Got my first ticket in the Nismo

Popped for 70 in a 35 zone on a back road. A day earlier on that same road I made a turbo 911 driver very angry that my 32k car was able to stay in front of his 130k car. No kill stories on here or illegal stuff, but rest assured on a bunch of turns I looked in my mirror and he pushed wide and almost ditched it more than once. So Sunday morning I'm on a great stretch of road all by myself with the radio on and I got nabbed. It's in md but I have a DC license, not sure if the md ticket will put points on my DC license. So I'll pay the 290 dollar ticket plead guilty and see what happens. So I need to dial back and go to the track. I'm almost 50 and the cop was maybe 25, he seemed a bit flummoxed that an "old" was going that fast. Oh well pay to play. This Nismo will get you in trouble!

forza370z 11-05-2012 11:01 PM

Old?? Never too old...

RandyD 11-06-2012 08:16 AM

sorry... but for the grace of god...

DCNISMO 11-06-2012 10:33 AM

I can't help myself at times, I live and work in the city so I only drive on weekends and once I get out and the Nismo is warmed up its hard not to let it rip. But I should slow down some and I will. I'll have to get to Summit or NJMP in the spring. When it gets much colder than 49 or so, the tires don't grip much anyhow and we are getting to that point.

Send in a check for $295 when you pay the ticket. They will process your ticket and you will have a "credit" on your account leaving it in an "open" status. (Usually it's in an "open" or "pending" status because people have NOT paid, but in this case it's just the opposite) You have a good chance of the ticket never reflecting any points on your license because your account is still "open" even though you paid and are no longer owing them anything. Basically, your ticket gets paid but it doesn't get passed that stage so you never get any points taken off your license.

It doesn't always work, but it's worth a shot. (Clean driving record here)

I got my picture taken awhile back as well lol. I was on the brakes slowing down when I got the flash.

Maybe the cop was that Porsche Turbo guy indeed! That's why OP got ambushed second day???:stirthepot: OP, did you see "Speeding - $10, Beating a Porsche - $280" on your ticket???

All right I am done.:icon17: Sorry OP. Just joking... Good luck. Hope you don't get points on your license.

DCNISMO 11-06-2012 09:39 PM

It was Patuxent River road not far from the trailer park. I have tried all kinds of searches to see if a Md ticket will put points on my DC license. But no luck in getting that information, so I'm not sure what happens. It's 5 points in MD and 6 in DC for going that fast above the limit. I sure don't want that! I think the locals have bitched about people speeding on that road and they stepped up patrols. It's a popular road for bikes and cars.

falconfixer 11-07-2012 07:02 AM

OP, check on the back of your ticket and see if there is an Option #2 to plead guilty but to appear in court. Basically what it is, is you are not contesting the ticket but looking for some mercy from a judge to help with the points. I'm going at the end of the month to do this, but from what I hear is you have to sling sloppy joes at the food shelter or some community service for a weekend in exchange for reducing/eliminating the points.

Yeah I rarely go to St Albert, I found out after the fact that thats a no no. The photoradar was hiding behind a bus stop on the right of the road heading south up the hill. The sad part was I was ignoring the radar detector because it was Kband :/

Yes, my last ticket in Md was in 2001 when I had a MD license, and that's what I did...got PBJ and no points......but that was for only 10 over....I'll probably do the same in case the points travel to my DC license this time. But that will use up a days worth of annual leave too to go to court. But hey its winter so no big deal I'm not going anyplace.

Chemy 11-07-2012 03:08 PM

Our cars are fantastic, I do work for Porsche right now, the nismo Z doesnt touch the 991 turbo :( Not that it should for the price difference, but there are few cars out there in the world that touch a 911 Turbo.

Z-Girl 12 11-07-2012 05:47 PM

Dang $290?! That could have bought a nice Coach purse! That is what crosses my mind when I want to really run through the gears;)

DCNISMO 11-07-2012 06:57 PM

On a straight line the 911 would have killed me, no doubt. But this was a twisty road of two lanes with elevation changes plus I have driven it at speed over a thousand times, and I'm not kidding. He pushed wide about 5 times or more and came close to wadding into the ditch. Each time I braked hard before turn entry turn but knew to accelerate as I went through the curve and not brake at the apex. I was accelerating he was braking and I pulled away as he upset the chassis balance and undesteered. I surmise he was a crappy driver in an expensive car. It was fun and I'm under no illusion that the Nismo is better than a 911 but for bring 100k cheaper it did pretty damm well.

Waiz 11-07-2012 07:01 PM

That sucks OP

Time to invest in a Radar detector or practice some patience and slow down :icon17:

I'm pretty sure that under the Driver's License Compact (DLC) that most states signed, notification is required but your home area is not allowed to assess you points.

Radar detector would have done no good in this geometry of the road. I'm guessing he did not actually GET me on radar and just made up the speed.....He knew I was speeding that's about it. But yes, I need to keep a closer eye out.

technically they arent allowed to make up speeds, I had a cop one time say "You were just traveling fast" I asked "How fast" he said "Fast enough" and gave me a ticket. Its called a "moving fast, or traveling fast" violation. Which I dont get at all, I think any ticket issued for speeding should be radar enforced, if not you are only guessing. :icon17::tup:

i got one years ago for "driving to fast".... i decided to fight it and the cop never showed up for court.

Response to police officer "Sir you shouldn't write me a ticket for traveling so fast, but write tickets to all the people getting in my way".

Or the people who are actually speeding. I get pulled for a 80 in a 65, and right after the cop pulls me, a sti or evo (dont remmeber) goes by doing like 100mph. Im like wtf?! You pull me for a 80 in a 65 but then you dont catch the guy in the reckless. :icon17:

What did the cop say?

I had a similar thing happen to me.. The cop said, well, you are the one that pulled over...
