hit and run on my 370z

So me and my gf were talking how much we hate edmonton...lol...i really dislike this place compaired to nova scotia....anyways we were coming to the the parking lot of Walmart. I was on the road and needed to turn left....this women was on the road i needed to get on and she was turning right onto my road. She stopped but she was taking the turn way to wide while she was on her cell phone...so i made a wide turn to try and get around her. Once i realised i wouldnt be able to get between her and the curb/other cars parked...i stopped and honked my horn to get her to start moving forward and right to let me get by. She just kept going straight and scratched up against me. I stopped, honked my horn 3 times and started to get out...she took off. Got back in my car and got through the parking lot as quick and safely as possible. Once i got on the road i was flying down the street to catch up to her. She tried to loose me but she then realised a 2008 Maxima or Sentra(ill explain later) wont out run a 370z. I got my gf to quickly get the plate which she did...once the women realised she wasnt going to loose me she pulled over into a gas station. Her and her boyfriend stepped out and the first words that she said was "i didnt know we hit each other....either way this is your fault and you can pay the damage" I was going to be calm and say "are you ok? any injuries?" but she kinda pissed me off...but i still remained calm. So i said "ok that...whatever, can i have your licence, insurence and registration. At the same time i was trying to contract the police but couldnt find the non-emergency number.

So she said "why dont we just drive to the station" i was thinking we shouldnt but i said ok....on the way she went into a hospital parking lot and tried to take turns that didnt lead us to the station and was speeding pretty fast...once again, she realised she cant out run a 370z so we eventually made it to the police station. Cops wants us to get a damage estimate before the file a report but the women started going on and on that its my fault. I then told the cops that she we hit each other and she took off running and then tried to run again once we agree'd to come to the station. She told the cops "i didnt know we hit each other in the parking lot until we were down the road and i seen him following me"

The Officer replied "if you didnt know you hit each other then how do you know its his fault?" So she kept telling stories but they kept contradicting everything she was saying. So we left the station...i had her info and was going to get a estimate and do all that stuff. Took a better look at her info. Faults that i found:

1. Drivers licence does not match up with insurence
2. Insurence does not match up with car registration
3. Says on the registration that its a maxima but me and my gf are pretty sure it was a sentra. So it might be the wrong plates/registration on the car
4. Her insurence runs expires in 3 days.

So i called her up and asked why is this info incorrect. She tells me she will call me later cuz she is helping her mother with something (lie) She then calls back about 15mins later and says she talked to her friend...its her friends car.

iiunno about her in alberta but back home....if you drive your friends are, even with permission you are not coverd under the insurence. You have to call the insurence company up and add them on for the day to your police or let them know whats going on. My gf's father did that for when he tought me how to drive.

So i know its 50/50 in a parking lot. However she was on her phone, she hit and ran, provided me with incorrect info and might not be legally insurenced. If she is insured...what do you guys think my chances are that she will be liable for this due to her mistakes she did. Either win or loose with the insurence...i will be taking this to court...she hit and ran then lied...plain and simple. Might not be alot of damage but its still damage. Anyways heres the pictures

My heart sank when I saw the damage man. Sorry to hear all that.

I can't imagine anybody, police, judge, or insurance agent, not realizing how overwhelmingly at fault she was.

StLRedrider 10-24-2009 11:02 PM

damn, sorry to see your z fuc%ed up. hope things get better!!!!

JNguyen 10-24-2009 11:04 PM

Have the police go to Wal Mart and ask for the cameras in the parking lot for the specific date/time

They will ******** you. Have the POLICE go. I worked Loss Prevention you dont deal with citizens for **** police you cooperate with.

jookiyaya 10-24-2009 11:30 PM

wow thats crazy i didnt know you had to call the insurance company just to get permission, even for a day.

i work for state farm insurance here in america.
as far as if you drive a friends car, as long as person A (who owns the car)lets a friend or a relative drive their car, they are immediately covered under person A's coverage. If that friend or relative gets into an accident, then its pretty much person A's insurance premium that will be affected.

