True. She was still running after the initial hit, I was able to drive the car into an empty lot and get it out of traffic, with coolant leaking.. Proud of her.

Got hit today by a negligent driver.

Quick update..

The other party's insurance company has accepted all responsibility for this accident. The shop quoted the repairs at 10.4k (All paid for by the other driver's insurance company) which does not make the car totaled because the car is worth around 24k.

The shop assured me that there is no major damages. A lot of the suspension parts were bent because they are made out of aluminum and he assured me that they will ONLY use new parts for the suspension and new parts for other areas of the damages. He also told me not to worry and that he will make sure it'll look like new when he returns the car back to me and to expect nothing less. (good guy)

I will also be filing a diminished value claim (with an individual appraiser who handles these types of claims) after the repairs are done, the shop said that I can expect to get back around 2-3.5k for my cars diminished value.

At that point I have the decision to either trade in the car and get a new Z or keep the car because I already got the difference in diminished value.

What do you guys suggest I do?
Thanks for all the help and support.

I'd say wait until you get the car back before you make any decisions. If the guy is good at body repair, and since the frame doesn't sound bent, it may be just fine for as long as you want to own it. Me personally, if I could I'd think about just making it a straight up track day car now. Since it's taken damage you can thrash it as much as you want without worry.

Fair enough. Sounds like you've got a good shop working on it. All those suspension parts are bolt on, so it should drive the same once you get it back, just play it by ear.

One thing I would ask is that only Nissan OEM parts are used as most insurance companies like to substitute aftermarket parts to save on costs. When someone backed into my Altima, I asked the shop for OEM parts and they had no hesitation.

I emailed the guy who I've been speaking with about the repairs and he emailed back saying they are using nothing but OEM Nissan parts on my car. Thank you for bringing that up! :tiphat:
I have another 8-10 days until I get her back.. So anxious..

I have a Nissan Altima as a rental (paid for by the other person's insurance). It's not too bad but when I floor it I feel like a turtle... Oh and I also really miss shifting gears. :driving:

I was right.

Get your car appraised at CARMAX after the work is done. See what they quote you.

The guy I am going through for the diminished value claim says he can get back about 20-30% of the damage value of the vehicle in diminished value. He is an individual appraiser, so he will be able to value my car prior to and post wreck, and hopefully get me a decent sized check..

CARMAX will low ball me like no other. They always do. Can't have them insult my Z like that! :shakes head:

Another short update...

Shop calls me and tells me that they are done with all the suspension repairs. Everything looks good. However, they are waiting on a lot of parts from Nissan that are on back order.. They checked all the Nissans in the U.S. and no one has these parts. So they have to be ordered from Japan, where they are currently on back order.. This pushed my repair date back by two weeks. My car is now expected to return to me in the first week of September if all goes well.. Great.

Guess I'll have to get comfy in this Altima for the time being...

Km, as a fellow Dallas 40th owner, it sickens me to see this. I don't know about you, but the 40th is very special to me and another sport touring Z wouldn't be my baby again. I almost got rear ended last week by a woman who was on the phone - had to pull all 4 tires into the grass and she stopped 5 feet behind the car I was originally behind.

What shop are you using? Never hurts to keep good ones in mind.

The 40th is very special to me as well. I try my best not to use it as a daily and take out my 04' Toyota Highlander whenever it's available at the house. I treat it like a Ferrari lol, but I would hate to have one knowing it has a wreck on it, I would only consider moving on to a Nismo after this if I did sell it and moved on to another Z because I love the Nismos.

I am using Auto Tech Services in Mansfield TX. My buddy used them a long time ago when he got in a really bad wreck and I remember seeing his car the day he got it back, it looked brand new.. They have the same people working there who remembered us and told me they'll make sure the repairs are done right.

I will post pictures once I get the car back so you guys can judge the job yourself.

Got hit today by a negligent driver.

Update:

Spoke with the guy at the shop today and he told me that some of the parts that they had been waiting on order had shipped in early and there are only a couple more small moulds they're waiting on to finish everything. So it looks like I won't have to wait for another 2-4 weeks for back ordered parts!

He also told me to expect the car by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. I was concerned at first, because I felt like they might've used aftermarket or salvaged parts to rush my repairs so I asked him and he assured me only new Nissan OEM parts were used.

There was apparently small damage on the front bumper which he found out later, he repainted it and is applying a brand new clear bra on Friday and will let it sit over the weekend. This was good news, now I just hope that the car drives like it did before the accident, when I go to pick it up next week.

