Is the SynchroRev Match worth it?

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and looking to purchase a pre-owned 370z. ;)
I've always had a 2nd car, as my fun car with a manual tranny.

Finding a pre-owned 370z, with low miles, sport pkg, color that want, etc is taking a long time to find. I was thinking of giving up on the sport pkg.

But, is the synchro rev match a worthwhile option that it's worth waiting for? Is it more of a gimmick? After having it, could you imagine owning a Z without it?

Please let me know your thoughts...

Thx

Zbrah 01-01-2016 12:07 AM

Rush into buying a base and you're going to be kicking yourself a few months down the line for not waiting it out for a sport package. So simple answer, yes it is worth the wait! I don't really care for the synchro rev feature so much but the wheels, spoiler, bbk, and forged rays are worth the extra time.

Leingod 01-01-2016 12:17 AM

Or get the touring if your girlfriend needs heated leather seats.

ban25 01-01-2016 12:38 AM

As Zbrah points out, the base is lacking in too many areas to be a worthwhile purchase. You could easily put $10k into the car just to get it up to the level of the Sport package in terms of wheels, brakes, LSD, etc., and still be missing SRM.

kynseon 01-01-2016 01:12 AM

Its a must.

Chan Chee Hoe 01-01-2016 02:37 AM

Not all Manual cars got this feature...if you don't like can turn it off.

barncobob 01-01-2016 07:12 AM

sport is way to go

Spstone 01-01-2016 07:53 AM

I like my SRM when I'm having fun on the back curvy roads. Regular day to day I turn it off seems like I get better gas mileage with out it. But when it's on I couldn't imagine not having it.

kenchan 01-01-2016 10:01 AM

YES

even if u know how to heel and toe, the throttle input lags on this car unless you get a voltage multiplier or tune. rev match is instantaneous when using syncro rev match, therefore u should get it.

:iagree:

Get the sport

geddy lee 01-01-2016 02:40 PM

You don't want the base for a variety of reasons!!!

kynseon 01-01-2016 02:42 PM

I mean base is not bad at all. But srm just makes the car a little bit more unique.

Duc_Z09 01-01-2016 03:02 PM

The sport package is worth the MSRP increase even on a brand new Z. On a used vehicle it's a no brainer.

phatjoe 01-01-2016 03:08 PM

Thanks everyone. I'll be purchasing a Z with the sport pkg.

Better yet get a Nismo (basically a base/sport with a cool body kit, wider tires, lower stance, nicer exhaust, 500 extra rpms, and a number plate). Then you can have all the base/touring owners tell you how you wasted your money while they spend thousands on rims, body kits, and lowering springs to make their cars look as nice as yours.:ugh2:

It's the same question about asking is it worth having sex with Megan Fox before she got married?

Oh hell ya!!!

I would not think Porsche and C7 corvette wouldn't add it to there cars if it's just worth as a gimmick 6 years after Nissan offered it to the market.

Wait 6 years???

JARblue 01-01-2016 04:53 PM

Definitely get the sport package. I made sure to get the sport package because of SRM. Then I found that I was happier I got the sport package for the upgraded wheels and brakes :twocents:

Breadz 01-01-2016 07:22 PM

Srm is worth

You a better man than me even married I'd still have sex with Megan Fox and not feel even a little guilty.

:gtfo2: base with sport package is the correct 370Z to get this gen.

felix0121 01-01-2016 10:27 PM

Is a sports car worth to you?

If yes, then the Sport PKG highly recommended.

The synchro rev match is one of the nicest features on the vehicle and well worth the effort to find a vehicle with it. I've been driving manual transmission vehicles for many many years and while I was very proficient at rev matching while shifting, the SRM takes all the guesswork out of it consistently.

m4a1mustang 01-02-2016 04:04 PM

Definitely worth it, IMO. If you don't like it you can always turn it off, but I find it to be very useful with this car. There is a bit of lag with the stock throttle response, which makes heel-toe difficult for me, so I just let SRM handle the rev-matching for me.

LAVA 01-02-2016 08:58 PM

Yes!

Z-Girl 12 01-02-2016 09:05 PM

A must option for me!

All 370's redline at 7500 rpm

TheGreatOne 01-02-2016 10:33 PM

Come off looking like a pro rev matching, really great feature to have. Might make you lazy in other manual cars though lol. But well worth the money, adds to the enjoyment of the car which is why you would buy a Z anyways. GL with your purchase.

My bad. Peak power comes about 500rpm later on the Nismo.

Houston Z33 01-03-2016 03:20 PM

If you buy a Base 370, you might as well just go look for a HR 350 and save even more money.

Try and find a Sport Touring without Nav - You'll be glad you did.

Not to mention more rare in that configuration, but so worth it

mishuko 01-04-2016 07:09 AM

i have to add that the sports package also comes with the lighted 'z' on the front fenders.

these decals > SRM.

jk.

SRM is awesome.

imjello 01-04-2016 08:36 AM

Hold up, Base w/ touring owner here, get the sport ( nismo if you wanna stunt on the sport guys ).

all versions of the 370z have the same engine. ‎3.7L VQ37VHR V6

Sport version gets; LSD, bigger wider forged wheels, bbk, SRM, front air dam, wing, gear indicator on the cluster

turn indicators, base has that.

this changed in 16... maybe 15' as well with the new packages being offered/lowered base price.

older models should have them.

oh and in canada they only offered base or touring sport. then tech on top of everything if opt'd.

yea... we're backwards. in fact we don't even offer the auto nismo in 15' lol

Dirk McGurck 01-04-2016 01:48 PM

I'm pretty sure all Zs in the US have those sidemarkers since it's a requirement for the DMV. Touring gets the lighted kickplates, though.

Dont get a sport for SRM, get the sport for the brakes.

darkphantom 01-05-2016 12:27 PM

Heel-toeing in this car takes a bit getting used to since throttle response is not instant. I <3 SRM and use it every day. Takes the headache out of heel-toeing and great when having to downshift in traffic.

Dirk McGurck 01-05-2016 12:53 PM

Get the Sport package for SRM and the brakes.

littlejuanito 01-05-2016 01:32 PM

Get the Sport package for the SRM and the brakes and the Viscous Limited-Slip Differential
