Default weird yellowish stuff under the hood

Hey guys, might be a stupid question, but ever since I got my car there has been this weird yellowy stuff around battery and brake fluids on metal parts. It peels off but didn't want to go any further without asking here if it's some anti rust ****. Any idea wtf is this and should i remove it and have a beautiful engine bay?
