that dealer had to be blowing smoke out his ***, there is no way those seats are "over 9000" dollars.... if i had a scouter i would crush it.

Malm 07-11-2014 06:07 PM

its nice.. but it doesn't look like a "nismo". Looks like a base with nice wheels and a sweet body kit.

They basically took all the things that make it a nismo and threw them out the window. The only thing that I like are the seats. IMO it is no longer a nismo, but rather a V2 sport. If you put the 2015 nismo next to the nismo sentra concept, you will see that they literally just transferred over the front bumper, rear bumper and side skirts and made them fit the Z. I highly doubt there was any wind-tunnel testing for this kit like there was on the current kit. It looks to be purely aesthetic with no aerodynamic benefits. Just my 2 cents though.

I agree. Total let down.

haha knowing nissan, it very well could be. its just hilarious because all the seat is, is a customized recaro sportster cs. goes for about 1500 each without the NISMO logo:

Seriously every time I see pictures of the new "Nismo", I really get a good chuckle. :rofl2:

On another note, I Photoshopped what I think the 2015 Sports Package might look like.

It looks like a base model dressed upped to look like a Nismo

cv129 07-12-2014 02:21 PM

I always read about ppl complaining the 09-14 nismo is just a sport with body kit, that it doesn't run any faster than base+sport in the str8 or track, that the stiff springs don't enhance performance...now that there are actual useful changes to the car, ppl complain the way it looks....lets just get a 991 GT3 and forget the Z

Zed-Hed 07-12-2014 03:00 PM

This is the best looking 370z in my opinion. The previous Nismo had an ugly front and the wing was overdone. To suggest that this is only an enhanced sport model is a joke. The power is the same with better gearing.
I do wish the wheels would come in all silver as well. Give us an oil cooler too!!

Zed-Hed 07-12-2014 03:03 PM

Asheth,
Thanks for the pics.

lol 1500 bucks a piece? it IS the sportster CS tuning seat!!!! and here someone was trying to sell a pair of juke nismo seats for 2600 for the pair. just go buy the ones nissan picked to be in the 370z. and pay a couple hundred bucks to have "nismo" embroidered on them. beats the retail price of 9000.... :roflpuke2

rims are terrible, whale tail looks ******* stupid, body kit was an after thought, seats are a markup commercial of the shelf item, navi just adds weight USE YOUR PHONE, and auto is for pansies that wanna be part of the real man sports car club :eekdance:

It shocks me every time I see it, then I laugh for 20 minutes. Nothing about this car is a win. especially after they release the 48-50k price tag before tax/title/license/gap/warranty. No thanks.

w4kj4k 07-12-2014 07:16 PM

The way the front and rear fender have that lip, is that a new standard thing?

Volk Z 07-13-2014 07:20 PM

My thoughts are the new z will have some details found in this car. More angular lines rather then so smooth like the base z.

You know Nissan they fire out the 40th anniversary wow gunmetal wheels and red brakes... oh wait a year or two and all will have that. They did the same thing with the 35th anniversary 350z and the special wheels which became standard the next year.

This my friends is a future look into the styling of the new z. They use this to get out thoughts on the new bumper sides rear. And tweak slightly on people's knocking it.

The real trick for the new z would be to have a true track based z that is lighter. Better brake package. Minimal accessories to keep weight down. Lighter exhaust better more efficient aero package that actually focuses on down force and lift.

NoLaKrewe 07-13-2014 08:15 PM

I will be the minority and say I like the Nismo. Granted the price is ridiculous but I do like the looks of it.

FuTuRe is Z 07-13-2014 11:18 PM

Not a fan of the new Nismo so I opted for the '14, although I should have waited because there are a few unsold ones at dealerships and I bet I could have gotten them for 37K new!

I wonder how long before the prices do drop.

I suppose it really depends how people respond to the new bodykit and automatic option.

1500 for the sporster CS is for a cloth base seat.
You want nicer material like in the Juke Nismo RS or Nismo Z seats that will be 2,000 per seat. Throw in rails for each seat and now your total is probably 5,000 minimum (including shipping to wherever).

Also if you look at the 2015 Nismo Z seats they are not full Sporster CS, only the back portion is, the butt piece is still the 'normal' seat base all other years have had so you do not even get the full seat.

nice catch dreamer! and to top it off the bottom on my seat now has that little extra padded middle section on the drivers seat. 2015 bottom seats dont.

Technically I never caught it, 12nismo did when we were talking about it a few weeks ago.
I missed the launch (on my honeymoon) so he was giving me all the "new" additions, and when I asked about the seats he showed me the picture of how they are half-a$$ing it. I mean, even the GT-R Nismo is not getting the proper seats because of airbag rules in the USA.

