Nismo + Z1 Motorsports Oil Cooler = Success!
Installed the Z1 Motorsports oil cooler kit (19 row + Mocal non thermostatic) last weekend. Great quality and fitment. The only thing I had to do outside the norm was flip the damper - which I hereby declare as the "Vipor Flip" and add a few washers behind the top mounting bracket to give clearance to the damper. My temps in the winter were running 220 almost all the time. Savannah, Ga. in the summer will push them a lot higher. Running ~190 now when 70-80 outside. Oh and the Redline oil does make a difference in engine noise.
Sorry, I didnt have a bedspread to lay the parts on... :p http://www.the370z.com/members/torpe...mplete-kit.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/torpe...Kit) - Picture http://www.the370z.com/members/torpe...Kit) - Picture The Vipor Flip http://www.the370z.com/members/torpe...Kit) - Picture http://www.the370z.com/members/torpe...lip-damper.jpg All the pics are here: Nissan 370Z Forum - torpedo2k's Album: NISMO Oil Cooler (Z1 Kit) Enjoy |
Do they make a nismo specific kit, or did you just buy there standard kit as they have advertised? Great job on the install. Where the oil lines long enough

Whats the difference between this kit and the stillen. They both look alike but have different filters. They both have setrab cooler.
|
You are correct. Both the Stillen and Z1 kits use a Setrab core. Mocal and Setrab are highly recognized as industry leaders in automotive cooling products.
Some of the differences in the kits include: - Stillen uses a 9 series core. This is MUCH wider than the 6 series core used by Z1. The draw back is that the Stillen core hangs off of the core support, whereas the 6 series core used by Z1 and GTM can be tucked neatly into the core support. - Z1 uses a -10 AN line for increased flow and volume. The Stillen kits use a -8 AN line. - The Stillen kit uses an Earl's sandwich plate which DOES NOT retain the factory 370Z size oil filter. The mocal sandwich plate used in the GTM and Z1 kits DO. Both kits are competively priced. Both kits have their nice features and their short comings. When designing our kit, we attempted to examine as many possible installation scenarios and existing kits on the market to determine what needed to be corrected in order to create a very desirable product. |
I love my 34 row Oil cooler from Z1. Even at Z Nationals track day I never got to 220 Degrees when Running the car HARD on the track. Worth ever penny.

I have the Z1 oil cooler kit as well (25row). Really like it. Hard to get oil temps up to 180F during colder weather, even with a blocker plate that I made for it. Took the cooler off in Nov and plan to put it back on around April-May time frame or whenever it starts warming up. Even when running the car hard, I would see at most 220-230f.
