Anyone else depressed about putting their Z away for the winter?

I'm gonna go from hour long cruises every day to public transportation :(

kenchan 11-13-2016 10:35 PM

not really. i have other cars that are fun to drive.

Spooler 11-13-2016 10:52 PM

Noop, because I drive it all year long. I don't know how you guys do it up North.

Ewrjontan 11-14-2016 03:21 AM

I am, but only because I would rather tuck my e36 M3 away and get it prepped for track duties over the winter. I can't do that because I don't have winter tires for the Z so it'll have to hibernate at least this year.

POS VETT 11-14-2016 06:16 AM

Depressed? Not quite. The Z is my wife's daily driver/winter beater. It won't look "right" with slightly oversized winter tires, but it will keep on trucking this winter.

sp911 11-14-2016 06:32 AM

i am "up north" and drive it year round, and without snow tires to boot. last year got stuck 3x in snow, hopefully a mild winter this year.

scottIN 11-14-2016 06:38 AM

It's about time for me. Taking my Ridgeline in tomorrow to get a few things fixed & ready for the winter. But I've got brand new tires on the Z, so may drive it through a few lights snows. Last year, I put it up in October.
And I'll miss driving it, but having an all wheel drive truck takes away any anxiety of driving in the winter so to me, it's worth the trade off.

JARblue 11-14-2016 08:06 AM

I would be if I had to put it away for the winter. No need in Texas though :) :driving:

madeinjapan 11-14-2016 08:17 AM

HEK 11-14-2016 08:51 AM

:iagree: with JARblue on this, we are pretty lucky here in Austin TX.

Nithmo 11-14-2016 10:12 AM

parked mine two weeks ago. It's not that I can't drive it all winter.. but why would I want to?

Rock chips, salt, stupid drivers... meh... no thanks!

eyeteeguy 11-14-2016 10:40 AM

I would be depressed, but like the folks in TX, no snow in FL. But I would have withdrawals for sure if I had to put it away for any length of time...

DeliriousClam 11-14-2016 11:52 AM

Only time I don't drive it here in NJ is when it can't clear the snow. Otherwise it's out and going

bendchef 11-14-2016 11:53 AM

We get a few pristine ice cold Clear Blue Sky days up here in the Portland Vancouver area. I'll take the Z out on those days after warming it up in the garage for about an hour. Oil cooler doesn't like warming up in that cold weather. But once we're out I'm able to drive her pretty hard and she swallows that ice cold air. We have some awesome winding back roads that lead to some really long straight away is out in farm country. I don't like to drive like an *** in town or on the freeway for too long a period of time. But in the countryside..... Then it's back to the garage for storage until next time.

Winter? What kind of car part is that? I've never heard of winter mod in LA.

AestheticCM1 11-14-2016 01:50 PM

Not really, each year I find it liberating to know that I won't be putting any miles on my Z until next summer.

barncobob 11-14-2016 02:10 PM

drive 24/7/365 here,, gets cold but rarely snow in N. Ca. :driving:

That would make me depressed...

Put mine away 2 weeks ago, but I get to see her everyday in the back of the garage.

mishuko 11-14-2016 04:43 PM

Hard parking before dec 1.... :(

JC-Nismo 11-14-2016 04:58 PM

Born and raised in Jersey and one of the reasons I'll never go back!!! Georgia baby, no winters here, drive them all year round.......... Even though it's only once a week, Lol.

In DFW, putting away your car lasts like what? 4 to 6 weeks before your summer tires work again? Lol

dP3NGU1N 11-14-2016 06:20 PM

Burn tires all year in socal. =)

Yep no vdc, bald tires, 420 yolo blaze it.

Nithmo 11-14-2016 11:11 PM

Winter storage is just a nice way to keep the miles down for half the year... Which then encourages me to drive twice as much in the other half :D

Cyber370 11-15-2016 05:06 AM

Not really depressed. Sad yes. However, it gives me something to look forward to in the spring when I take the cover off and pull it out of the garage for the first time. It's like taking delivery of a new car again.

I haven't stored it away just yet since we've been having a mild fall. But, I may be giving it a final wash and wax this weekend in preparation for winter hibernation. We'll see.

madeinjapan 11-15-2016 07:01 AM

32 degrees today

drove it to work

night blade 11-15-2016 07:05 AM

Putting mine away this Sunday, still have this week with some mild weather to enjoy the ride, next Monday though the freeze comes :(.

kenchan 11-15-2016 07:24 AM

make sure u guys ask ur insurance agent to 'suspend' ur insurance to save money. basically comprehensive coverage only.
den reinstate come spring. mine's like $16 for the 6months :rofl2:

z_nation 11-15-2016 10:17 AM

Supposed to snow sunday up here in Barrie! :(

ayrton88 11-15-2016 04:45 PM

Mine doesn't get fully put away for winter. On warmer days with clean roads I'll take her for a drive. She is actually getting a reprieve this year. The weather has been great. However, soon she will spend most of the time in a heated garage with a battery maintainer. What I miss most is rowing my own gears since my winter car is an automatic.

shirokenkami 11-16-2016 09:36 AM

Nope, I'm about that daily life.

Sonny10MM 11-16-2016 01:24 PM

Not a Z, but yes I'm getting ready to put my SLK320 up soon after the first snow before they salt the roads. Yes it depresses me, but Baby sees no salt!

Mandingo 11-16-2016 01:53 PM

I'm about to take mine OUT of storage :icon17: I've been out of the country for 5 months and I'm real excited to get back behind the wheel

Raidernation 11-16-2016 02:17 PM

Cold weather and rain are not something I am use to. No winter storage for this Z owner.

tanamerra 11-16-2016 04:46 PM

Still drive in the winter, not as much and never when salt, slush or snow is on the road.

crazy4oldcars 11-16-2016 08:37 PM

Another Texas vote. We had 2 freezes in the same year here a couple of years ago. People like to of lost their minds. If it gets that bad, I'll switch off to the wife's 2500 HD for a couple of days.

Fresh set of G-Max all seasons and mine is ready to do winter battle in NH. I learned to winter drive in a 1965 Dodge Coronet 440, no prob.
