:iagree: But future wise, cars are really bumping performance up and the Z is gonna need it little bag of tricks to stay competitive. F.I. would be trick one. If BMW can make the 228 class competitive? So can Nissan.

The 228 accelerates to 60 in the low 5', is modifiable and completely enthusiast friendly at 40k. Completely class competitive. If you're into modding? The 228 is a great platform. And we don't need all that luxury the BMW has in the Z So it's doable to create a hardcore sports car for reasonable cash.

Still talking / dreaming of a twin turbo v6 is not happening guys. We'll be lucky if Nissan even comes out with another sport car until 2019-2020. They're already getting left behind by ford, Mazda. Even Vw has a golf r coming out and Honda has a new civic si. There's a new Miata . New focus rs. So many segments Nissan is doing nothing in.

The only Z I'd trade for is a 370 Roadster with a GT-R engine.

I had a 280Z. The minute they put the X on the label they lost the look. Even the 280 bumpers sucked. From there all they did was cheese it up. I didn't care for the 300 or the 350. The 370 is dead sexy. I took one look and fell in love again. I can't see 'em getting better from here, at least for a few poor versions.

Is it possible they'll come out with a new hot Z? Perhaps. A guy with a large catapult told me pigs really can fly. I remain skeptical.

:iagree: but we can still dreaming about it :p

man if Nissan at least make the damn IDX Nismo.... I know they are going to get on the battle for the maket on FRS/BRZ, Miata, GTI, ETC... But at this point Nissan are not making any move :shakes head:

Every car you mentioned other than the Miata is a mass-produced vehicle. Those are just souped up variants of them. It's a lot easier for a company to justify making a hotter version of a mass selling vehicle from a business standpoint. The Z is a niche market vehicle that probably doesn't make Nissan much, if any money.

Just enjoy the car you drive and try not to get all wrapped up in it. :driving:

Nissan has a twin turbo v6 coming for the new q60 coupe that's been confirmed.

Its not a stretch to imagine it going into a Z

The Q60 coupe shares its direct-injected, twin-turbocharged DOHC 3.0-liter V-6 with the saucy Q80 Inspiration concept, which Infiniti revealed at the Paris motor show last fall, although in this application it’s not supplemented by an electric motor. Mated here to a seven-speed automatic, this V-6 is part of a new line of lighter, smaller engines that will start spreading throughout Infiniti’s future lineup within two years, replacing the ancient 3.7-liter V-6. Infiniti is mum on output, but don’t be surprised if it makes somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 horsepower in the Q60.

and from what reasoning are you basing this off of? nissan already put a TT V6 for the GTR, so i wouldn't rule out FI for future Z-series cars.

and again, from what reasoning are you basing about nissan getting "left behind"? you can't really compare a civic si and a Z, as they are worlds apart. coming from an FG2 07 Si (which btw isn't that much more different in terms of performance from the current Si), i can personally attest that they are completely in different classes.

lets make it automatic so you can feel like a f1 driver.

or better yet, lets make it seamlessly smooth so you can feel like a super good MT driver.

now let's add simulated gear box shock cause dat's sporty and makes u feel like a pos driver in a nissan sunny.

The Z is completely cost effective @ 5,000 units a year. It has

Mass produced chassis
Mass produced transmission
Mass produced engine
Mass produced ecu
Mass produced intake plenum
Mass produced brakes

The most unique features of the Z is
The shell
The SRM feature on the manual
The interior bits

This is NOT a GTR running on a mass of exclusive parts.

It's a Frankenstein car from the infiniti bin.
