I did a test drive last week and this car is fast. Is it worth 2 1/4 times the 370Z? Maybe!
One of the things I noticed between the two cars is how much more I felt connected to the Z. (Jinba ittai) There is a new, less than 30 miles, black, GT-R for sale in a Connecticut Nissan dealership for 75K if anyone is interested. Jinba ittai - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |
The car isn't even THAT expensive. Don't get me wrong, I can't afford it.. but not letting people sit in it, give me a break!
I can understand the no test drive unless you are serious deal, but let's be honest.. it's not a ferrari. |

If you were the purchaser of the GTR that had been test drove, wouldn't you have serious concerns about how the miles (that had accumulated on the car) had been driven? I know that when I test drive a performance car, I try and see just what it's capable of. I did it with the two 370's that I test drove (read: I drove the snot out of them). So, judging by just my experience test driving the car, I sure wouldn't want one that had been agressively driven. (But, I still want to try one. Just try not to buy the one that I test drove :inoutroflpuke: ) |

There are a lot of luxury cars that sell for a lot more than $80k and I'm sure you can test drive those cars. The GT-R at my dealer was taped off with do not touch signs all over it. But now that I'm a customer I bet they would want to sell me up and let me drive it. |
just find a friend with a car costing 80K+ and walk in, grab a sales guy..tell him you want to trade that in for the GT-R but you want to test drive it first. i think it might work..they'll see you're already in the price range of the gt-r
after the test drive..just tell em u didnt like it and out you go. |

That said, I have also noticed that car dealers tend to rope off their high end cars, whatever they are. I remember when the S2000's landed, and the Honda dealers were very anal about a $32k car. No test drives, and so on. It was a bit ridiculous. There's a Porsche/Audi dealer in DF/W that I visited, pretty much just to get a look at an R8. The Audi guys had that mentality. Then I went to the Porsche show room and 20 minutes later I was driving a turbo 997. I doubt they'd let me sit in, much less drive, a Carrera GT. Attitude is relative to the top of the line. There's a huge difference in the attitude of salesmen at high-end lots. It's not very surprising that the Nissan dealers are uptight about the GT-R. They've got a car with a great deal of mystique and it's probably natural that they treat their average customers as the unworthy heathans. |

You do realize the gtr RAPES the z06 on every single track, in addition to the dragstrip too. that is despite the weight advantage the z06 has. You do realize the gtr is faster than supercars 2-3 times its price, and that it has defeated cars like porsche 911 turbo, gt3, gt2, ferrari f430, lamborghini gallardo, murcielago, mercedes sl65 amg, bmw m3, m6, etc.... |