Same thing for renting a vehicle. if you rent a vehicle from hertz, enterprise or wherever, any existing vehicle coverage carries over to the rental as well.

so if u ever get a rental and they insist on you getting insurance, dont take it. waste of extra cash. in america that is, not sure how rental works in canada but man hope everything goes well bro. that scratch was heartbreaking to see =/

edeeZee 10-24-2009 11:30 PM

Since she gave you phony info, it's obvious she's hiding guilt. In the state of California, giving false info in accidents, fender-benders and hit & runs are felonies.

nogoodname 10-24-2009 11:44 PM

Get her for false info and get her for hitting and running..... Make her pay for it. Hope her insurance premiums are increased for hitting and running by quite a bit. Don't let up on this. Sounded like the cop didn't care that all her info and papers are messed up... What a hill billy cop.....lol

Did you take pics of her car because there should be marks on it.

What you talking about? Cop really had no definite call in this case. He didnt arrive at a scene where it happened they showed up at the station. Its one word vs the other. The police need to go to Wal Mart and get their recordings. ALL places like this have a camera outside.

nogoodname 10-24-2009 11:58 PM

The mismatching papers is shady..... I mean c'mon, none of the registration and insurance papers were proper and she just leaves and carries on.

Hit and run damage costs will most likely come out if his own insurance.

They both left the scene....thats the issue there. The fact the police werent called to the scene and they both showed up could go either way as shady as a story may seem. Best bet for the OP is to get the police to go and recover the tapes. Like I said I worked Loss Prevention before and they will tell normal people that they dont have tapes outside. ALL places like this do. If he wants to support his case the Police have to go take the recordings and review them.

agree'd...ill be going back to the police tomorrow to see if they will go get the camera recording if there is any. And no i didnt have a camera in the car....stupid me...i have 2 cameras, should have kept one in the car. If for some reason she is coverd under her friends insurence and they say its 50/50...im still going to nail her for hit and run. I had go almost 3x the speed limit to catch up to her...luckly the traffic was light and the lights were green for me. Then she tried to take off and take some hard turns, going through parking lots of a hospital...guess she failed to realise my car has 280whp and handles amazing in corners.

Edit: I use to work LPO and armed security also so i thought it was really ****** up when the store manager said they didnt have cameras outside. Only reason i left the scene is to chase after the bitch. Really wish that law will pass that they are starting to vote on whether u can drive while on a cell phone.

Go ASAP trust me. Some places loop over their previous recordings and the tape could be lost. Considering there was an accident if the police show up they HAVE to turn it over for them to look at. Do NOT talk about how fast you had to go to keep up with her. All I have to say........

yea i know, im not going to say that to them, ill i said was "i was able to get turned around and caught up to her due to light traffic and green lights"

I'll be going first thing in the morning to talk to the police...hopefully the cameras dont loop over. The place i did security had kept the recordings for 13 days.

blue660r01 10-25-2009 12:10 AM

Good luck. Keep us updated.

Snakes709 10-25-2009 12:13 AM

will do...luckly my Warrent Officer at work is not pissed. I was suppose to go on a Winter Warefare excerise in the mountains this week...now im not..lol

nogoodname 10-25-2009 12:15 AM

Is the store allowed to let you view the recording??

Can they save it for the police to come and take it??

Typical stores like I said from my experience as LP will NOT let a civilian come in and view recordings. Police we would work with without hesitation. LP and police are basically like partners. When a shoplifter is caught you call the police, they come in view the act on tape and apprehend the suspect. Why argue with a hit and run in the lot?

Snakes709 10-25-2009 12:21 AM

^^^ indeed. Although to make it easier on people and depending what the situation was i would tell the person to wait in the main office and i would review the recordings myself to provide the info they required. Thats if it was something small...anything that is a major issue and police were involved they would burn a copy of it. I'm hoping walmart does have camera's...i didnt get to check around outside if i could see any.

