Lowest average MPG
Before some recent, um... sporty driving, I had reset the average MPG counter for the car.
Over the course of 80 miles, i averaged 6.8 MPG. What's the lowest you've had your MPG for any significant distance? - I say "significant" because it's easy to reset the meter and drive at full throttle for 3 seconds. Whacha got? |
When I was balls out at the track at Sebring I got 6.2. Lol.
|
Did u guys have a tune? If ur WOT a/f ratio hitting stock 11:40/1 then you can save some fuel if u tune to 12:70-12:50/1 u neeeed an oil cooler for 12's.

I managed <8 mpg on a tank once (120 miles). Stock tune.
|
I'm averaging 16-18 just driving like I normally do. Hopefully I'll get a chance to take it to Summit Point or somewhere similar and join the under 10 crowd.
|
Wow, I never get that low unless I'm on track. =O
|
Yeah man I'm averaging 15 mpg to 16 mpg too. And I'm not Going hard either. Normally shift around 2500rpm. No idea what I'm doing wrong

My monitor is litres/100km and max's out at 40l/100km and track-days always max out - that is about 7 miles per imperial gallon.
This is still better than my race car (see my sig), which is 0.8 litres per kilometre on E85 in race conditions. |

I have been using gas cubby app since I bought the Z, and over 2.5 years my MPG average is 16.2. I do mostly city driving and have 13k miles. This is in Lost Angeles.

This reminds me when I was younger I had an aftermarket exhaust and a vented blow-off valve installed thus my MPG's fell to the floor. For a while, I was thinking that the "extra power" was making my car more thirsty. The reality is that later on in life, I realized that I was driving like a mad man since I wanted to hear at all times my new exhaust and blow-off valve combo and I wanted the entire town to hear it as well. So it was not the "extra power" what was burning more gas but it was my driving style since I was driving harder than normal just to be loud and obnoxious, but to me that was still considered "normal" driving. :hello: Cheers!!! |
my 2014 , i have stillen g3 , motordyne exhaust, stock cats, no tune, I'm getting 14mpg, local driving, daily driver ....... if i get art pipes and a tune, will my mpg be better ?
|
Yes, a tune will help you increase your mpg's. But since you are going to have more power at your disposal.... guess what? The addiction for power will retain your mpg's at a low rate.
Is not so much about the amount of power (I mean yes and no), but rather about driving style and other things in between. Also the type of traffic that you find yourself i.e. highway versus city versus bumper to bumper traffic. |
I went into limp mode well before going into single digits for MPG.

3 miles to work. Usually catch 3-4 lights each day to/from work. Average is roughly 17mpg. Cruises on the weekend to the GF's house which is a half hr ride at 60mph and the average consumption is 19.2mpg.

I've averaged about 20 mpg so far... I just bought the car in February with 11,500 miles on it. My commute is about 25 miles round trip, mix of city/highway. I'm happy with that because I used to have a 2004 G35 coupe and averaged 18 mpg.
I have a 6MT roadster, stock. |

City driving 16-17mpg, highway 23-25mpg, mix of city and highway 19-21mpg. I think those are normal scores for the Z. 2014, stock tune 13k miles, no change from adding k&n drop in filters, muffler delete, and an ecu reset.
|
Never been below 20mpg per tank. Usually around 21-22mpg. :ughdance:

I noticed a 1MPG gain (about 20 miles per tank) with my K&N drop-ins but it may be just because I needed to replace filters anyway. My 16-17MPG is normal for me because I drive in the powerband most of the time and like to "get after it" on ramps... I've done lots better on long highway trips in 6th, but I hardly ever do those.
