So the base doesn't come with the SRM, does that mean no engine braking with that awesome downshift?

are you talking about 7at or 6mt?

for 6mt, base does not have SRM, unless you opt for the sports package.

for 7at, the auto's don't come with SRM, as they don't have synchros. however, the base does come with rev-match downshift, just no paddles. you would have to use the shift lever.

My '97 SE and my brother's '98 base both have tilt wheel and iirc have trunk release too. Although I always found it funny the base was fully wired for intermittent wipers and never got them.

Whoops. Thanks for clarifying. I meant the auto. Nice. I think I am definitely getting the base model then. I wasn't sure if the base auto rev matched on downshift. Sounds sooo good. THANKS SO MUCH!!!

you dont like the use of paddle shifters? also, theres other differences between base and base w/ sports package.

I want to get a base model auto but the rev match thing was kind of important. Sounds so great. The low price of a base is very appealing. I just read in another thread about a forum member adding the paddles. The other extra stuff doesn't really mean much to me. So I am hoping to get a base, and add the paddles if I want to.

IMHO,

You'd better select a FR-S with paddle shifters than a Base Z.

:D
