Default Accidentally shifted from 3rd to 2nd

I accidentally shifted from 3rd to second in high rpm when I wanted to shift into 4th, my tires chirped a little bit and I instantly put it into 4th right after. Whats the probability I completely damaged my second gear? It felt fine after that as I continued to drive. Just a little worried I damaged my transmission.

Hue. I did smell a burnt clutch, but I don't think it was from me, I think it was from the Dodge Challenger.

I'd be more worried that you pulled the "money shift" and over-revved your engine. You'd know that right away though, I would think. Just remember the rev limiter won't save you if you downshift at too high a rev.

Yep. If you did any damage you would have known. The engine would have made a really expensive noise.

You are fine.
No oil pressure light and no weird noises = you are good to go.
The VQ's are strong engines.

That is why it's worth to have the synchro rev. Does your Z equipped with one?

That's not going to help an over rev situation.

I didn't hear any weird noises or anything like that.

For future reference, what would it mean if the oil pressure light did come on, and I did hear a weird noise?

Light = low (or no) oil pressure. Possibly because the oil pump drive sheared.
Weird noise = bearing(s) gone bad. Possibly due to lack of oil. Could be other things.

You probably blew the welds on the intake. Now me and the mad scientist got to rip apart the block and replace the pistons rings you fried.

You are fine. Just take it easy and take the Z for a long drive. Then inspect everything for leaks or weird sounds. These engines are made to take some abuse. Unless you keept it at 8K for several minutes, you are fine.

It was very short timed, a few seconds at that, it just scared me. I just got the car a month ago. The oil pressure sign did come on, but when I went and got gas and turned the car back on, it went off. I'm hoping I didn't damage anything, but it seemed to be driving fine and I didn't notice any weird noises at all, and it shifted fine and accelerated fine. I'm almost certain the burnt clutch smell was from the Dodge Challenger I was racing. <_< I really noticed it when he got the jump on me on the next street over. Anyways I'm probably being paranoid I know people abuse these cars but I don't want to damage it, and take away life because I messed up a shift on accident. It does have Snych rev, as well. As soon as it went into gear and it chirped my tires, I pressed the clutch in immediately, and put it into the correct gear.

Also, before that happened the Challenger couldn't catch me, but then I ****** up and really slowed down, but he got out on me on the second street and I was super worried I damaged something so I just backed off. XD Thanks for all of the advice guys. I really appreciate it.
