Why do I want to sell my car?

Well I'm asking this question to myself over and over this week,
I went to a Chevy dealer yesterday to check out a 08 corvette and as soon as i arrived about 5 salesmen and a few customers were drooling around my car and asking me questions, I didnt get the corvette even though they offered me a good trade in value for my car.

I really dont know why i want a faster car, i dont even race this one!! LOL

I guess i want to own a piece of American History with the Corvette

END of RANT!!

frost 11-28-2009 02:04 PM

I've gone on like, 20 rants about how my 06 vette was inferior to the Z in everything except speed, so I'll skip it; but that's a lot of money to lose just to "own a piece of american history." Unless you make serious money, this is a bad decision.

Seriously don't bother if you like driving and cars in general. I just got rid of my '08 vette (470HP) for the Z. Much happier now.

My buddy just broomed his '06 Vette for a 370 to go along with the 350 he already has. Neither of us are expressing any remorse..

The vettes were just something we needed to try.

NYBladeZ 11-28-2009 03:18 PM

for arguements sake, how much did they offer on the trade in?

sebaztianl 11-28-2009 03:55 PM

They offered $26600 on a $33k vette
not bad

Brazilbro 11-28-2009 04:00 PM

including taxes you just lost 10k in less then a yr with this trade

sebaztianl 11-28-2009 04:08 PM

No sir, I did not, :)

I bought it from a private with only 600 miles , killer deal!

But I didn't get the vette though

kenchan 11-28-2009 05:20 PM

I thought he was needing to buy his future wife an engagement ring and was deciding to keep the car or the girl...

what!! Lol

ho6950 11-28-2009 06:37 PM

If you have to decide between a ring or a car...always choose the car lol

ho6950 11-28-2009 06:39 PM

To the OP, you can always modify the car if you really need that extra BOOST(TT)...you'll be completely satisfied with that, IMO

m4a1mustang 11-28-2009 06:44 PM

I want more power, too. I love the car but every now and then I wish I had a 'Vette!

I think about this also, then I just Google an image of the current Vette and it reminds me why I came here. Also, many people I talk to who have owned Vettes and drive them (not just baby them), say they are great weekend cars or track cars, but to daily drive a Z06 can get "rough."
Now I am young and sort of blew the rough comment off, but the more I think about it, I do like having an enjoyable daily drive with the Z but also being able to push it and know it can handle somethings. Not saying the Z06 is bad, since I have not tested one personally.

I still love the look. I think the interior is a big let down but the rest of the car is great.

I have driven the Z06 and, IMO, it's roughness is about the same as the Z. It didn't really stand out as a harsh riding car.

Most of the complaints are probably from the older guys with bad backs who have enough trouble as it is getting in and out of anything lower than an SUV. :driving:

motoextreme 11-28-2009 06:54 PM

First and foremost, too each their own!

BUT... I can honestly say I've owned every car you could want. An M3, M6, SL550, Rovers, F360 Spider, 996 Turbo and yes a Z06 (not to mention about 10 others or so)

Out of all my cars I can only tell you two I really couldnt stand, the M6 as it felt HUGE and not fun and yes the Vette. It felt really big, front was just too long and its hard to get comfortable on tight roads as you just can't see much of the car when driving. The Turbo was one of my favorite cars but I lost my *** when I sold it and the Ferrari is too rich for me. I sold all my street bikes to get it only to find that the maintenance is absolutely disgusting....still paying for that damn car and its been nearly a year.

Why the Z...parts are somewhat reasonable and I dont feel bad pulling it apart. Vette's are cool yes but my neighbors Zr1 has 650+ HP and I can tell you right now it doesnt handle as good as my Z. Get another Z and make it your own!!!!

My 2 cents

PS. I lost 18K on that damn vette and barely drove it.

Yep, forgot to add that part of my post, the exterior I have always liked but the interior needs a good upgrade. Good to hear about the roughness, I would love to get a Vette as my weekend toy car & have a Z for DD and general fun. Take the Vette and do what GM has failed to do to it, but one car at a time. ;)

StLRedrider 11-28-2009 07:17 PM

DON'T DO IT, CHEVY'S ARE CRAP,i don't know. my 2 cents Good luck with your choice!!!

motoextreme 11-28-2009 07:25 PM

That's HARSH...HAHAHA. He is kind of right though, I bought this damn SS Trailblazer thing a couple years ago, Holly crap it sucked, rattled like a rattlesnake.. They took it back on a lemon law issue because of all the issues.

