What happened to the paddle shifters on 2015 base

Today I traded my black 2012 with aero kit automatic with paddle shifters, for a silver 2015 with aero kit and automatic. i was 10 miles from the dealer when i realized it did not have paddle shifters. Also I do not see the overdrive anymore either.
Not a big deal, I was just wondering what year that became an option for base?

I like the bluetooth, cool black chrome wheels and the LED lights, and will probably get more use out of the bluetooth than paddle shifters anyway, so still have a smile on my face.

They got a trade in for Bluetooth, and dark wheels.

What do you mean by 'with aero kit'? The sports package?

Also, what do you mean by overdrive?

IDZRVIT 05-23-2015 06:05 AM

Is it a 'Z'?

kenchan 05-23-2015 11:55 AM

wats a boxy nut? :ugh:

oempointman 06-22-2015 09:48 PM

Wow. Surprised to hear this. I actually like the base Z with the dark 18's, no wing, and cheap price. But the lack of paddles kind of stinks.

hate to burst your bubble, but the new base Z's also don't come with the LED sidemarkers. the Z emblem is there, but will not blink when using turn signals.

The paddle shifters are AWESOME ...i wonder why they would cut them in 2015....unless this is JUST the base

It is JUST the base, the sport & touring options still have the paddle shifters.

Why did you trade your '12 in for a '15, was it problematic....

kenchan 06-23-2015 03:56 PM

or maybe lease was up?

GZ3 06-23-2015 04:17 PM

ehh sometimes you gotta trade!

Driftomodachi 06-23-2015 04:31 PM

Typical Nissan. They cheap out on base models in later years

kenchan 06-23-2015 04:40 PM

at least they kept the steering wheel.. :ugh:

"typical nissan"? "cheap out"? really dude? lets think about this logically.

people look for deals and most people don't like it when prices go up. if nissan kept all the features that it came with on the older models PLUS the new features on the newer models, chances are, prices would go up. for example, the pre-2012 models didn't come with a factory oil cooler, nor the LED lights on the front bumper, and other features that i am not aware of for the post 2012 models. equilibrium.

Not to mention its the BASE model. I think that means basic, or lowest amount of options?

Driftomodachi 06-23-2015 08:39 PM

When the s14 240sx base model first came out it had tilt wheel, an indoor trunk and fuel release lever. In the 97-98 models they only came with a fuel release lever no trunk release lever and no tilt steering wheel.

it makes sense to me: if you choose the base, you will get bare bones. if the base came with paddle shifters, the only incentive for people getting the sports package is brakes, wheels, spoiler. IMO, paddle shifters should be part of the sports package.

okay, but what more didn't it come with compared to cars today? you cant compare present cars with 20 year old car in terms of technology.

Driftomodachi 06-24-2015 11:27 AM

Um, these are features, not technology

okay, whatever you want to call it, what other features/technology did the cars you mentioned from back then are missing than of the cars today? #smart@ss fail

Driftomodachi 06-24-2015 12:53 PM

Relax Tampax, all I'm saying is that Nissan tends to load up features in their cars in the beginning years of a car's life cycle and they cheap out towards the end, which makes complete sense. They do that to make the car more of an attractive value to up sales in the beginning to recover costs.

Who put sand up your vajayjyay?

really dude? sensitive much? all is said was "#smart@ss fail" and you're crying over it? wonder how much butt-hurt you'd be if i really stepped up this pissing contest lol

anyways, in what regards what do you mean "cheap out"? there are certain features the earlier models came with that the later models don't and vice versa, depending on the model, but just bc certain features aren't available doesn't mean it's been "cheaped out".

So the base doesn't come with the SRM, does that mean no engine braking with that awesome downshift?

are you talking about 7at or 6mt?

for 6mt, base does not have SRM, unless you opt for the sports package.

for 7at, the auto's don't come with SRM, as they don't have synchros. however, the base does come with rev-match downshift, just no paddles. you would have to use the shift lever.

My '97 SE and my brother's '98 base both have tilt wheel and iirc have trunk release too. Although I always found it funny the base was fully wired for intermittent wipers and never got them.

Whoops. Thanks for clarifying. I meant the auto. Nice. I think I am definitely getting the base model then. I wasn't sure if the base auto rev matched on downshift. Sounds sooo good. THANKS SO MUCH!!!
