Well if I don't like the next gen Z, I'm going to throw caution to the wind, cash in one of my IRA's, and buy a fully optioned Jaguar F-Type R Coupe with a 550 hp supercharged V8. I figure the stock market is going to collapse again and I might as well lose the money on car depreciation and have something totally crazy like that for a few years and enjoy it.
I just turned 60 and I will never drive a grandpa car.

Jaguar...one of the worst in terms of depreciation $$ in the luxury car segment...competing with Lincoln and Cadillac...if you want to loose money buy a Jag and trade it the next day...You'll loose 20-25k or more.

Good looking car though..

Well said. The problem is not the technology, the issue is the market and whether it's worth Nissan's time and money. My guess is that Nissan makes very little money, if any, off the Z line. Under Renault's management, Nissan's bread and butter has become selling Altimas, Sentras and light trucks in Asian. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Nissan drops the Z line all together in lieu of an Infiniti sports car and the GTR.

What most fail to see is, our Z from a mechanical standpoint, is an infiniti, parts bin car. We are on the FM platform like most infiniti's. We carry the same engine and transmission as most mass produced infiniti's. We make the shell and outsource wheels. Even the Sport brakes are infiniti carry overs with custom covers.

So how much can it really cost to build the Z. Nothing is unique in terms of parts. It's just a shortened G , M, EX and FX chassis that in total, sells over WELL OVER100,000 units annually combined. Then cars like the altima and sentra make enough money to help fund the Z's chassis customizing, track testing R&D The Z is no marvel of unique technology,. So making a sports car that only sells 5,000 units a year shouldn't be that big of a deal. It's built from bred and butter infiniti parts minus SRM and Rays wheels

That said,Nissan is full of shyt with this situation.

:iagree:
Yep, our engines aren't unique to an individual car per se, but rather same engine that's tuned differently for different cars.

Correct when compared to a Lincoln or Cadillac. But.... the F Type is the spiritual descendant of the XKE. No comparison with anything from Ford or GM. Well, maybe in V8 horsepower but certainly not in terms of looks, style, or class. I could lose 40% overnight in another market correction, or lose 40% of the same money but drive the Jag for 5 years. I'm sorely tempted to do something that some people would deem foolish. But dammit, I'll have fun.

Like JG Wentworth says. It's your money... Lol

I don't think this F-type will depreciate like the XK'a did. This car is a true competitor. Past cars weren't.

Try being a Toyota fan....at least Nissan has a sports car in their current lineup.

It'll be a while before we see the "FT1"

This is the same story, with every manufacturer.

I used to have a WRX in the past, I've had Hondas, and even a lifted Jeep on big tires.

Everyone complains about their manufacturer. No one builds what the 'fans' want. Get over it :)

If you love the current Z so much, get a '15 or '16 with low miles at some point. They are never going to turn the Z into a 450hp twin turbo anything, its highly unlikely.

At some point in the future I'd replace my Z with perhaps a newer 5.0 Mustang, used GTR, C7 corvette, etc etc, theres a big list. Part of being an enthusiast, there's always many options out there with pro's and cons.

We don't really gotta get over shyt, homes. It was Infiniti that started the 400hp rumor and it trickled into the Z. At one point, the engines themselves were confirmed. Nissan claimed it would be Mercedes design but built in house. This was in fall of last year. That info was steady info for 8 months till the back to basics rumor resurfaced.

If half of you/y'all don't care? Ignore the thread. Some of us are really looking forward to a class competitive Z. Some of us wanted the turbos so we can cut mod costs in half, since the car itself already is a fairly large purchase for some... Some of us love the car to a fault. And yeah, some of us get mad at shytty flip floppy news...

:iagree: I think the Z is already competitive but if Nissan throw some TT from factory it would be a lot more just my 2cents!
