Pulled over for speeding

Got pulled over yesterday for doing 39 in a 35. Cop explained to me I have to be aware that my car will be targeted due to appeance than asked a bunch of questions. Turned out he's got a 300ZX TT and was a die hard Z guy and really just wanted a closer look. Still had me freaking out my insurance was about to skyrocket.

Go to traffic school before you pay the ticket

you will have to pay the fine for the ticket, but a point won't be put onto your record and insurance rates won't go up. At least that is how it works here in CA. I work for State Farm Insurance so this is something I would know about.
And yeah our cars are definitely targeted a lot more because of look and sound. I'm sure the cop was a Z guy but gave you a ticket for speeding because he was jealous he has a 300zx and not a newer 370z haha.

Also did he catch you on a radar gun? very specific speed for a cop to say to someone.

id be surprised if you actually got a ticket..

Doesn't sound like he got hit more of a funny story with a cop and his Z

Wish the cops around here appreciated the vehicle scene...

He gave me a warning. Just wanted to share because I found it interesting when it was all said in done.

i think the a big reason was the attitude you had when he came to you. come off as a **** they will throw the book at you.

there has been numerous numbers of cases for and against cops being jerks here.

in canada 10 or under you can get away with. if it's over 10 they are obligated to pull you over.

cooltoy 01-13-2016 12:50 PM

Isn't it 10% not 10 km? I think there is a 10% error in radar guns and they could get thrown out of court if the ticket is for less then 10% of the speed limit.

Nice.

I had one cop tell me to fight it. He then told me he never goes in to court. He was really apologetic because of the policy they were running at the time. I made him laugh while he was writing the ticket and I guess he just felt bad that I was handling it with class. Not all cops are jerks, and not all speeders are ********. I was doing 41 in a 30 in my Taurus. He didn't show i argued and they dropped it.

Glad your cop was a z fan.

Hey lemme ask you something. I got a 09 Honda Fit right. And I got state farm insurance. I used to pay under 400 every 6 months. And now I'm at 450+ for the same coverage. I argued with them. But she said "because your car is low in numbers out there, the cost to repair it got more expensive, and hence the increase in your rate...." I got no accidents, tickets, etc. and I think this is BS. Is what she said justified?

Thanks, and sorry to digress.

reminds me of a time I got popped about 2 years ago.

I was doing 93 in 55.....

luckily cop was a car guy. talked y ear off about the car and I still had my car number from the drag strip on the windshield so that sparked more conversation.

ended up with a moving violation of sorts. no points and I believe it was $150 fine.

told me to hurry home to make it back in time for the Pens game :driving:

After he let you go, you should've dropped the clutch and do a burnout:rofl2:

being nice and respectful can go only so far. i've have talked to a lot of cops and even still play basketball with some. i had one tell me that on a day that he was forced to work (he had tickets to go to a game, but got called in) he handed out the most tickets he ever did. he stopped everyone for anything he could lol.

while it can pay to be nice, just because you're nice doesn't mean you won't get the full ticket. however, it is better then being an arse and leading it somewhere else.

when stopped i just answer yes or no sir. nothing more nothing less.

well the major highways that post 100 if you're doing 120 it's not an issue aslong as you're not weaving/tailgating too hard.

i can't remember where i heard that but i'm pretty sure it's 10kmh.

30 and 40 are majors

50+ is 'racing' (regardless if you are alone or not) or relabelled as 'stunt driving' and get a 7 day impound,7 days in slammer, 10k fine, 30 day impound, 50000000 demerits, and a wack of but hurt.

oh they also have some other qwerky rules for what they classify stunting. like ripping a left with no advance when a light turns green :shakes head:

Glad you got off a ticket.

An officer pulled me over. I readily took accountability because I knew what I did. Long story short, he pulled me over simply to get a closer look and ask what exhaust I had on. We then started talking about cars and Z's at that point. We exchanged business cards and that's it.

sp911 01-13-2016 02:20 PM

got pulled over for doing 4 miles over the speed limit?! yikes, I do double that before getting to the stop sign at the send of my street. seriously, I'm definitely not a crazy or fast driver but that's crazy. I've gotten a ticket for doing 79 in a 55 (out of state) but only warnings for 39 in a 25 and 69 in a 55. definitely depends on the cop and yes not all are bad. neither of those were in my z by the way.