Tbone

Had the same T-bone wreck on my brand new 2013 370 NISMO, check out my profile pics, crash pic are in there. Gotta tell ya, its probably totaled. The frame was warped. They could straighten it out, but weren't sure once straightened, if all the parts would fit/align correctly. They didn't want to take on the task of having to tweak each part to make them fit once the frame was straightened So they cut me a nice check and I bought another brand new 370 NISMO, 2014.

I have not. Since the other party has admitted all fault and I have evidence they did I didn't feel the need to consult a lawyer unless things got out of hand. Their insurance has told me they will reimburse all medical costs incurred due to the accident injury so I'm going tomorrow for my first treatment. My neck and back are in pain and I hope they feel better soon.

Don't forget to bring up compensation for your pain and suffering, also loss of wages for doctor visits and such too. If you don't ask, they will not pay you a dime, this is why lawyers gets paid for what they do.

Yeah, and don't forget to claim, "sex drive is gone," "can't work due to mental anguish," "you no longer feel special," and most important, "370Z lives matter!!" :p

From my experience, you always add two to three weeks to any body shops' estimated time.

Looks like it still holds true. I wouldn't mind betting that they extend it once more. :icon17:

I'd HIGHLY recommend speaking to a lawyer regardless. They're going to do the best to lowball you and keep money in THEIR pockets. They aren't going to willingly pay out what you deserve. My mom got sideswiped and had a ton of chiropractor bills and insurance tried to low ball her. As soon as she got her lawyer involved, what they offered her more than tripled. What they offered wouldn't even cover the full cost of her chiropractor bills.

A lot of personal injury lawyers will just collect a percentage of the settlement as well. You shouldn't have to pay a penny out of pocket.

I sat on a jury about 15 years ago where the plaintiff was claiming "loss of consortium" for both himself and his wife as a result of injuries he received from an accident (not automobile). Let me just say that that addition to his claims did not play well in the jury room. I was surprised by how mad the female jurors became about it.

On a sadder personal note, I have received another summons for jury duty for next week. I think it is diminishing my sex drive :o

Congrats on getting everything settled with the insurance company and I hope the treatment you are going in for begins to help.
Remember that even though it wont get better right off the bat, there are chiropractors who do NOT know what they are doing and can hurt more than heal. Then again that is the way with any doctor haha. Kinda why they have malpractice insurance too.

Good luck with the journey ahead!

Got hit today by a negligent driver.

Hey guys.. Sorry for not updating but it's been a stressful two days.

I got the car back yesterday and it was looking pretty good. Paint was spot on and he replaced my three piece clear bra with a one piece 3m bra, which was awesome.. I didn't sign any liability release forms but I did take it home. Once I got home I did a very thorough examination and found a few issues here they were

1) fender line and A pillar line on the driver side did not align properly

2) side skirt (drivers side) was loose

3) one headlight was a different color than my other one, which was 6k while the new one had OEM (I had aftermarket HID bulbs)

4) window did not align with the seal properly when door closed, causing wind to be heard as you drove

5) unknown rattling (I'll get into this later)

6) AC was acting funny, I usually left it at 75 and it was cold, now, two notches above 60 and it's extremely hot air.

7) wobbly shifter at high rpms in first and second gear..

So immediately next morning (today) I took the car back, picked up my rental that was there.

Guy from the shop calls me and says they fixed everything aesthetically but he heard rattling as well and will check it out.

Later he calls and says two of my motor mounts are busted (my car has 35k miles) which caused the rattling and the wobbly shifter and need to be replaced and he does not know if State Farm will cover it because it's a normal wear and tear.

He said it cost about a grand to replace wit new OEM mounts... I told him I will not pay for this bc my car did not have this damage before the accident and also my car is not under power train warranty.

He said he thinks state farms will not pay for this.. But they have an adjuster coming out and looking at it tomorrow..

How do I go about this if state-farm refuses my claim? I'm so irritated right now....

If State Farm says no to me even after I show them proof that I had my car inspected on July 20th at Nissan and nothing was wrong then and my car got hit two weeks later which caused this damage then yes I will hire a lawyer.

You have no idea....! I'm so picky about my car I had it for less than 12 hours before I took it back to him... Such a tease. If there are still problems after this, I might seriously have to consider trading this in for the 2015 Nismo.
