Nismo VS New M3
i live in a neighborhood where no kid works for their money , its just given to them by their parents so everyone here has an M3 S4 etc.
i was driving thru town the other day and came around a wide street sideways and there happen to be some rich kid with an M3 (new body) behind me , after he saw me do that he automatically thought i wanted to race so he rode my *** for sometime . i didn't do anything cuz i don't street race in town ( maybe a little on the highway) . but it made me wonder how much faster that car actually is ? its only 404 HP and nismo is 350 is it like night and day ? or for $40K did i buy the closest thing to an M power wise? |
Not that I condone street racing or being given/gifted a new car but you are comparing cars that are not in the same class. Not really a fair match-up stock for stock IMO.
2012 MSRP $60,100 4.0-liter 414-hp/295-tq V-8 3704 lbs (taken from BMW USA) Power to weight =1:8.9 versus 2012 MSRP $41,660 3.7-liter 350-hp/276-tq V-6 3314 lbs (taken from Nissan USA) Power to weight = 1:9.5 Ask your parents to invest in FI and you will have a better chance assuming you can find sufficient traction. My NISMO with the GTM Stage 1 SC on a Dynojet and the numbers are at the wheels: 3.7-liter 419-hp/350-tq V-6 ~3314 lbs Power to weight = 1:7.9 Even with the GTM SC kit and all of the supporting mods, I am well under the price of admission from BMW for an M3. |
The m's are a bit quicker. They'll comfortably crack into the 12's stock (corrected times).

The M3 stock will spank the sh*t out of the stock Nismo. You are comparing apples to oranges here. A full loaded M3 is like 80k while a fully loaded Nismo is like maybe 44k. I would compare a Nismo to any 1 & 3 Series stock, but not the 1M or M3 if Nismo is stock. The 1M & M3 is in a whole different league.

bmw drivers (most not all) are d-bags with ego problems. the ride the rear thing is just scratching the surface of the egotistical behavior of a typical bmw driver. i had one yesterday pass me on the interstate (i was going the speed limit) and as he passed the front of my car he swerved over so close that he took the bug guts off of the bumper, as if to say "hey look at me i drive a bmw". im always thinking "yea bmw, who cares, i didnt want that turd, i wanted this Z, so eat sh*t, guy". literally, you couldnt fit a sheet of paper between the two cars when he switched lanes.

Speaking of Nismo, where the heck are the pictures of the 2013 models or whichever year has the new color rims?

I know the M is faster but based in the numbers they only have about 60 more HP . How bad could they really beat us ?
Look if I wanted an M I would have bought one .n My daily is a 2011 frontier and I live it but I missed driving a sporty car. My nismo stays in my garage and I only take it out when I feel like driving aggressive or showing off a car that is pretty rare. I pull up next to Ms all the time and I get more attention because everyone has an M ... I'm happy with the Z But if I had to choose between the two as a daily I'd choose the M . I feel like I own a track car. Rides real stiff and corners real well and not for nuttin but this car gets sideways like no ones business... |
And it weighs 3570 lbs:
E92 M3 put on a scale vs 3300 or less: http://www.the370z.com/nismo-370z/31...s-reality.html Stock for stock they're faster on the straights and on a track, but they pull away gently rather than leaving the Z in the dust. |
The M3 will blow away a Nismo especially if your M3 has the 7 speed M Double Clutch Transmission along with the Dynamic Damper Control. You are comparing apples to oranges here. The Nismo & 370Z need to stick with the regular 1 & 3 Series, but could possibly hang with the 335i & 335is.

Interesting thread guys! As a long time e46 M3 vert owner (and driver of many E46 M3 coupes and E9X M3s), I will tell you that you guys are respecting the roundel way to much. Remember the M3 coupe weighs 426 more lbs than the Nismo while only compensating with 64 more HP and 19 ft lbs of torque...all that for 20K more? The handling is not better, The interior is not better, I do like the BMW clutch better though .;)
And as far as regular 1 and 3 series go...unless the 335i is modded they aren't even worth a good launch at the red light grand prix. And, throw on a Stillen supercharger for $7K + labor and you're an M eater. I enjoyed my years modding my M and met a lot of good people, but as some of you were saying before, I met more tools. And the one type of car Bimmer owners love to f*** with more than any other make...other Bimmers. LOL. Anyway, enjoying my time here so far. And in case anyone cares here is the display I made from my feature in Performance BMW. Cheers! http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...DSC_0013-2.jpg |

We won't breakdown in our Z, but when we stop to top it off with another two quarts of oil, our steering lock will seize up.
|
I hate bingo, and i know statistics show more than 85 % of vette owners are in their 50's i am not, i am however happy with it, as it is fast n fun to drive, might not b as reliable as the nismo, but thats why i got extended warranty as i did when i own the nismo, nothing against Nismos i was a happy owner for 2 years, i just wanted some with more power...:happydance:

bmws do nothing for me when it comes to asthetics design very boring..I will take a 370nismo in a heartbeat before any bimmer.

Hmmm, I had a C6 vette for 3 years and that car never broke down and was never in the shop. Was reliable as hell. The only thing that ever went wrong with it was the drivers side door panel started to buzz after 3 yrs when you had the radio up too loud. Aside from that the car was perfect. It was as fast as or faster than any car or bike that ever challenged while at the same time being just as fun to cruze in at 40mph down the Vegas strip with the top off. Comfortable on long drives and stiff enough to have fun at auto-x. People talk a lot of crap about Vettes but during our 3 yrs of owning one it was a blast. I may jump in a GS next year as prices drop in preparation for the C7 Vette. My Nismo was just schooled by one on the way back from California to Vegas. People always say they can't handle for **** but it out did the Nismo. 180 degree turn with a 55mph posted sign for the turn (70mph limit on the hwy its self). Took the turn at 90mph while the Grand Sport Vette passed me like nothing. Sure on tight turns our Z might have an edge but thats about the only place our car will beat a Vette. |
I am pretty sure they were just being facetious.

Agreed on the crappy interior, other than that the grand sport is a beautiful and a great sports car. Even a base Corvett would eat a NISMO for lunch, straight or twisties, in capable hands.

Their suspensions are better engineered and I think their gearing is more refined and it gives them a great street to track car without modifying, but I don't know anybody that's had their Z for more than a year that doesn't already have the mods to equalize them with these M3's on most tracks. So, don't race them anywhere there aren't runoff areas and safety staff. There's no point, and it's lose-lose! Props to the M guys for being true enthusiasts and backing up their talk by showing up for real fun. Most SoCal Z guys with all the bells and whistles just settle for hardparking, in fact their "that meet time of the month" thread just got stickied :barf: |
