Anyways, so I just saw that SynBlend has been replaced by Magnatec. It's still a synthetic blend, but has anyone tried this oil yet?

Any engine oil that has a commercial that describes some fancy technology "liquid titanium technology" (Castrol Edge) is pure marketing garbage. Synthetic blends are also terrible because even if it's 50% synthetic, the 50% non-synthetic oil won't fit in the places the full synthetic oil does. It's basically a filler and the synthetic oil breaks down quicker because there's less of it in the engine.

Leave the non-synthetic and blends to the Priuses. A high performance car needs to be full synthetic especially if you race with it. It might cost more but you won't have to change it as often. A blend, you gotta change it like you would conventional.

it's not so much a $ issue, as the difference is ~$10. so would castrol full synthetic be okay? i've been using the synthetic blend for the longest time (on my 07 SI, 07 Z, and now my 09Z) and i don't race/track my car.

There are better full synthetic brands out there. Everyone has a different opinion on it. I use Mobil 1 but I'm possibly looking into Amsoil or Royal Purple when I do enough research.

At the end of the day, full synthetic is just a better oil than conventional. Regardless of who you go with, it'll be better. Stay away from the recycled garbage, that's just them making a buck on used oil that they cleaned.

If you just use it as a DD, any full syn will be good. Would you notice anything different? Not likely, your engine will run better and longer though, and you don't have to change it as often either.
