As for the OP's question: you can order Nissan Genuine ester oil (5qts) and a filter or Red Line (5qts) and filter from z1motorsports.com for $60 each.

You're right. They recommend Nissan ester oil or equivalent. Such as Mobil 1.

U need to do ur homework on oil, Mobil 1 is not an ester based oil, it is group ..3, not 5, big difference

Castrol 0W-30 with Mobil 1 or K&N filter. I swear by it.

Most dealership or should I say stealerships don't know what the heck they are doing either. One put 6qts in my 1.6DIG-T when it requires only 4.8qts. The dealerships are only there to make money and most are not very knowledgeable on the brands they are selling.

Question: Do you trust the Owners Manual that came from the Manufacturer, or what some service rep or mechanic that don't give a crap about your car says?

Nissan dealers will offer mobil 1 if you opt out of the more expensive Nissan ester oil... but that does not mean mobil 1 is equivalent to a true group 5 ester. The Nissan ester isn't even a full synthetic ester... its dyno oil with ester additives to help quiet the valve slap in the vvel system. Esters also perform better under higher temperature and shear (prevalent in the vvel system in out cars).

Recently I have just been buying my redline from amazon 12 qt boxes at a time. I have bought from Z1 but their shipping costs end up making it a wash on price and the 2 day delivery with prime just makes it a little more convenient.

Weelllllllll there's always exceptions. That friend who owns the dealerships, also owns a modified TT and had a 370z for a few years as well. Some of them still care. Not everyone puts in only Ester, and the Zs drive on. It'll all be OK. :happydance:

Dealerships have a bulk oil tank that they use in every thing; unless you specify...our local dealers use Kendall & don't even have Nissan oil in stock...

Is everykne paying this much or even more? I miss $40 oil changes on my old 09 VW GLI

That's roughly what we pay for my fleet trucks also since we only use Synthetic. You can always do it yourself?

I take my Z to Dynosty for oil changes and pay around $120.
Its a little bit more expensive, but they put in their in-house oil and check all of my bolts to make sure nothing is lose on the car. Only place I trust to take my Z lol
