The largest dealership still had about a half dozen new 2014 coupes (with and without the sports package) still in stock, and admitted they didn't know what pricing plans for them was going to be once the new model was out.

As for the 2015 NISMO: they're already expecting it to be more expensive than the 2014 NISMO, as it's hard for them to sell manual cars in general, so only intend to acquire the automatic version. Also was told preorder demand wasn't as high as they expected. Only two other people aside from myself, have been asking around. They get more questions on the upcoming Murano. Not sure if that means Nissan needs to step up their advertising blitz or that fewer people are interested in the new model. Maybe it's a bit of both...

The Z is a niche item, less than 10k sold a year, where other models are 50k or more. So they are bound to get more questions for those cars, plus the Murano I believe is getting a huge facelift in 2015 unlike the Z mostly (Yes the Nismo is "new" but still the same car mostly).

Damn, I didn't know the 370 doesn't sell much a year. That makes me super happy. Ideally soon here, I will have 2 cars and both of them never sell more then 10k a year.

I still say put the 09-14 wing and wheels on it, tint the windows and tails, springs and spacers and it'll be hot. I'd also paint the red on the front either body color or black.

I like the front bumper, looks like it would have better airflow to the exchangers than the older bumpers.

Regarding a front bumper conversion, I wonder if the normal under-tray now fits, or if it still uses a different model. Hopefully their bean counters convinced the designers to drop some of those differentiations for cost savings, which would mean less parts for us to buy.

KaienZ34 07-16-2014 06:19 AM

I'm thinking the same, the nose isn't as long as the 09-14 nismo so it might just reuse the non-nismo undertray.

Davey 07-16-2014 06:38 AM

Not gonna lie... I do like the front on the black one.

Here's a crazy thought: Body-color door handles. It's not 1972 anymore.

I really like the new Nismo. The front end feels inspired by the GT-R a bit, which I like. The smaller wing is nice. It certainly does look a bit more 'tame' compared to the 2014, but I'm OK with that. A loaded Touring + Sport + Nav + 7AT is like $43Kish (sticker). If a 2015 Nismo + Tech + 7AT runs $48Kish, then it's essentially $5K for a body kit and seats (assuming you're going to replace the exhaust and get a tune either way).

I really want a Z, and I think this Nismo might be my entry point into the series. I'll be the one with the 7AT and Tech package that the internet can say isn't a 'real' enthusiast.

da mayor 07-16-2014 11:02 AM

the 7AT isn't a bad option at all.

Zed-Hed 07-16-2014 11:51 AM

I hope pricing is not in the upper 40k range. I would stretch the budget and buy an Alfa 4c if that is the case. But if I do buy it, mine would be manual with no tech package. So I hope no more than 42k.

Asheth 07-16-2014 12:22 PM

I'm just in for front end conversion info. I would probably get the red on the front painted another color gray or get CF put on. It looks like it would flow well with evo-r sides or amuse sides. Clearance looks like it would be good also since it doesn't stick out as far. Knowing Nissan the price for the front will be high.

I doubt it will cost less. The high price has been for the certified name brand, more than the manufacturing costs. By now Nissan should have recovered any R&D costs, and you can often find better engineered components for much less. It's the "prestige" of owning an authentic approved part -- not the authentic manufacturing price.

It's your money. It's your car.

People can say or think what they want: zero monetary contribution means their opinion is literally worthless compared to yours. If you're satisfied with what you're getting and it all works out in the end, great job. Cause no matter what you get or how you do it, somebody out there is gonna be a hater.

interestingly enough, i just realized nissan blacked out all the silver trim in the 2015. huh..

Great post. I've been thinking a lot of myself lately regarding the AT vs Manual. I think the whole argument should only be about fun levels. I find standard more fun to drive but I don't see it being faster then a auto. You can't out shift a machine IMO. A lot of drag cars use autos. With all this said when I buy my Z no matter the model, I'm going standard.

Zed-Hed 07-16-2014 07:25 PM

The autoblog post says the manual feels more responsive in 2nd and 3rd.
