and the red i highlighted above..... if you didnt cheap out and got a nismo why cheap out on the wheels. id take my real factory nismo wheels over ANY fake wheel.

if you didnt care what the haterz say then why quote my comment?

also its COULDN'T care less.....

On all my other cars I have changed my Rims... I wont be doing that on this car. The Factory rims are much nicer then 90% of what you will find out there. Unless you like Gaudy look.

I really like that nismo RC front bumper - is that a thing you can buy somewhere?

No. You can buy the brake ducts from Nissan Motorsports and install them them in your front bumper. Check out my journal thread for the install. :D

dmhenderson 11-13-2012 06:41 PM

I like the grille part too. Someone will make a replica sooner or later. I want one.

Nissan Motorsports. PN 62851-RTZ40 List for $438.89. I've had one on order since July. Still haven't gotten it.

dmhenderson 11-13-2012 06:59 PM

If you buy that grille it comes with the brake ducts right?

NO! Brake ducts are $612.00 each. You need two. Plus the grill. Total $1662.89 plus shipping. Plus the Stillen brake duct kit, plus the hose reducers

dmhenderson 11-13-2012 07:21 PM

Can't I just have a body shop cut holes in my nismo bumper and fit the brake ducts? Wait I need the Stillen kit too o_O?

dmhenderson 11-13-2012 07:26 PM

He said direct from Nissan (only). Means it probably isn't worth it.

Edit: At least for me. Just seems like a whole lot of money for little to no return. $600 plus install would be reasonable. $1600 on the other hand...

ah, if you don't actually want brake ducting but just the "look" then you don't need the stillen kit, jut the ducts and bodywork to attach them. Not sure about effect on the car with the air just going in the bumper and swirling around but probably not a big deal.

BUT i hate personally the idea of faux sh!t like that on a car, it's like a big rear wing on fwd car, but it will look good (your ducts, not the spoiler exampel)

Jose Aliling 11-13-2012 07:28 PM

^^You're right.600 for a brake duct isn't worth it.

the ducts are only "worth it' if yu are tracking hard enough for brake fade even with fluid and pads upgrades, otherwise, no it's a total waste of $$ unless you just love the look.

dmhenderson 11-13-2012 07:35 PM

I love the look but I don't love it for ~$2000. I'm an "enthusiast" that might track my car once or twice in its lifetime.

if yu "have" to have the ducts, yu could proably just get the actual ducts and skip the stillen brake ducting hose etc since you don't need them hooked up.

Yeah I'd want them to be functional, that's the problem. Otherwise you're like those guys who put TYPE R stickers on honda civics and those turbo "whoosh" soundboxes under the hood (it's a real thing, I'm serious).

On the other hand, I love the look and it'd make a really unique "look" for the bumper. I don't see how it'd be that much different from someone who goes with say...the Amuse kit.

Kinda torn. I'll probably let it ride until Spring. I PROMISED my girlfriend I was done with the car for a while after the FI exhaust/cats/tune in a week or so.

Kingbaby 11-13-2012 07:41 PM

Nismo GT2 Brake Duct Kit w/ NACA Ducts 350Z - 99996-Z3344 - Nismo

Anyone seen this?

dmhenderson 11-13-2012 07:42 PM

Nifty. Would those fit with the RC bumper vents?

well, that makes me feel better lol. I was starting to think you might get them but not hook them up to the brakes with the hose kit. lol.

Supposedly the amuse kit is actually functional and wind tunnel tested. I'm not sure about that but at least for sure our nismo kit was.

also, that is, in fact, an OEM front bumper and $600 for the set sounds about right. that doesn't include the ducting to the brakes either. might want to contact DWW Motorsports, the shop that built Brian's car, for more information since they run it on their car

also, that car is not a true Nismo RC, but in a lot of ways is built either similar or better. the brake ducts up front are from the RC but that's about it. the doran team purchased the first (and only as far as i'm aware of) customer RC but ended up having to redo a lot of the prep to meet class and safety spec to race here. the cars are set up for FIA racing in japan so the cage is not up to our standards here

MJB, FYI... the photo is not showing up due to it being deleted from photobucket. At least that is what my screen says.
