How much you got in your trunk? (hatch)

Anybody got pictures or stories of what they have fit in their 370z ?

(please no dead ex-girlfriends)

DEpointfive0 04-25-2016 02:34 PM

Not gf, happy?

$300 in groceries just yesterday. Eggs, litter and cereal went in the front. There's a 15lb bag of dog food under all that too.

These three were taken upon arrival home from our 4343-mile, 15-day road trip last fall. We changed clothes every day and didn't do laundry along the way. There were a few noticeable "secrets" to our success:

1) Pack in multiple smaller, flexible (we used nylon) laundry bags rather than a few pieces of standard luggage with stiff sides.

2) Train my wife that the cargo could not extend above the roofline of the hatch. This was much more difficult than it should have been. YMMV.

3) Try to manage to leave at least a small area on top to be able to use the rear-view mirror.

4) Put white or light-colored objects on the bottom or well to the side to minimize reflections in the rear-view mirror.

We did manage to jam in everything we needed without encroaching upon our space up front.

All in all, it was a delightful road trip!

brancky3 04-25-2016 07:22 PM

Grocery jokes aside, last summer I fit my inflatable 2-person kayak and paddles in the hatch.

somms 04-25-2016 08:15 PM

I can fit my road bike completely in the hatch. I can also fit my skis and my surf board in the car, but they both extend into the front.

DeliriousClam 04-25-2016 08:22 PM

zenclosure sub box and my district manager (yes there's a story behind this)

Years ago I ended up getting a camaro for a rental while on assignment. It wasn't by choice. We discovered the SUV had an airbag issue and my colleague refused to ride in it any more than necessary. Avis offered me any car on the lot for the inconvenience the following day.

Suffice to say, we had to stagger our returns because only one suitcase (full size) would fit in the trunk at a time!

mishuko 04-25-2016 09:24 PM

2 duffle bags, a backpack, a bucket, a kit with oil/tire pump/qd, 12 pack of water, 6 pack of bear in said bucket and still had room. in fact I could of fit 3 more 12 packs.

I've done a few short and 1 longer road trip and never had storage issues. will test it out in less than a month with my zdayz + nyc shopping road trip

Z-Girl 12 04-25-2016 09:31 PM

Spooler 04-25-2016 09:36 PM

Couple of Mustang drivers and 3 Honda Civic drivers. Fit like a champ.

kynseon 04-26-2016 10:33 AM

I have fit medium size luggage, 2 small backpacks, 2 gallons of water, and a bunch of other small stuff. You can actually stuff a lot of stuff behind the passenger side.

I wish I could fit four wheels in my car. Two at a time is the best I can do. Soooo many trips to the storage unit during snow wheel swap season.
