Sh*t, just last weekend I had 4 major break checks and two "thank god no one is that lane" when I cranked the wheel right to avoid those inbred, lifted pickups deciding it wasn't where they wanted to turn. Most harrowing 10 mile trip to beach ever. A-holes in trucks.

Outstanding reaction time  and glad it worked out for you :iagree:

I'm home. I think my butt sucked up part of my office chair.

You were in his blind spot. Be careful of those around big trucks. Trucker should have waited to be sure it was clear instead of merging so quickly. Good save though.
|
I was expecting worse. That **** happens to me at least twice every week. You learn to anticipate it. It's even worse on a motorcycle.
|
Glad you are OK!

Fortunately, the truck-driver realized what was happening more quickly than I did and gave me some breathing room. The lug nuts on his front wheel absolutely demolished our rear door. The cop who investigated looked at our car, then at the truck, and then asked the truck-driver, "And all you got was your lugs polished?" Glad you were alert enough to avoid a bad outcome! |
Glad you're okay!

What the heck were you listening to?

Agree With "Spooler"
At that angle, it is really hard to see what's in the left lane. But big trucks have multiple mirrors. He missed seeing you. In our Zs , with the small mirror, I learned early, you have to get parallel with the other lane before you can count on your mirror.
Thanks for the post. It will help us all be even more careful. It is best to make a serious effort to stay away from big trucks when you can. Cheers, |
good job driving, always looking ahead
