I bought a 41k Nismo and put a 1k nav in it, that plays DVDs, so I don't see the problem here. If the 40th anniv edition is anything like the nismo, and it sounds like it is, it will come with a double DIN radio that is modular and easily replaced. problem solved.

:iagree: .........and if done right, the sound quality will exceed the factory system.

the only thing i don't like about the after market systems is that it can't sit where the center console glove box sits. I also like the fact that the climate control switch and display are more integrated in the factory model.

While i'm sure most people with aftermarket double dins decks have no problem tilting their heads more down than the factory display (for Nav, movies, or whatever pretty pictures)....i'm not sure if everyone here can say the same, but I like my display as close to the road I'm looking in front of me as possible. Less head movements, plus, as convenient the glove box is being where the factory display's located...i'm sure if someone could choose (whether if it's factory or aftermarket), they'd much rather have a display there instead of the glove box. Unfortunately, they don't make aftermarket decks with the LCD separated from the head unit itself. Otherwise, they could fit more buttons for the Navigation aspect instead trying to fit everything within the 7" double din dimension leaving most people to use the remote for aftermarket decks. If they have made such a sound system, I'd go with the aftermarket one without thinking twice.

But i have to agree that the aftermarket stereo is a much better bang for the buck compared to the factory NAV. At the same time, we all have to agree the factory NAV looks much better than any after market decks out there.

Sorry I went on and on about the Sound system of the car and deviated from the real topic of this thread, please don't flame me for expressing my opinion - i'm just sad Nissan won't let me order the car I want in US, they have it....just not in US

I have to say though, the 40th Anniversary Edition is a very nice looking car overall.

That's a good point about the location of an aftermarket unit with nav/DVD being lower in the console versus a factory nav ........ maybe a stock location stereo with a remote "heads up display" :p

could always go with a single DIN nav system with a motorized flip up screen, it would sit at the top of your radio hole, and the screen would flip up an inch under where the stock nav woudl have been. Mind you the motorized screen isn't as sturdy, especially if it's touch screen and you just push the screen in every time, but hey, it's something lol. I agree with the fact that the stock nav looks great in the car, and that the Nismo and 40th should come with it, but I can't change how it comes. Maybe ripping out the center console and replacing it with the stock with nav center console? Not sure how viable that is.

I've checked....I even listed out all the parts need for this retro fit procedure. It will cost easily $6K to $10K for a Touring model, and even more for a base model for wiring harness. That being said, this doesn't even include the cost in respect to labor or the time I'm willing to put in the project.

So yea, not viable... =(

Peter............

Glad you were able to get a fully loaded (including Navigation) 40th Anniversary 370Z. I guess that is one of the many benefits of living in Germany.

Please post :pics: so we can see this model at its full . . . Special . . . 40th Anniversary potential. How much did you have to pay for the options that will not be available in cars shipped to the USA?

orpit 12-31-2009 10:23 AM

Hi Antbear,

Sorry, my american skills aren’t so good but I think I know what you mean.

The” 40th Anniversary” in Germany is equipped as follows:

370Z – Manual transmission
Color: Metal quarz or Metal black
Wheels: 19”-Rays in dark chrome
Red Leather interieur with stitching on the seats
Multimedia system (NAV + Entertainment)
BOSE-Sound system
Red caliper
Special floor mats

The price advantage compared to the standard 370Z is 1.290,00 EURO.

I posted pictures few weeks ago. Please see them on page 6 of this thread.

Greetings and a happy new year for all… from Germany.

Peter

Wow - you're looking in the wrong places... what equipment were you looking at for that price?

I just picked up a 800x480 (High res) double Din Nav package with backup and reversing sonar (tells you how far away you are from objects) full DVD, DivX, 7" screen, etc for just over $600. Added a remote screen for another $150.

That's really nice.

I'm looking at the Factory OEM Nav Retro-fit procedure, the parts does add up to $6000-$10K.

The Roadster is being released in Aust in 4 weeks I ordered one in 40th Anniversary quartz (yes that colour is an option on the roadster in OZ) I picked the colour based on the nissan Aust website swatch which I loved but all pics
i have seen show it looking dull purple I swear I will not take delivery, they can run me through the highest court in the land and I would disembowel myself with a butter knife before I get around in a pinkish purple convertable. someone please tell me it was just bad light and it's really gunmetal grey.......PLEASE!!!
