I'm surprised that shop thought it was okay to return the car to you in that condition. You're onviously a better man than me bro. I would have brought a **** storm had it been my car. Good luck getting it straighten out.

km1346 08-28-2015 12:20 AM

I'm not gonna lie, I have learned to become a LOT more patient with people nowadays.. It helps diffuse problems quicker but, on the other hand, also gives people the opportunity to take advantage of you. I really don't want to blow up at this guy at the shop though, he has taken care of me (for the most part) and has argued in my behalf to State Farm for a bunch of small issues that came up during the repair process. He did apologize for not reviewing the full car before it was given back but he mainly talks to the insurance companies and orders parts, it's other people at that shop that should've done their job before giving the car back. He also, unfortunately, does not have the authority to authorize any repairs until the adjuster gives him the "OK" to do so.

Tomorrow if I do not hear anything by noon from the shop I will give that adjuster a call and you can be sure that it won't be nice.

Thanks everyone again for all the support, I appreciate it.

Lawyers are more a hassle than its worth for stuff like this. In addition, threatening legal counsel typically won't make an insurance company any more willing to work with you.

Being patient sucks but I think you're going about this the correct way. Sometimes a 'firm' discussion with the adjuster is needed! Good luck

State Farm has approved the motor mounts. Should I tell them to replace with OEM or suggest the z1 after market polyurethane ones? They're cheaper and better than stock from what I've read. Someone let me know soon so I can talk to my shop guy about this. Thanks.

The poly mounts will introduce a little bit more NVH but will feel better when launching and hard shifts.

Sorry to hear about your issues... Did they say anything about the A/C? could be a loose line or something?.

This is exactly why people wan't their cars to be totaled after a significant accident like this, It's just never the same again once it's torn apart and put back together.

I did a bit of research and found out that one of the engine mounts is right next to the ac compressor or compressor lines and my only assumption is that once they broke it caused the AC to act funny. He said he recharged the system, checked all the lines but didn't see anything yet. I let him know that I will not be taking the car back or signing any forms once everything has been taken care of.

One good thing is, aside from all of the rattling and small aesthetic issues, the car drove great when I took it home on Wednesday (I drove it HARD), which made me happy. So I still have some hope.

Got the car back today! Try #2 lol

Literally after a month. The guy also installed some of my after market pieces which were sitting in the garage collecting dust.

Cf fangs, cf side blades, cf rear diffuser

All the aesthetic issues which I had last week were all fixed. The transmission was not wobbly at all and the car did not feel loose when redlining in first and second. I drove it really hard on the way home and honestly did not find any issues.

Later on I went to my buddy GotZ's place and we got a few photos. Here is the end result. Thanks everyone for being supportive and letting me vent.

I love this car community more than any other one that I've been a part of.

km1346 09-16-2015 06:59 PM

sorry to spark up this thread again guys.. but I have a few issues with my car and since I have still not signed any release papers I need to know if this is something that might be related to the wreck or not and how I should proceed with the repairs

Here they are:
1) CMC or CSC is going bad - Read a lot about this and i know its very common on the Z's so I didn't think it was from the wreck but it is an issue none the less.

2) Hissing noise when the car is at idle and light acceleration. I have berk HFC's (bought them used) and FI exhaust. This is not normal. I have not heard the car hiss like this before. I know there should be a hissing noise when rpms are decreasing but what about when you're sitting at idle or accelerating in first and second gear?
Nissan tech said its from the left side close to the HFCs and headers but cannot visually find it until he takes it all apart.

3) Clicking noise in the rear - again common problem, nissan fixed it for free but just putting this out there in case it returns.

4) This has nothing to do with the wreck but I need an oil cooler as I am seeing temps of 245-255 continuously. Do you guys recommend 25 row or 34 row for the texas heat? ( I DD my car but I drive it like I stole it)

Aside from that everything is great..

Any suggestions on the hissing? Possible leak? Need new HFCs?

Thanks for the help guys.

I'm hoping the OP is OK? But I'm on a 100 for 100 streak here... I've been guessing correct for 6 years straight. Especially when I see descriptive words like "negligent". When I see accident threads... It's now a game for me...

Let me guess? Did the accident occur in the Land where 70% of the people are total idiots behind the wheel and should still be on horses cuz their IQ is too low to manage driving a car???

Did it happen in Texas?

I am good, this did happen in Texas, Irving to be exact. Hit by a driver who was on his cellphone and ran a red light.

Spooler 09-16-2015 09:22 PM

34 row oil cooler with MoCal thermostatic plate. The extra hiss may be due to an exhaust leak.

axmea? 09-16-2015 09:31 PM

None of them are related to the wreck.

You're probably right. I just got paranoid when I heard hissing in idle and Nissan tech told me it's from the left side under my car..
Makes me feel like something got knocked loose in my exhaust system during the wreck.. Or I have bad HFCs.

I feel your pain, man. Just got my 350Z destroyed by a construction truck. They don't know what proper following distance and brake lights mean where the driver of that truck comes from...

Sorry to hear that man! Are you okay?! I swear it's so hard to have nice things with idiots on the roads nowadays. They took responsibility for it, right?

Diminished value

Hey man i was in an accident in May with my Z with 25000 miles on. Some ahole turned into my lane and caused me to smash into their car. Damages were $5700. I went after diminished value since my car was new and accident free. After 3 months of dealing with state farm i just settled for $4,750. state farm kept low balling me with $2,500 offers. Dont know if this helps or not. Good luck!

I went through an independent adjuster and he is helping me with the process with state-farm. I will be talking to them next week so I am hoping for the same settlement if not higher. Glad to hear yours got worked out man. I'm close to the final settlement and it's been 2 months..

Both of you guys need coils or springs. But dang they look really hot. Glad you got your baby back!