After writing all this, I realize I need help! Need to stop buying cars, no wonder I'm so damn broke.

I like the other post, buy both :)

StLRedrider 11-28-2009 07:35 PM

i'm sorry. i guess i'm stating that opinion out of the experience with my friends and their vehicles. always breaking down and the interior was always cheaper if you will compared to other makes.

Um, ya......PM sent.

sebaztianl 11-28-2009 08:24 PM

Well i do have a few offers, finally at a price that i can let it go, if one of those buyers comes thru then it will be sold, if not i'll keep it. You never know what you have until you start searching for another car and founds that for the price there is nothing comparable

cab83_750 11-28-2009 08:34 PM

When I was 12 I fell in love with the stingray. I will always want the Vette and perhaps will buy one someday.

Funny thing is that everytime I see one, the front page of MT or R&T flashes in my mine. It says......

Corvette.... It still shakes, rattles but rolls!

Mike 11-28-2009 08:37 PM

I don't know, I have a C6 and a Z and I love them both. The C6 is the garage queen with custom show paint, and the Z is the weekend track whore, outdoor car that never gets washed, and beater to drive to the airport.

sebaztianl 11-28-2009 09:01 PM

wao!!!! nice cars!

imag 11-28-2009 09:02 PM

I fell in love with a 'vette when I was a kid too. I knew all the history, pointed them out wherever we went...

...and then I finally got one. It had its upsides, but driving a piece of crap just got old. It was like they say about boats, "The happiest two days of ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it." Almost every time I drove it, there was something new that was broken or rattling or rebroken (something I had already fixed once). I was so glad to see it go, it was like a weight lifted off my shoulders.

When I was shopping for this car (the Z), I looked at *everything* - every used and new car from 1970 to now that was even close to what I wanted. But the one car I didn't even look at, even though it was right in the sweet spot of price and performance, was the 'vette. I just don't want one any more. I just don't want to watch a car fall to pieces in front of me again.

I needed to get it out of my system though. Maybe you do too...

RCZ 11-28-2009 09:35 PM

sometimes I think about selling the Z and buying a Cayenne and a Racing Shifter Kart....

sebaztianl 11-29-2009 08:38 AM

I'm also looking for a NSX... always loved that car

Than God for that steering wheel, I can hang on while I lower myself into the seat. :bowrofl:

+1 for you. I resemble that remark!

You forgot to mention the "grunting" sound getting out of the car...

That's really the way to go for racing. Did you see the AutoBlog series on shifter cart racing? Pretty informative.

I've thought of selling the Z for a Viper GTS or a Lotus Exige S240 (the latter is my current next-car favorite)...

vash_241987 11-29-2009 12:28 PM

anyone into the MK IV supras? saw one on friday, and couldn't stop looking...of course I eventually had to since I was heading the opposite direction :happydance:.....the thing that gets me though is that.....its hard to find a perfectly stock one that is not $70k..... TT is obviously a big want, but the N/A wouldn't be too bad. Have only seen 4 here...lol more than the 370z

speaking of TT...anyone got $16,500 I could borrow :D

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e&rdpage=thumb

lol was looking at them and though this was a N/A.....then I realized that the N/A exhaust manifold goes over the engine....

Before the Z came out, I was at full speed trying to buy an NSX. Most of them are in NorCal.

I made an offer to the first one; he accepted; and, I arranged for a PPI. At the last minute the owner changed his mind.

I moved on and pursued a 2nd one. Same story...owner changed his mind. 3rd one, same thing. I was p!ssdd.

I gave up. I still have the itch and maybe in a few years I'll scratch. :)

Well NSX's owners are very proud of their cars and often have seller's remorse and dont sell them at all

sebaztianl 11-29-2009 05:54 PM

I just washed my car, removed and cleaned each wheel inside and out!

I think i will keep the car after all, LOL

Yep! I agree. We'll see their proudness untill the next V8 or V10 NSX comes out. :)

If you sell your car to car dealer then you will get less money if you sell it by own then it is possible to get higher price for your car. Selling a car by yourself it is always better option and you can do it easily using some good websites for selling cars.
