New 2010 370 coupe

Waiting to buy when the 2010 comes out anyone hear about if the oil temp issue will be corrected????

vipor 10-26-2009 01:54 PM

It's a non-issue for non-tracked cars. 220 is still well within oil temp limits. If you start seeing 250+ then worry, but it won't happen during normal driving.

To sum it up: no factory oil cooler on the 2010 model.

I heard the nismo will have one

Again, not saying yes or no, but those pictures have all been from pre-production cars. The 2009 pre-production cars had oil coolers on them also and we see how that played out.

vipor 10-26-2009 02:46 PM

2010s will have heated mirrors, no oil coolers :P

As Dreamer stated, even the '09 Nismo pre-prod car had a cooler. No such luck from the line. 99% sure this will be the case come Dec/Jan.

250 happened to me several times this summer during normal driving :p

Are you sure it was an oil cooler? Also the 2010 Nismo is not out yet, 2009 is still in production.

VCuomo 10-26-2009 03:15 PM

The OP did not say he was purchasing a Nismo.

Here's a different way of putting it: There is no oil temperature "issue". If you plan on tracking the car, then you need to equip it properly (which may include purchasing an oil cooler) for track use.

unless my eyes have recently failed me, and it is possible...

i remember getting down to look. and if you look at the car from the front, on the left corner in front of the radiator there was another cooling element... roughly 8 inches long by 4 inches high, and 1 inch deep. it was an 09, this happened like 1 month ago

I asked the sales guys, since when is this oil cooler offered, their reply:

"comes on all nismo versions"

so the obvious return question:

"can I get one for my car, or better yet will it be standard"

he said he does not know about it being standard, but i can buy the nismo one, and he gave me a part number on it.

So it could have been something else, up front, or they added it.

theDreamer 10-26-2009 03:21 PM

There is an official Nismo oil cooler, and a dealer can add them or any item for that matter at their will, but he lied to you. The oil cooler is not on all Nismo (2009) models, and still unknown about 2010, all we can do is wait and see.

Yes, your eyes were deceiving you and your salesman is uninformed (what a surprise). That is a Power steering cooler and has always been on all 370's.

To avoid activation of this engine protection system and these reduced peak engine speeds, Nissan recommends an oil cooler be fitted to the 370Z before driving it on a race track. A Nissan Motorsports accessory oil cooler kit is available for customer purchase through authorized Nissan dealerships for race track use. The part number is 21300-SS370.

An oil cooler is not necessary for normal operation of the vehicle on public roads. The addition of an oil cooler would have raised the price of the car and potentially moved it out of the reach of some customers. Value has been a core principle of the Z car since the original 240Z and we choose to uphold this core principle by not adding additional costs that are unnecessary for normal use. For those individuals who choose to drive their vehicle on a race track, the oil cooler is available as an aftersales item.

The oil cooler is a Nissan Motorsports item and as such is sold without warranty, express or implied, unless expressly prohibited by law in which case the warranty provided is the minimum required by law. The installation of the Nissan Motorsports oil cooler does not, by itself, “void” the vehicle warranty. However any damage caused by the installation or use of this part is expressly excluded under the terms of the Nissan New Vehicle Limited warranty.
