It was the original internal design with plastic components that had the problem. They solved it by using an external slave for the last few model years IIRC. Then for the 370Z, they went back to the shitty, prone-to-failure original design :ugh2:

That was the inspiration. Why Nissan went back to the old, shitty design is beyond comprehension :shakes head:

I bought the Z1 kit when my master started getting soft. I enlisted some help and did the install over a weekend. I did not want to get stranded since I drive all over Texas, including places with no cell service and no traffic. Road side assist doesn't do much good when you can't call them :ugh:

Were the Z's CSC at one point? sorry, dont know the history of fairladies.

i thought they did too, but since the design is completely different, they encountered the external slave cylinder leak, not the CSC. much easier to repair i thinks.

Hrmm... did not hear as much about this.

I wonder how long it would take for problems with the Z1 kit to emerge. They did use a Howe racing cylinder (maybe better than the one Nissan chose?), and they have replacement cylinders for $60 with no transmission drop to install.

I thought the early 350Z were internal CSC but they had problems (like the 370Z does) and so they went to an external slave in later years. But I'm no expert nor did I stay at Holiday Inn Express last night  :icon17:

i see. my G35C (2004) has the old folk lever + pivot ball system with the external cylinder.

:iagree: part of my reasoning for this kit was to avoid having to drop the transmission if any more problems with the slave arise

I just took at look at it. The Z1 kit looks far superior. And I like how some idiot vendor (who I already figured to be an idiot) was knocking the build quality

The 350Z definitely had an internal CSC originally. I'm not exactly sure which years or models used an external one (I saw reports of 2007s with internal CSC failures). Or whether it was the same design as the G or they improved the G and used the new version on both Z and G in later years.
