Tiburon vs 370z - Comparison from owners -
Hi All, im new to the forum and i am curious which members have owned a tiburon before moving up to the 370z. Which was the biggest 'upgrade' you noticed and what were other notions of the car that felt different to you. Minus the obvious fwd to rwd. More so in suspension, engine noise, cabin noise, throttle response, build quality, comfort, ect.
EDIT: If this is in the wrong area i apologize, i felt like it belonged in general discussion. |
Lol.... I've driven a tibby. You gonna feel like you bought a Ferrari. Lol
|
Literally every single aspect is going to be a gigantic upgrade of epic proportions. You could go test drive one in less than the time it would take to list the differences.;)
|
I only have a single experience with a Tiburon. I was in the back seat for a 3-minute drive. I'd rather be in the back of a 370z.
|
Oh this is going to be interesting.

Here are 2 pics of my current Tiburon: http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/...1.jpg~original http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/...1.jpg~original As far as it stands, I am actually parting out the performance and will be setting it up as a dedicated track car but n/a. As much as the suspension was modified I would guess its still less then the 370z skidpad and cornering ability. Power wise it is faster in a straight line by a decent margin. But driveability is where it falls off hard, it is hard to drive it almost anywhere unless I'm in racemode lol. I want a nice streetable car, with good power, great handling, nice interior, 2 seater, and has a 'fun' factor. I believe the 370z fills this and then some. Anyways I appreciate the response, I cant wait to drive one this next week. I am literally about to pull the trigger to buy one, I just want to drive one and see if its what I think I would have lots of enjoyment out of. Also it wouldn't stay stock for long, maybe a couple days lol. But I think I would hold back this time and only do the most impactful mods more slowly instead of building an entire car 100 times over. |
My wife had a 2001 Toyota Echo 5 Speed manual when we met. When she first rode in my 240Z and then my 370Z, she thought they were both big improvements.
Does this help? I hope so. |
btw, watz a tiburon?

I put on a boat load on miles on both a '06 Tib and my Z. The Z will feel more stable on the hwy at higher speeds for sure, around town the big difference will be more power with the Z. road noise is much higher with the Z, but I had a LOT of extra sound damping in the Tib. fit and finish was about the same, maybe a little nicer materials in the Z.
The one thing I will note, I had less mechanical trouble with my tib then my Z. If you have any specific questions you can shoot me a pm also. |
I own a Civic Si. How does that compare to a Tibby?
Kernchan: dats a cobalt dummy! Me: But I owned teh cobalt! OnZ: Oh look, a cozy coupe! Kernchan: Made in J-land I see Me: Civic vs Tibby vs Cobalt Vs 370Z vs moostang MB: I onwed a Mustang.... |

I had a 2005 Tiburon SE for almost 6 years prior to the Z.
1. FWD is so much easier and more forgiving in bad weather. Not to say the Z can't deal with bad weather but FWD deals with it better. 2. Also the 2+2 layout means you can technically take 4 people if you had to. 3. A trunk to put stuff out of sight. 4. Regular maintenance and gas was much cheaper in the Tiburon. Cheap gas, cheap oil, cheap tires etc. Insurance wasn't much different. A few things that are the same. Modding and aftermarket parts are expensive when compared to more common sports cars. Tiburon had clutch issues wearing out early (IMO was from driver inexperience) so does the Z the CSC (concentric slave cylinder) on the clutch fails on many cars. One thing I did like coming from the Tiburon was it used a timing belt which was a pain to change, the Z uses a chain which doesn't need service. http://www.the370z.com/members/2011-...5-img-1893.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/2011-...6-img-1899.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/2011-...7-img-1885.jpg |

I had an '07 Tiburon for a few years... It's not a "bad" vehicle. Handling was fine. Road noise was minimal (I had come from a convertible directly before it, so anything was an improvement there).
For the power that it had, gas mileage was mediocre... and I should have expected more out of it. I had the 6-spd manual and installed a short shifter, so throwing it through the gears (despite the FWD) was fun and had a sporty-ish feel to it... but in the end, it's not a sports car. I ended up going back to a 300zx for a few years and then eventually got my 370z. Both were a step up in every possible area from the Tib... except maybe trunk space. Trust me, you won't look back and think it was a bad decision if you move to a 370. Money well spent. |

uh... our mods are not cheap... if you want a car with more easily accessible mods go moostang.
plus breather mods can only take you so far. if you want real gains you need to get FI'd which will set you back like 20k or so. |
Tiburon vs 370z - Comparison from owners...............
