Nissan 370z vs Chevrolet Camaro, MAN you guys were right. Pics inside

So this weekend we went to the autoshow to pretty much figure out what our next cars are going to be. My gf, was looking between the audi A5, lexus is250c, infiniti G37 vert, and the camaro. I was looking at the camaro and 370z, possibly the g37.

I have been reading on this forum and others about the camaro, and man alot of you guys were right. The outside of the car seriously i think looks great as well as my gf. Its when we went inside the car, and what a turn off. I cant believe how cheap the camaro interior looked and felt. My g/f went to feel the dash, and it bent in. I was just amazed that they could built such a beautiful car, and skimp so much on the part that the customer sees everyday.

We are now going to test drive the cars, but looks like the lexus or G for her. I am sticking with the 370. I loved the interior over my old 350z thats for sure, and it felt like some thought was put into it. THe driving position feels wonderful on the car, and I now cannot wait to drive it. I am hoping the clutch isnt a girly clutch, b/c the auto show only had an auto.

I was hoping for a vert to be there, but nissan I guess didnt have any here yet in miami so they couldnt bring any to the show.

You guys are all very lucky, and I hopefully will be joining you soon. God bless.

molamann 11-02-2009 09:52 AM

I was looking at similar cars such as IS350, C350, A5, G37, etc with my gf also and believe it or not, she chose the Z over all of em.

6spd 11-02-2009 09:54 AM

i was this '' close to buying a camaro... until i test drove it. its very hard to find a dealer willing to let you drive one, but i was willing to buy it that night if they let me drive it and i liked it. well... i didnt and now i have a Z. i cant tell you how disappointing the camaro is from a workmanship/quality control stand point. from the cracked paint where body panels come together, to the misaligned doors, to the unfinished paint under the hood, its just a mess. not to mention how crappy it feels to drive, especially the drivetrain. yuck.

looks great though!

lemansz20 11-02-2009 09:56 AM

Oh and here are some pics, the lotus evora if I had the money would be in my garage. THe g/f loved it over the porsches( lucky me) and the car really is gorgeous and I think I can actually fit in this one as I am not a fat guy, but a big guy and the elise was just way to small. The camaro had transformers all over it, i guess some special edition, and the other car I guess is the future of the corvette. It looked pretty interesting, but was grabbing alot of attention thats for sure, took me forever to get that one shot.

She wants to at least have 4 seats so we gotta get her the useful car, and Ill have the useless one. The Z i sold b/c I got into some higher end cars, and then well I met her and got rid of everything to buy a place so now I have to budjet a little. Honestly the Z is just a great car, and after the cars I have had in the past and I am pretty young, I have never had more fun in a car then my old 350z. To me, I need to have a fun car to drive, not the most comfortable or the fastest as I know that now. THe Z nails everything for my needs, and my g/f just needs something not boring slow like a civic, but nice and comfortable and it has to look and feel nice to her.( w/e that means lol) I think the lexus will be the car for her, as the G37 vert trunk is kinda small, and since her car is going to be the useful one, trunk space is a little important.

I just need to squeeze a hockey bag in my z haha.

JungleB 11-02-2009 10:06 AM

There is a Transformers option for the Camaro. If you go to Chevy's website and build one you'll see it listed.

lemansz20 11-02-2009 10:17 AM

Heres a pic of it on the hood, man hollywood gets the point across anywhere now haha

lemansz20 11-02-2009 11:24 AM

lmao, that is awesome and I would have to agree, i bet their are better materials used to get that costume done.

feelzpwr91 11-02-2009 11:33 AM

good luck man!
370's lead the way

Justin1686 11-02-2009 11:43 AM

yeah, my next door neighbor has a brand new camaro in black, first off, such a bad choice of color on that car lol, but yes, its very nice exterior, interior, what were they thinking?.

Def go with the 370, you wont regret it. As for your wife, i was looking almost the same cars myself before i got my Z, the A5 & g37, style wise, the A5 is a beautiful car, even inside, its just if you car about power, you need to step up to the bigger engine, but as far as drivability in my opinion, the A5 is better then the G.

kannibul 11-02-2009 11:52 AM

Go for the G37 coupe...

Same engine, more "girl friendly"

One other tip...don't co-sign for her...either you buy it, and let her drive it, or, she buys it and drives it...unless you've been together for 5 years or longer, have been through financial issues together, and work well together on issues...

Yup :iagree:

i think one of my neighbors possibly just traded his truck in for a camaro since it was the same color as his former truck. they were pulling into the parking lot this morning as i was leaving. sure, i could have been polite and waited while he took up the whole lane to park but i just stayed on my side and kept going not giving a crap that they drive a camaro (i could care less) and just about clipped the back end leaving. they are not going to get any respect from me.

I disagree..Ive driven the A5 and its highly underpowered..fit and finish were great, but Audi's are on the low end of the spectrum when it comes to reliability..I would've picked a 335i, but went with the G because everyone in my area has a A5/S5/335i/135i

edit: my bad..you meant drivability..well since its underpowered and has awd..i guess it is..but whats the fun in getting a slow good looking car?

lemansz20 11-02-2009 05:43 PM

Well for her power isnt much, its more reliability, though the car will be leased and under warranty, she doesnt like going to the dealership, so its looking like the g37 or the lexus for her. I am pretty much made up on the 370, now just not sure if I wanna get a vert or coupe as I know not everyone likes it, but I love the convertible, just wanna make sure I am confortable in it.

