After 3 Months of ownership, RIP Z
12/10/16
Day started with a plan on doing my first coilover install with a buddy and my pops. We started at 10am. After a couple of breaks and needing to buy bolts and nuts, 6 hours later we were finished with adjusting and wanted to take the Z out for a ride to see how the new suspension felt. At 4:25Pm the accident occurred. Not even 2-3 minutes after the install. I was stopped at a redlight with my buddy to turn left (yes it is a protected left turn). The turn left signal turn green and this old lady went and proceeded to run the red light, which in turn hit my car at about 20MPH. I didn't even get to take a picture of how my car looked with the coils installed... I'm still in shock. This is my first accident, And being 19Y/O This was my first car purchase ever. I had a passenger and we are both banged up, passenger Side airbags were deployed. back pain for both of us, Passenger Arm is numb and has a little blood from the airbag being deployed. Hopefully it doesn't take to long to get updates to see if the car is repairable or not. From the picture I will post below, Looks like the Axle is broken, Rear bumper is trashed, Fender is trashed, Rim is done, Tire is done, Air bags will need to be replaced. If any of you fellow forums members have been in a situation like this, Would you consider my car a Total loss? or Salvageable? Thanks, Drive safe out there. But here is a picture of how the damage looked. http://www.the370z.com/members/marvi...-10-4-25pm.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/marvi...-10-4-25pm.jpg |
Holey crap. Glad you are OK.

Didn't see her coming? At 20 mph you could watch it happen in slow motion.
As in crossing the street, look both ways before crossing. Defensive driving 101 Sorry for your loss |

Damn. Bummer. Glad it wasn't worse than it was. Good luck getting everything sorted out.

First off good to hear you or passenger weren't hurt. :tiphat:
The Z is repairable from what I can see, But you need to first see what the insurance adjuster claims finds before claiming it a total loss. :ugh2: Good Luck! |
dat really sucks.

Ouch :( I definitely feel your pain bud. Got rear ended by a guy going around 30-40 and shock is an understatement especially for being in accident for the first time. From what I understand, when more than one airbag is deployed the car is deemed a total loss by the insurance. I'm guessing they'll give you a rental until they give you a paycheck for it or buy you a replacement. I would definitely ask/mention it to them that the coilovers are aftermarket and may let you put the stock ones back on as aftermarket parts are not included in the insurance coverage unless you specify it when purchasing insurance. Best of luck to you bro!

Totally sucks...Glad you both are ok!

Glad you and your passenger weren't injured, but sorry about your Z. Keep your chin up. |
Cars can be replaced, good thing you and passenger are not too banged up.
Given you have a 2010, deployed airbag, extensive damage, your car is totaled. How much payout you are able to negotiate depends on your skills. Might want to hire a lawyer for future medical settlements too |
Glad you and the passenger are in good shape..
Not how it works, but try to save all the aftermarket as you can if possible. Like the rims, looks from the picture, front rim are good. So means you only have to buy the rear. |

Here in Cedar Rapids, when the light goes green, I look both ways not to see if anyone is running the red light, but to see how many. Glad you are OK. The Z can be fixed or replaced. You and your friend can't be.
