Exhaust weight and other questions

Does anybody know how much the stock Nismo exhaust weighs? Is there a significant decrease in weight when considering aftermarket exhausts?

More generally, what are the easiest ways to shed weight from a Nismo?

Not trying to be a jerk or anything. But I found that in one google search.

Now, all you have to do is google the after market exhaust you want and compare.

Stillen weighs : 65.3 lbs

Fast Intention weighs : 47 lbs

Nismo : 53.6 lbs

Titan: I could not find an actual weight, they say 40-50% lighter. To me that means nothing without a number. I am curious though, it looks nice!

Wow, the Stillen is actually 12 lbs heavier?!

Thanks for the info. Any other suggestions for weight reduction?

There is thread in the exterior/interior section with tons of info on weight reduction. You really aren't going to save a significant amount of weight with any aftermarket exhaust systems unless you go titanium or a single pipe setup. On average, if there is any weight savings with an aftermarket stainless steel set ups it's usually around 5 to 10lbs. Like mentioned before, some are heavier than oem. Im not positive, but i think my brand new ark dt-s exhaust is heavier than stock. Little disappointed about that but I'm not going to spend 3- 4k dollars on titanium.

:iagree: Titanium is very bridal & doesn’t make sense to have on as a DD. It is worth it if you are looking to race on a circuit & want to save weight. At the end of the day the question you have to ask yourself is if you want to spend a huge sum of money on a titanium exhaust.

If you really want to save some wait on exhaust go single. He put the weight of the stillen he had and the single he has now in the first post.

Here is the Titan Exhaust weight.

5.8 + 13.6 = 19.4 lbs. Subtract that away from 46, you get...uh...26.6 lbs weight savings

Total is 19.4 lbs, awesome weight... Compared to 53.6lbs! I think I will go with TITAN even though they run around $1600.

Here is where I got the information.

Sorry to burst your bubble buts its a little more than $1600. I believe for the entire setup its closer to 3k. Titanium isn't cheap.

KaienZ34 07-26-2012 06:11 PM

The titanium is the only reason it saves so much weight over the others. Please price it out again your not seeing something, it's a bit more than 1600.

Quote from phelan who has this exhaust...

yeah i dunno. i can live with spending a hair under $4k once in a lifetime on an exhaust...$6k was a little harder to justify. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
