in fact I will say it, I love my Z more than my BMW.

Nithmo 12-27-2016 02:12 PM

Holy dead thread revival, batman.

Buuuut since we're on the topic, what are the details of the BMW you had (year, trim, mods, etc), and which 370z you are comparing it to (year, trim, mods, etc).

Magic Bus 12-27-2016 06:35 PM

wildolympic, Impressive for knowing how to use "search" on this forum and on the 16 nismo tech!

Uh, I love my Z but if someone offered me a GT2 for my Z I'd trade in a heartbeat. What can I say? I'm an unbiased car guy.

With uprev or ecutek, they eliminate the lag between shifts.

I traded in a silver 2008 BMW M3 convertible, 6 speed no mods, I believe it was the last year for the V8, for a new 2016 370Z nismo tech in magnetic black with a A/T (wife's daily driver) the Bimmer only had 60K miles on it and I was feeding it a $1,000 every other month, I think the thing about the BMW that killed me the most (besides the $) was the lack of an oil dipstick! funny story about that BMW I went back to the car dealer the next day to give them the extra key and the maintenance records and they asked me if the car only liked me because it wouldn't start and every light was on, I couldn't have planned it any better. P.S. Sorry I haven't introduced myself to the forum I will go to the introduction section and fill in the blanks.

Someone who knows how to internet! Welcome to the forum :)

You're on topic and didn't start a new thread. You couldn't have done it any more right

That being said, my buddy's nearly stock 1998 M3 is much more refined than my 2011 Z. Shifts are still butter even with 110K miles on the car, and handling is on par with the Z though different. I prefer the raw nature of the Z and my interior is in much better shape being 13 years newer, but that M3 definitely gives an enjoyable driving experience.
