Why aren't 370's in commercials?

I've only had my z for a few months, one of the things that seems odd to me is that the 370 is never shown (at least from what I've seen) in Nissans TV ads, even when their complete lineup is highlighted..just seems strange to me.

6spd 01-17-2017 12:57 PM

Literally no one gives a sh*t about the Z except us, like Nissan for example...

birdman71 01-17-2017 01:06 PM

We are too cool....

BBQdDude 01-17-2017 01:25 PM

The GTR is their flagship. Don't get me wrong I love my Z for sure.

Absolutely, but same applies for GTR..I don't believe I've ever seen a US commercial for this car either. Unless a car fan, not many know this car even exists..everybody knows a Corvette. Oh well, their loss..

it's not a money maker for the company thus they put the least budget to promote it.

Farking hilarious, i literally snarfed my coffee.

theDreamer 01-17-2017 01:35 PM

They did a great one...clear message is that the moment anything happens just pulled some fenders and you get a new car.

Probably because the Z is not for everyone (less practical) and most of their sales come from Altimas, Maximas, and Crossovers, SUV's therefore they will spend money marketing the vehicles that they can get more sales. (I could be wrong about this, just what comes to mind)

I don't know of too many car companies that have their sports cars in commercials other than a few. I don't think I've never seen an EVO, S2000, Ford ST, and similar cars in commercials, but I did see a 370z on a recent commercial that is not related to car sales but a movie. Sleeples trailer you can see for a second a 370z, so that's the best we'll get for now.

sp911 01-17-2017 02:20 PM

probably the same reason their commercials show all their cars in red (which I really wanted) but was impossible to find: poor marketing.

UNKNOWN_370 01-17-2017 04:21 PM

Nissan DOES NOT advertise for the Z. They feel it speaks for itself. The closest they got to advertising the Z was a Nissan maxima commercial where the premise was the guys wife had a baby so he bought a family car that will not make you miss your sports car.

Xhilr8n! 01-17-2017 04:43 PM

I'm thinking they are pushing for the "really practical reliable plain vanilla" market. First cars, young families, old folks getting their last car.

Sports cars have the perception of everything except that.

EZT 01-17-2017 04:54 PM

They don't need to advertise it. People actual seek them.

Several things are to blame IMO. Z cars have a following so there is no need to advertise. The platform is great, but it is OLD. Also those of us in the market for a small two seat car is a very slim segment. Everyone wants a huge lumbering beast with a big screen in the dash and the WiFi.

Maxima's are in very very few...only when they do the lineup for incentives and it's not in all of them. Altimas, Rogues and Sentras are their bread and butter, Z's, Maximas, Pathfinders etc sell in much much less volume than those. Without those 3 Nissan would have gone belly up or be in serious financial prob's!:icon14:

Jhill 01-18-2017 02:23 AM

Not sure about the z exactly but I imagine sales market is the number one reason (not a huge market for 2 door, 2 seat coupe). As to the poster comment on GT-R not having commercials it was actually done that way on purpose. There is a GT-R documentary and the project lead specifically stated that if they need to make a commercial for it to get recognition then it is a failure.

axmea? 01-18-2017 08:17 AM

In addition to the previous post, who in their bright mind would advertise an increadibly impractical 8-yr old idea (it's actually 9 maybe 10)?

Duc_Z09 01-18-2017 08:50 AM

As has been stated there's no need to advertise performance cars because people who want them will seek them out. When's the last time you saw an ad for a 911?

Oh, and Nissan doesn't give a $h*t about us. There's that too.:roflpuke2:

Raeshlavik 01-18-2017 08:59 AM

Sportscars in general are going the way of the dodo; the market has spoken, and it has 2.5 kids and a dog and wants 4-doors, 4 wheel drive, and 40mpg.

That and petrol-heads don't really need to be marketed to. We tend to be highly informed, super passionate about our preferred brand (actually, religious is a better term), and few of us have a TV in the garage anyway. :)

alanforn 01-18-2017 09:53 AM

Guess its better off this way. I know around my area (Maryland) I do a double take every time I see a newer Z since its so infrequent, then it seems 75% of those are 350's. Camaro's, Mustangs, 911's, Vettes out the behind, I do like to be in a minority, for instance I'm sure the above are all great cars but wouldn't buy a new Camaro or Mustang simply because there are so many running around.

The Nissan 370Z Is a Classic-Car Bargain Masquerading as a Current Production Model

Here is an interesting take.... mentioned here it's in a unique segment. It will be discontinued one day and people will be like **** this is a car with very unique aspects. NA6 banger with 2 seats and having a drive full of character

This article has a lot of truth in it... we are so hot for a new Z but if it comes out auto-only with electric steering and hybrid power the enthusiast modder crowd will shed a small tear.

ZoomZ 01-19-2017 05:20 PM

The don't even make a Brochure for 2017 370Z. Have to download and print. $50K car in Canada, and can't get a $1, professional brochure.

Oh well, can't drive the Brochure. LOL

I got my 2017 brochure when I came to the dealer but to be honest when you know you're getting it you don't really care that much anymore.

Same. They were sure to give me the brochure when I was there for the first test drive. The 370Z brochure is only like 8 pages though, and really nothing but photos.

The GT-R book was also handed to me and it's a lot more detail oriented, and they definitely pushed the GT-R over the 370 all the way until I signed for the Z.

$112k is simply too much for a car though.

shirokenkami 01-20-2017 01:17 PM

The chassis is damn near 10 years old, why would they?

A favor to ask of you. Would it be too far or too much trouble if you could go to that dealer and procure me a copy. I would really love that.

It's a keepsake thing for me. Nothing more. I just like to see them 10-20 years from now.

Let me know. I will pay for shipping.

Pity I didn't get this last night as I was there picking up the car from the dealership's body shop... They were replacing the back bumper on a we-owe; some lugnut dinged it up before I got a chance to save the car from future test-drives. :)

I'll see what I can do!

Ah, Murphy's law. I appreciate if you can even just call them and ask. Maybe they can drop ship directly to me!

Or better yet, provide me the dealership name or number or e-mail and I'll ask myself. Then I can get back to you if they say we need to pick up and deal with it ourselves.

Any help will e appreciated.

Denver Nissan Dealer | Larry H. Miller Nissan Highlands Ranch if you want to just drop them a note. I'll be back down there next weekend as well, and will pick up a 370Z book from the kiosk there when I drop off the car.

I'd think most Nissan dealerships that carry the 'zed' will have the sales book somewhere in the showroom. Might be worth a long-lunch to check any close to you.

I went to several local dealers and most said they don't have any. However, the last dealership told me, they never made one for the 370 for 2017.

So, I may not be getting the whole story, but after 5 dealerships and no luck, I'd say they didn't make one.

Don't forget I'm in Canada where parts are rare, prices are high, taxes are stupid, and we never get near as much as our Brothers to the south. :shakes head:

If you are going there next weekend, I can wait. Again, I really appreciate your help.

IS this an official new commercial?

https://www.facebook.com/donutmedia/...3329370495878/

"Innovation that excites"

Shows an alitima/maxima doing donuts....which it can't really do.....when they sell a gorgeous, exciting, reasonably quick sports car and a gorgeous super exciting, fast as a portion of sport bikes, super car.

Yup that makes sense.
