If the switch completes the circuit when pressed, it's useless to me. If it breaks the circuit when pressed, i can use it. That's what I was asking about in the first place. So if you don't know, that's fine, but I was just trying to keep it looking kinda stock. |
srm
Looks like this is an old thread, but I have to say I think I prefer SRM off for daily stop and go driving. There's something initally cool about the throttle blip when going from 3rd or neutral to 2nd for a simple turn, but it seems to wear off fast. I feel with SRM off I get a much smoother, linear acceleration and shift from 1st to 2nd.
If I were on the highway I think SRM is great, just not so sure I want it on every day. My comments may be a bit biased considering 80% of the time I am driving an Acura with a manual transmission, perhaps with it off it's just an easier transition between the two. |

Sorry to necro this post, but just a question..
Its a given that the sport pkg (both 6MT and 7AT) has rev match, however, does the base 7AT have rev match as well? |
yes, because its an auto it doesn everything for u anyways

Well, the 7AT doesn't have a feature listed as "SRM", nor does it have a button for it, but it has the same basic electronics and then some. It automatically matches revs as it shifts for you (including correct downshift blips at any speed).
If anything, I would guess they developed the tech for the 7AT first (because it needs it to function correctly) and then someone had the awesome idea to use the same electronics and logic on the 6MT. |

Sorry for the bump but I figured this is the appropriate thread to ask my question in. I have recently bought CPOd Nismo Z. I noticed with S mode on when I upshift from 4th to 5th that it'll rev a bit going into 5th. I THINKS the reason is possibly because I typically have a slow 4th to 5th shift. When I did a fast upshift from 4th to 5th there was no automatic rev. So I assume my slower shift in that situation would make the SRM up rev the engine because it spent a little longer than usual in neutral. Is that right?
However...I didn't notice this in other gear up shifts even when I went slower on purpose. Thoughts? Also, with S mode turned off, there's no up rev going into 5th gear even if I slow shift it |

So I was kind of right. My slow 4th to 5th up shift means the car stays in neutral longer than it should and that causes RPM to drop. So when I do get into 5th the SRM will automatically rev to be in the right RPM for 5th. What's weird is that it doesn't do this in other gear upshifts even if I purposely go slow |
Are you sure it doesn't do it in other gears? Try it at like 60-70 mph in 3rd gear and hang in neutral before shifting to 4th. If you actually shift into the gear or at least hold the shifter at the gate with the clutch in and still in neutral, the engine will continue to rev match as the RPMs drop even as the car slows.

Took q video of my 4th-5th upshift and the SRM blipping the rpm by 500. It's very frustrating and I'm taking the car to the dealer soon to get looked at. My foot was no where near the accelerator when this happened and it was a very clean deliberate upshift into 5th. What the hell is causing it to rev like that? Oh right, it's at 14 seconds in the video

In my eyes, SyncroRev alone made the jump from HR350 to 370 worth it.
