I think the Z deserves a second chance.

I'd keep the car. You'd lose your butt on trading/selling it. If you disclose that it has a new engine, the buyer would think all kinds of things...even if you're 100% honest, they might think you blew the engine racing it...and wonder what else is going to fail.

If you don't disclose, well, that's just bad mojo.

Don't worry about disclosure. I once sold a Porsche and received the cash. The guy never came back. After 4 months of looking for him I was told that legally the car is mine again. Well 6 months later the guy reappeared. With no questions asked I wired ALL his $ less $10 wiring fee.

Honest Abe here. Besides whatever goes around comes around. :)

keep the Z

Dump it. In the back of your mind, there'll always be a little voice reminding you that it's not "perfect." You'll be waiting for the other shoe to drop, waiting for something else to go horribly wrong.

At least, that's what happened to me.

What is an RX8? :)

I am the half-full guy and see this as free 8000 miles!!! It may be a keeper until I get another itch

what happened to you? Care to share?

If that's the case, keep it like everyone else is suggesting. I'm a pessimist by nature so the glass is always half-empty.

It started off with TPMS and then the heating/cooling system failing within the first thirty days of ownership. After that, it's just been a bunch of cascading failures with other systems that the dealership can't sort out.

Probably worth noting that I don't drive a 370Z, I drive something else that Nissan makes. I just post here sometimes for some reason.

Edit: Just for fun, here's a picture of my car as of earlier this week at the dealer, again. I'm still stuck in a rental. http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG00082.jpg

It's not something I would think to check, then again, I've never checked to see if the SN's match up on any vehicle I've owned.

If that's the case, then there's no "sale" involved - the dealer has to play ball and swap the vehicle out.

OP needs to check into the Lemon-Laws for his state. I know Oklahoma just changed theirs quite a bit...not that it matters, my Z seems just fine, though I am due to check my oil level.

i would not buy a car w/a replaced engine.

cab83_750 11-20-2009 08:16 PM

Ok. After 3 days I have the car back

The engine looks new and smells new
The engine bay looks like the very 1st day I picked it up.

I will go ahead and keep you guys posted possibly after 1000 miles. Man, I am so happy to see her. After closing the lid and turned on the engine I felt the same way as the day I drove her from the lot

Roo,

thanks fir the feedback. I will make a note of it

That would still bug me about the shifting, though.

Though I'm a foreign car sort of guy, to tell the truth, my RSX doesn't shift like I hoped it would. I ran a Falcon Sprint and a Plymouth Satellite on the strip and could shift gears in split seconds...I never took my foot off the gas, I just stomped the clutch and shoved a gear. But I can't speed-shift this RSX. The syncros don't seem to be fast enough.

If I had a 370Z, I'd wan't to "get it on" once in a while at least and if it didn't shift right, that would bug me like crazy. All I need to do is sell my RSX and get a Z and wind up with the same crap...

Le sigh...