See Wal Mart is a different story. I worked for MACYS so if anything happened outside of the store it wasnt our issue. I would tell them to contact mall security for issues such as that but Wal Mart is its own separate thing.

nogoodname 10-25-2009 12:24 AM

Just asking cause the popo here in Quebec are really slow with paperwork and the recording would be lost by the time they request for it. It's month 3 on my hit and run case, popo called last week he didn't even start.... Lol

he has the licence plate off a witness and it was in a parking lot.

Drive around with busted bumper and dented exhaust FTL !

Pharmacist 10-25-2009 12:25 AM

Damage doesn't look too bad. Just a paint job and it'll be fine. And it IS possibe she didn't know she hit you. A minor scratch like that doesn't shake the car or make too much sound, can be very hard to feel. I know because I've done it.

If the car was her friends and insurance wont cover it, you have your own uninsured motorist coverage. You pay for it annually. Might as well use it. Hit and run will be very difficult to prove. YOu have no witnesses (unless the walmart camera picked up something), and its your word against hers, and techincally you both "ran" from the scene. Most likely it will come down to 50/50 fault

i agree on most of that...although you could clearly hear the sound of the cars scraping each other...sounded like nails on a chalk board...i also had my music on and still heard it. She is also lieing about something because she said to me soon as i got out of my car and she said it to the police again "its his fault, how he turned in the parking lot was ********" then she said "i didnt know he hit me" Cop asked her "how do you know its his fault if you didnt know you hit each other?" She kept contradicting herself every time she opend her mouth. Did it 2 times to me at the gas station...did it 3 times to the cops and then again when i called her tonight.

I'm hoping to god walmart has cameras...cuz like you said, hard to prove. I had my gf in the car but she can easily lie for me (not that there is anything to lie about) and she had her boyfriend in the car which was already lieing to me when we first got out of the cars...bah i hate life.

Steven 10-25-2009 12:33 AM

Sorry to hear about that and best of luck.

why would they? most stores have cameras inside to deter theft. They have little interest in what happens outside on the parking lot. couple of years ago, my car was dented by a shopping cart, but there were no cameras outside, and no way to determine who was responsible. ended up hammering out the dent myself.

blue660r01 10-25-2009 12:35 AM

People are scumbags that is all

WooZ 10-25-2009 12:37 AM

Sorry about your car. I hate it when people lie instead of owning up. Some people are just crap.

nogoodname 10-25-2009 12:37 AM

Is there not any paint marks on her front left bumper ??

Snakes709 10-25-2009 12:37 AM

well i know there is 2 stores in front of walmart...i checked google earth and if they have video cameras to monitor there loading bays then they will also catch what happend.

loading bays will DEFF have cameras....check the surrounding areas... You might not be able to zoom in and clear the license plate out to prove its her but its worth a shot.

Snakes709 10-25-2009 12:40 AM

its actualy her left rear. Like i said she was taking up more then half the road and on a angle, i made a wide turn thinking i could get around her...realised i couldnt, stopped, honked the horn to get her to start turning but she didnt, she moved straight and her left rear bumper (but still on the left side of the car) hit mine. She has paint damage, might be able to buff it out, it didnt look as deep as mine.

nogoodname 10-25-2009 12:44 AM

That's one messed up way to get hit...... It's way to late in the night to picture it....lol

Snakes709 10-25-2009 12:47 AM

yea i know....its confusing, i still dont understand fully how it happend...all i remember is looking out my window, watching her car rub against mine and not being able to do anything...unless i wanted to go over the curb and hit the parked cars.

The proof that is needed is who hit who...and who took off.

Getting a record of her cell phone calls to prove she was on the phone at the time would also help.

Same thing with the gas station she stopped at, then again at the hospital where she was trying to "lose" the OP.

Seriously, this person should lose the ability to drive and spend some time in jail, especially if they can prove that she was driving recklessly in a hospital parking lot...lol

kannibul 10-25-2009 01:09 AM

Also, for your own protection, have the mods delete this thread ASAP. This thread could be used against you...not that there is anything bad in it, however, a slick lawyer can turn anything around.