I will have to disagree with that statement. Ive owned 2 Audis that were turbo charged and never had any issues with the reliability of the car in any way. Those engines can go 200K easy with no probs, other than the usual things that pop up in all cars. Plus their interiors are far more superior to most cars. I would have gone for the TTS but I wanted the power so I went for the Z but I do know that I did downgrade on a few things by going with the Z. Plus even when modded Audi never questioned that when it did come to replacing things that were actually blown by it being modded. I once had the paint on my radio buttons wear away and they replaced the whole radio no questons asked. Nissan actually looks for ways to get out of fixing things if modded.

The A5 is a little weak on power but the S5 isnt.

Just MHO

While my Audi was reliable too, it's hard to hide from 10 years of Consumer's report data....

Zsteve 11-02-2009 07:19 PM

I guess numbers dont lie but I have to tell you for the 8 years I had the 2 TTs the only probs I had were due to me modding the cars, ie blown DVs and such. I think I had to replace a battery once and had the paint come off the stereo buttons but all replaced no questions asked.

I had my interior changed out in my Z as part of the deal and Nissan took control of my car and took it to a place to have it done and a clip on the door panel is a little loose so I went back to Nissan and they are already saying they cant fix it cuz its not original. Now they are taking it back to the shop that did the work but they sure as hell arent taking responsibility for a item they agrred to do and even suggested it it to me to get me into the car. Now I will be moving to Tx soon and will have a prob if I need the seats fixed. They are already backing away and I never got that from Audi. Hopefully a call to Nissan HQ will get them to warrenty it since they agreed to it and never said they wouldnt warrenty it. But the seats do look good and it fits great.

I knew toyota was good for reliability.

Moonlitebiker 11-02-2009 07:40 PM

One of the ways to check reliability of a car is to look at the cost of their extended warranty. It's my understanding that Audi's cost is near the top.

Personally I was looking at Audi until my mechanic, and good friend, had a heart to heart with me.

Now I have to go back and look at that pic of the Camaro hood again.

Slynky 11-02-2009 07:56 PM

Can't say I have ever liked the new Camaro. The new Z design and the whole G35/G37 series are design winners.

At the risk of a "fight", I'd have to say few cars rival the style of the Z. Corvette, the Sky, and perhaps (uhhh...) the Solstice (but that's stretching it a bit).

Speaking of interiors, unless there have been changes, the Elise cockpit is really spartan. Love the body, though.

lemansz20 11-02-2009 10:01 PM

Slynky, the elise is barbarian at best, but its more of a race car. The NEW lotus evora, holy c... it was really nice, and the fact that the g/f actually prefered it more then the porsche made me a very happy guy. I believe in lotus more then alot of companies, b/c they stick to true sports car theories. Less weight, and decent power, combined together make an amazing vehicle.

I am laughing at the hood comments, and no that is not my g/f if anyone is wondering. She was taking that picture at the time, so I do find it funny that she got that perfect timing.

rcm2525 11-03-2009 08:47 AM

The Lotus is a sweet ride but as far as the Camaro goes I couldn't live with a car who's front end grins back:D

Matt 11-03-2009 10:12 AM

I like how in that chart, nissan skyrockets upwards at 3 years. Hope I don't hit 36,000 before the 3 year mark! :P

Pointman 11-03-2009 10:30 AM

For all those looking for a four door, im surprised no one has mentioned the Nissan Maxima. I've owned three over the years and they were all solid trouble free rides with good performance.

Thanks for your POV. Yes, I would agree the Elise is more of a "true" sports car. I only commented because someone mentioned hating the interior of the Camaro.

Honestly, I can't really get over my "import uppity-ness" to consider much of any American-made car purely for design. Absolutly, the Corvette, though. It's just too big (long), though.

You must have a really hot GF if she appreciates the look of a tight sports car ! I'd say she could be a keeper !

It's the american way. They've been doing it long before their bankruptcies and still haven't learned their lesson of people don't want to buy inferior design cars.

I think you need to revisit that graph. After 3 years Nissan acvtually has less issues, ie, the graph goes down.

Nissan has the biggest jump between 2-3 years out of all cars in that timeframe, and it's peak at 3 years is the highest of them all.

Why would I need to revisit the graph in order to see that?

i wonder what counts as a "problem"

I was wondering that too. Also Nissan has the highest up to 3 yrs and then really drops. I think thats when the warrenty is up and most get fixed elsewhere or trade in. Others have 5 yr warrenties (?) which might be why they keep going up as they get them fixed for free and bring them to the dealers. Plus I think on some more expensive cars the owners are more anal about things than on less expensive cars and bring them in for smaller things, which is what I wondering about what constitutes a problem. But man Toyota does really good. I had a Tercel for the wife which we bought with over 100,000 miles on it and all I had to do for 3 yrs was put oil in (alot) and get new tires. The thing ran great but was a real cheap car lux wise.

Wether it be a "roof rack" or a "hood rack" I think we all agree...it's just a nice rack.
