Optima from Amazon So easy to get replacements. Why not take the battery to the dealer to warranty out?

the reviews on Amazon said poor packaging and half the people sent the battery back.
 I did not buy it at the dealer the previous owner did. Does it matter? I might could find the info on the maintenance record the previous owner gave me.. Optima is like $225 almost twice the cost. I will research.THANKS