Honestly, for anyone who wants the new seats just buy them from recaro and have a shop upholster them the same color (they will match perfectly).

fuct 07-14-2014 10:58 AM

sad nissan, sad...

shurik355 07-14-2014 12:29 PM

Any word on when the new nismo is coming out?? Heard in the July, but nothing here yet.

theDreamer 07-14-2014 12:47 PM

All press releases say July, but could be July 31.
Might call your local dealership and see if they have any details.

Press release by Nissan from July 8, so packages are out, pricing will be due soon.

As of this morning, the Nissan dealerships in my area claim they still can't preorder the vehicle. I tried prying if they knew any NDA info, without actually needing to reveal it, but was told they knew as much about the NISMO 2015 as I did. The largest dealership still had about a half dozen new 2014 coupes (with and without the sports package) still in stock, and admitted they didn't know what pricing plans for them was going to be once the new model was out.

As for the 2015 NISMO: they're already expecting it to be more expensive than the 2014 NISMO, as it's hard for them to sell manual cars in general, so only intend to acquire the automatic version. Also was told preorder demand wasn't as high as they expected. Only two other people aside from myself, have been asking around. They get more questions on the upcoming Murano. Not sure if that means Nissan needs to step up their advertising blitz or that fewer people are interested in the new model. Maybe it's a bit of both...

The Z is a niche item, less than 10k sold a year, where other models are 50k or more. So they are bound to get more questions for those cars, plus the Murano I believe is getting a huge facelift in 2015 unlike the Z mostly (Yes the Nismo is "new" but still the same car mostly).

NoLaKrewe 07-14-2014 05:18 PM

Damn, I didn't know the 370 doesn't sell much a year. That makes me super happy. Ideally soon here, I will have 2 cars and both of them never sell more then 10k a year.

KaienZ34 07-14-2014 06:16 PM

I still say put the 09-14 wing and wheels on it, tint the windows and tails, springs and spacers and it'll be hot. I'd also paint the red on the front either body color or black.

Shotta 07-15-2014 08:21 AM

I like the front bumper, looks like it would have better airflow to the exchangers than the older bumpers.

aszyd 07-15-2014 10:22 PM

Regarding a front bumper conversion, I wonder if the normal under-tray now fits, or if it still uses a different model. Hopefully their bean counters convinced the designers to drop some of those differentiations for cost savings, which would mean less parts for us to buy.

KaienZ34 07-16-2014 06:19 AM

I'm thinking the same, the nose isn't as long as the 09-14 nismo so it might just reuse the non-nismo undertray.

Davey 07-16-2014 06:38 AM

Not gonna lie... I do like the front on the black one.

Here's a crazy thought: Body-color door handles. It's not 1972 anymore.

KrisL 07-16-2014 10:37 AM

I really like the new Nismo. The front end feels inspired by the GT-R a bit, which I like. The smaller wing is nice. It certainly does look a bit more 'tame' compared to the 2014, but I'm OK with that. A loaded Touring + Sport + Nav + 7AT is like $43Kish (sticker). If a 2015 Nismo + Tech + 7AT runs $48Kish, then it's essentially $5K for a body kit and seats (assuming you're going to replace the exhaust and get a tune either way).

I really want a Z, and I think this Nismo might be my entry point into the series. I'll be the one with the 7AT and Tech package that the internet can say isn't a 'real' enthusiast.

da mayor 07-16-2014 11:02 AM

the 7AT isn't a bad option at all.

Zed-Hed 07-16-2014 11:51 AM

I hope pricing is not in the upper 40k range. I would stretch the budget and buy an Alfa 4c if that is the case. But if I do buy it, mine would be manual with no tech package. So I hope no more than 42k.

Asheth 07-16-2014 12:22 PM

I'm just in for front end conversion info. I would probably get the red on the front painted another color gray or get CF put on. It looks like it would flow well with evo-r sides or amuse sides. Clearance looks like it would be good also since it doesn't stick out as far. Knowing Nissan the price for the front will be high.

I doubt it will cost less. The high price has been for the certified name brand, more than the manufacturing costs. By now Nissan should have recovered any R&D costs, and you can often find better engineered components for much less. It's the "prestige" of owning an authentic approved part -- not the authentic manufacturing price.

It's your money. It's your car.

People can say or think what they want: zero monetary contribution means their opinion is literally worthless compared to yours. If you're satisfied with what you're getting and it all works out in the end, great job. Cause no matter what you get or how you do it, somebody out there is gonna be a hater.

chops 07-16-2014 06:02 PM

interestingly enough, i just realized nissan blacked out all the silver trim in the 2015. huh..

Great post. I've been thinking a lot of myself lately regarding the AT vs Manual. I think the whole argument should only be about fun levels. I find standard more fun to drive but I don't see it being faster then a auto. You can't out shift a machine IMO. A lot of drag cars use autos. With all this said when I buy my Z no matter the model, I'm going standard.

Zed-Hed 07-16-2014 07:25 PM

The autoblog post says the manual feels more responsive in 2nd and 3rd.
